Massive respect and many thanks for sharing this with us.
... and others.

Thanks - just thought it was a moral duty to share the truth about how things ran at c-cex. Good to have the burden off my mind.

...because the amount of revenue in this market that could have been made by just running a reliable exchange would 10fold any amount he can scrape together through scamming everyone.

Precisely. Only Yuriy would be able to answer that.

Anyway I wanted to ask you finch.... do you know what the break over xmas was about?

No Sir - I have no idea. But in all the while I have seen exchanges - never have I seen such a break taken. It is unprofessional to leave traders at the mercy of the exchange - to say the least.

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate. Do you think there's a option to stop Yuriy? And did you tell the authority that he is a thief? Man, he owe you 33K!!

The best I could do was get the word out about how things are run at c-cex. I whole-heartedly apologize for being late at it - was something that I should have done earlier. Having said that - If you feel that c-cex has done something illegal - then as a law abiding citizen you should report it to relevant authorities in your relevant jurisdiction. It is only fair to do so and would be good for the ecosystem people are held accountable.

And a small correction - he owes me ~33 BTC !! (for 2.25 yrs of my life I put in there). But Yuriy simply refuses to even acknowledge it - so people are free to judge whether they should or should not trade at such an exchange where the owner behaves in such an unethical fashion. Unfortunately for me it was a contract based on word of mouth and I trusted him to do the right thing. Even helped him for almost 1-2 yrs (out of the 2.25 yrs) without pay !! Thinking he was a friend and a good person. I guess I could not have been more wrong. I won't say much - lest I be accused of having an agenda here. But it should be clear to people here how he has chosen not to acknowledge or deny the things I said here. Mind you - he finally removed me as moderator after I posted my last reply here - so it is not that he isn't aware of what I have claimed - he wilfully chooses to ignore it and pretend that nothing happened. Silence can speak louder than words. The reader can be the judge.

Among other things that the users are experiencing - the exchange owner hasn't even paid my dues amounting to ~33 BTC for the 2.25 yrs I worked at c-cex ! (left a couple of years earlier - I'm guessing some older folks here would still recognize me). The owner simply refuses to even talk about it after swindling me for my years of work. I never bought this up until now but (just noticed XVG situation and how it was being resolved - yes you guessed it right, I don't use c-cex anymore and don't intend to) I think users should know about this and make an opinion for themselves, even though it wouldn't count for much I presume - just trying to set the record straight and in public view here, more than anything else.

I had hoped and even messaged the owner earlier about users not being happy with the way things were run - but no response (talking months back - my last interaction with Yuriy). It is sad to see what c-cex has become - when in fact I had helped run it along with Yuriy since approx 1 month after the exchange went live. In fact I was among the original 3 people along with Yuriy, who first helped establish c-cex the exchange that it came to be. We, back then, always made it a priority to try to resolve support issues as soon as we could. Judging by the recent posts here - seems like supoort service has gone down the drain.

Couple of years back c-cex, had the exchange taken a few key decisions - it would have been among the top exchanges of the world today ! But sigh ..... Anyways, I hope for the users that they are treated fairly and complaints are resolved.

Another interesting fact - I used to earlier represent the exchange in chat as "Gridcoiner" which was later changed to "Finch" - just to make users believe there was someone new in their place. It was the same person - me. So, while that is largely irrelevant now - I hope it highlights to the users how the exchange operates. I apologize for that on my part - I should not have engaged in such a deception tactic for marketing/innovation gimmicks.

Lastly, something the older users should know - the owner had taken a snapshot of the accounts to claim BitcoinCash (BCH) when the fork had happened (as a matter of fact the guy had no idea about BitcoinCash when I had mentioned it to him !! I didn't expect such ignorance in all honesty). So the older users should rightfully claim it from Yuriy - it belongs to the users who had any btc in their accounts back then.

PS: I had helped develop the customer support service answers as well, among other things that I did - funnily enough I still see parts of customer support service using the exact phrases I had put in there to reply to customers, sometimes even incorrectly !

PS2 : I usually don't use this btctalk account anymore, so pardon me if I am unable to reply to this soon - life is fairly busy these days.

Always scope for improvement. If you have any specific suggestions do let us know  Smiley

Will talk to main support about it for sure and try to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Anyone still having trouble with accessing funds can do so by the method above (thanks for that btw for helping out users), in case that doesn't work try going to  https://c-cex.com/index.html?id=ws after logging in (at  https://c-cex.com/index.html?id=login) and then Assets->Balance ( which is https://c-cex.com/index.html?id=funds). You will be able to see your funds. Funds are safe and we shall be done with this maintenance soon.

This is an unscheduled maintenance. I am trying to get support to fix this asap. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. We should be back online soon.

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Laptop Mining Software for me on: October 25, 2015, 08:48:13 PM
I want to mine on my Laptop (hobbyist mining)
....
Any Suggestions?

That very sentence is confusing. You actually mean you want to mine on a miner, laptop mining is obsolete today considering the enormous power of professional mining centres.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many confirmations to be sure about a transaction? on: October 25, 2015, 08:40:35 PM
6 is a good heuristic, however 1-2 is relatively safe for low/medium value transactions. The risks decrease exponentially with increased confirmations.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: the Best Linux server for bitcoind on: October 24, 2015, 04:25:44 AM
There shouldn't be much of a difference on different flavours of linux. Go for a ubuntu or debian since it will be easier to find troubleshooting steps should you encounter them. And as said above - the ppa should make it easier.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 21 inc. tutorial on: October 22, 2015, 11:56:36 PM
Hi folks,

I need help Smiley

Im trying to do the 21 inc tutorial and Im not a developer but I would like to do it anyway. Im in the Oracle Virtualbox and 21 inc is saying following:

In our tutorials, we make extensive use of the Bitcoin Core full node, so we need to install it. Type the following command to download the Bitcoin Core software for Linux:

TYPE:

wget https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.11.0/bitcoin-0.11.0-linux64.tar.gz

But then it is saying...Not Found

What should I do?

Thank you very much in advance Smiley

That is because that file does not exist in that directory. Wget is just a command line method to download something. The following file exists (without "-linux64") and will work :

Code:
wget https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.11.0/bitcoin-0.11.0.tar.gz
11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Should websites refuse to send coins to an already used address? on: October 22, 2015, 11:39:13 PM
Doesn't make much sense blocking used addresses, all recurring payments or repeat payments to an address just wont work. For one-off transactions it might make sense but I think the onus should lie on the user (my personal opinion).

Hello,

We tried compiling the GLD source at c-cex but are running into some errors. This is the error below and hence we are unable to run the wallet.

json/json_spirit_writer_template.h: In function ‘String_type json_spirit::non_printable_to_string(unsigned int)’:

makefile.unix:153: recipe for target 'obj/bitcoinrpc.o' failed

I have left a pm for the dev to get in touch with us so that the issue can be resolved faster and we can open the market.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 11, 2015, 12:07:41 PM
Bank locker is the most logical place to hide it. Even in case you lose your memory it should make sense to you.
