2  Economy / Computer hardware / Used Apple Parts on: June 29, 2012, 07:45:36 PM
Hi all!
I've been repairing a lot of Apple stuff the past year, and the parts are starting to pile up. So I'm thinking I could make some cash on here Smiley

Since there are a lot of different parts in a lot of different conditions, I will use the following pricing scheme:
Class A (pristine condition) items sell for 100% of the listed price
Class B (normal wear marks): 90%
Class C (considerable cosmetic damage): 75%
Class D (broken/abused, but still fully working): 50%

Every single part will be tested before shipment. The classes above are purely for cosmetic purposes. If a part has a functionality defect, I will note it specifically.

I'm open for using a well-known, trusted middleman.

Ordering:
Send me a PM with a list of the parts you want to purchase. I will then convert the price to BTC and calculate shipping, and send you a bitcoin address. The parts will be shipped, and tracking number sent, when payment is received.

Prices are listed in USD, to make sure they won't fluctuate too crazily. The price in BTC will be calculated based on the current Mt Gox rate when we agree on the deal, and locked for 24 hours after that. If you take longer than 24 hours to send payment we will agree on a new conversion rate.

Shipping will be calculated when the order is placed - between $3 and $50 depending on size and weight.

Now, for the parts:

(I will be adding more parts gradually. I have a lot of boxes and closets to go through!)

MacBook A1342 (13", Late 2009 / Mid 2010):
This is the white model that is now out of production. The '09 and '10 models are exactly the same except for a .14Ghz increase in CPU speed for the '10 model.

Display assembly (661-5588)
(C AND D PARTS MAY HAVE PIXEL/BRIGHTNESS ANOMALIES!)
$150
Class A: 0
Class B: 2
Class C: 0
Class D: 1

Trackpad (922-9551)
$25
Class A: 5
Class B: 1

Optical Drive (Including cable) (661-5629)
$50
Class A: 1
Class B: 1

Battery (661-5391)
$50
Class A (new): 0
Class B (100-200 cycles): 1
Class C (200-400 cycles): 2
Class D (400+ cycles and/or 'battery needs service' message): 1

Fan (922-9530)
$5

Bottom Case (661-5974)
Class B: $10

Heatsink (076-1358)
$5

Magsafe Board (922-9176)
$10

Speaker (922-9517)
$5

Rear Vent (922-9184)
$10

Airport Card (661-5388)
$20

Hard Drive Cable / AirPort Cable
$3

Screw kit for any part
$3

I would advise most people to buy A or B parts. C and D are fine for troubleshooting/testing, but could seriously piss you off if used daily.

Feel free to send me a message if you need any other Apple parts - I have a lot of stuff Smiley

Good article, but I get the feeling he's glorifying bitcoin a tad... Not that I disagree, but if people think he has an agenda they will be very sceptic to what he's saying.

Discipline by Paco Ahlgren.

I took the bait and read the book. I can see why people speculate that he is Satoshi Nakamo[Suspicious link removed] There are tons of parallels, especially around the time frame that bitcoin came out. HOWEVER....  I am finding this concept hard to grasp that PA could be associated. I just don't see it. So he wrote a book. Lots of people do. It's called coincidence.

Did you read the entire book? Was it good?

The ability to be "completely" (yes we could discuss this for days) anonymous. I hate knowing that some suit could be looking through my bank transactions at any time.

Question should be, is it illegal to produce a ton of bitcoins then offload them for USD into your bank account. < that's what I been pondering on.
But why would you do that. Isn't the whole point of Bitcoin to get RID of (the need for) old fashioned currencies like EUR and USD?

At the moment I think a lot of people are comforted by the fact that bitcoins are backed with "real money", i.e. USD. Until BTC is widely accepted and easy to use, people will still need fiat money to pay their rent, food, utilities, etc. If they were to make most of their income by creating bitcoins, there's an obvious incentive to convert them to fiat Smiley

Hey i am Alex, just an ordinary developer that got attracted to bitcoins and litecoins. Also the concept of namecoins is very interesting, but it seems like something more dangerous Smiley

I am currently developing an economic game wich will use bitcoins and litecoins, hopefully it will be the next big "thing" Smiley

Economic game? Are we talking Sim City (or Bit City...), online, with real money at stake? That would definitely be the next big thing for me!

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Getwork this is what you want, but to be honest don't reinvent the wheel their are a lot of different miners out their and they do it very well, so i would say your wasting your time, unless your some kind of genius who knows how to optimize to get 1 T/Hash on a CPU don't even try.

If everyone were to listen to this we wouldn't get anywhere... One mans wasted time is another mans treasure.
