3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Bitcoin Dilemma: Can the Internet be shutdown? on: April 10, 2012, 01:40:18 AM
If the internet is shutdown there are more fundamental problems than the utility of bitcoin.

I agree with marked.
If the internet is shut down, BTC would not be one of the top concerns for many people at all. This will not happen for obvious reasons. I wouldn't worry.

Watch the south park episode where the internet is gone It's Just Gone and it will tell you everything you need to know about this subject lol

The US government blows things up because blowing things up is a component of GDP.  A rising GDP gives the government an excuse to claim that the economy is doing well, which gives them an excuse to borrow money to spend on blowing more things up, also known as "providing government services."  This borrowed money is provided by the central bank, known as the Federal Reserve, which prints money out of thin air to lend to the US government to blow things up, at interest.  This interest is also known as the national debt, and will never be repaid anyways so it doesn't matter.  Welcome to America.

Lol love this post. Had to read it twice over Smiley

Yea I would see a boring future ahead if there was no internet. But then again people did it before, we could do it again lol
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MineCraft? on: April 09, 2012, 04:12:03 AM
Nope never played. But from the videos and talk about it, it seems to be a decent game. I might give it a try if I ever find the time to squeeze it in.

Well I would say that not having any collateral would be another problem as well.

10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do you want your BitCoins to buy? on: April 09, 2012, 01:30:02 AM
Any kind of digital goods: gift codes, game demo's, cd keys etc.

Same here. I also buy virtual items for various games I play. And bitcoins makes it possible to make micro-payments which is a huge bonus when It comes to buying virtual game items/gold/etc.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ways to earn bitcoins? sick of surveys! on: April 09, 2012, 01:22:08 AM
I just sell things/services for my bitcoins. I prefer not to buy them unless I have to.  Currently I do not have the equipment needed to make a profit on mining so I resort to trading.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sell bitcoins for cash in person on: April 09, 2012, 01:00:00 AM
I've gotten offered cash in person for BTC. I have a thing about getting to know someone a little bit online first before meeting them in public. If I had enough BTC I would offer it to people in my area for USD cash. But to be honest with the gas prices I would expect for the prices to be raised depending on where the buyer and seller lives I guess.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cash Contest: WIN $20 worth of Bitcoin (~4 BTC) every week on Facebook! on: April 09, 2012, 12:55:27 AM

I think when you post your code here and you win you can double your prize
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: borrowing bitcoins? on: April 09, 2012, 12:54:18 AM
I usually never lend out more than 1 BTC when someone asks me. Even if i trust the person I might not see the BTC returned to me for quite some time. So to avoid anger I only do 1 BTC at a time.

Good luck though

Hello, I would like to leave this area and be able to post in other sections of the forum. I have a pretty good understanding about bitcoin and have been using it for about 6 months now. I would love to leave this area and start posting in other sections.

Thanks
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Value on: April 09, 2012, 12:38:43 AM
How is it capped. Has the inventor set a limit or something? Sorry I am new to this.
The number of bitcoins produced is set in the code of the software. There will never be more than 21 million. And welcome fellow peer! Smiley

I can see the difference between bitcoins and real physical currency being the cap. Had no idea about this until i read this post. Does not surprise me that there would be a cap.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: April 09, 2012, 12:30:40 AM
Very good information. I probably won't need to do all that as I don't like to have a big amount of BTC in my wallet. I usually earn some BTC then spend it once I get a decent amount. But this seems like a good guide for those who do insane or big BTC trades.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust No One on: April 09, 2012, 12:27:40 AM
Yea I really haven't had a lot of BTC pass through my PC but I do feel insecure. The exchanges I never use to hold my BTC i usually keep it in my btc wallet. Very good read, good and useful information for people to better secure themselves. The main thing I get concerned about when it comes to security is when I choose to buy stuff with bitcoins I really can only name a couple legit online stores to spend bitcoins.
