1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 28, 2014, 08:48:37 PM
I am not a NEM stakeholder but I would like to buy some. The problem is I am not sure if I should go through the trouble and expense of converting BTC to NXT in order to buy on the asset exchange.

If NEM is distributed in October and people convert their tokens to real NEM, where will the trading take place? Is there an exchange lined up?

Did the majority of stakeholders claim tokens? Just trying to determine the most cost efficient way to buy in. Thanks.

Hi,

I think it's generally worth buying a coin before the launch, especially if it's NEM.

Trading will take place on exchanges and we will make announcement about that at the right time.

If by tokens you mean assets on the Nxt AE, there were only 685 tokens issued so far, and redemption period(conversion to real NEM) is nearing very fast.

Thanks for the info Xtester. So it seems the majority of stakeholders didn't claim tokens, meaning there will be a lot coming onto the market. Normally I would think this means a high potential for dumping, but in NEM's case I can't see why people would dump after holding off for so many months.

I'm going to play it safe - I will buy 50% now on the asset exchange and 50% later when the actual units are being traded somewhere like BTER or Polo.

Mintpal was purchased by Moolah.

Mintpal V2 is due to be opened shortly. I think it was already supposed to have opened but they ran into a delay.

Great thread, I had no idea that Come from Above is a Monero supporter.

That's all I need to know to stay far away from it.

It's just a pump, it won't last.

Do you really think Bitcoin is going to continue dropping in price while Dogecoin rises? Maybe Dogecoin will replace Bitcoin?

Seriously?!

VIA tally = 17 Pietila Points

Monero tally = 18   Cool

VIA loses points for being small, but a tiny cap doubles more easily...
this poll is carefully crafted FALLACY designed to make Monero look good.

*** Posted by a hardcore Monero Stooge who is spamming the VIA thread ***.
Keep this toxic garbage AWAY  FROM  VIA...
All Monero references should be deleted from the VIA thread.

VIA is a great coin with a fabulous network and Gen 2.0 services rolling out...
Monero is a one trick anon pony... with no wallet, no security and every botnet gunning for it.

Peter Todd had tweeted that the base Monero code is "atrocious"...
Meaning it's a maintenance/security nightmare...
And would have been scrapped and .
re-written by professionals

You sound mad bro.  Is it because VIA is crashing while XMR holds steady?  Keep calm and nom cheap coins.

There are two wallets for Monero.  You must be new here if you didn't know that already.  Try reading the OP sometime.

The Monero pony's "one trick" of 100% real anon is a game-changer.  That's why it's market cap is so many times higher than VIA.

The Monero devs agree with PT, and his statement was the result of being hired by them to evaluate the CN/XMR code.

The CN code is being gradually scrapped and re-written by professionals.  Have patience grasshopper.

The Pietila Point Scale is objective, and I agree with all of its criteria for evaluation except for the ones which discriminate against small coins.  But I'm not a whale of RP's stature and understand why he uses them.

VIA is just a clone of Counterparty, ported to a friendly blockchain instead of the hostile BTC one.  Some say that approach is rife with conflicts of interest.  And the fake burn for XCH was shady.  Keep attacking Monero, and I'll write more about VIA's problems.  Is that what you want?   Wink

Thank you iCEBREAKER, I found lots of useful info in your post. I was wondering what the deal with VIA is.

I really like Counterparty but just like you said, the whole burn thing was shady. That and the fact that it is "hostile" to the blockchain keeps me out.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Serious Altcoin Discussion/News Thread - No FUD, Shilling or Trolling. on: September 25, 2014, 11:32:32 PM
Thanks for starting this thread, as you said, it was sorely needed.

I hope that whenever someone comes across a new coin that is running a giveaway or ICO they post it here. I spend a lot of time scouring this forum looking for new coins... it would be great if we could all update each other here.

I think 2015 will see a battle of the next gen cryptocurrency "systems", namely Etherium, Counterparty, Bitshares, eMunie, NODE. Basically, new coins will have to bring more to the table than just a QT wallet or a claim of anonymity.

As someone mentioned earlier, we could see an invasion of corporate sponsored coins such as "JPMorgancoin" or "Verizoncoin". While the first reaction is obviously to stay far away, they will undoubtedly provide benefits to people who happen to already be using those services.

What a great idea, I am really looking forward to this!

Will the news updates include new coins that either have a giveaway or ICO going on? That would really be valuable!
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: so whats the official name of bbr boolberry coin now? on: September 25, 2014, 10:43:11 PM

Well it might be like that but gambling literally with the health or lives of my grandparents doesn't seem so nice to me.

Have you tried asking for donations from politicians in your country? Does your country have medicare and free services for senior citizens?
