1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: those pesky bitcoin addresses on: May 28, 2013, 04:43:40 PM
Those bitcoin addresses are..., well they look like gibberish: 1LVyTtygdCnESJcQWE136nxKjNr6s4qB5f for example.
So I decided to invent a new way of transporting them: as audio!
With http://www.vanheusden.com/baa/ you can convert any bitcoin address to an audio-sample of (at least) 0,32 seconds!
The website includes the software package (with included a document explaining how they are created) for creating those files and an example.
Decoding the files is left as an excercise to the reader. Hint: doing an FFT should be enough.

(yes it is a gimmick but maybe some decide it is not or maybe it inspires others to new better(?) things)

A few minutes ago I released version 0.4: this one has a lot of bugfixes and INCLUDES A DECODER!!!

4  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFI_INT with ATI7970 on Linux on: October 04, 2012, 08:10:35 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to mine using:
- phoenix 1.7.5
- linux with kernel 3.4.0
- fglrx 1:12-6+point-1
- ATI7970

I'm trying to run it with BFI_INT but it complains "Failed to apply BFI_INT patch to kernel".
Any idea how to fix this?

(without it, it seems that
    -k poclbm AGGRESSION=13
is the most efficient: 595 MHash/s, but with loads of "Warning: work queue empty, miner is idle" unfortunately).

GCN does not have that instruction, AMD's OpenCL compiler does the proper thing.

Can you elaborate on that?
I did not install a package with gcn in the name, only pyopencl and fglrx.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin meets Open Transactions on: July 10, 2012, 12:33:22 PM
Yes indeed. It was simple little exchanges like that that led me to build Open Transactions API calls in tcl into one of my tcl-based "eggdrop" IRC bots. I figured sine I alreday have bots able to exchange between bitcoin-like currencies I might as well also put Open Transactions into the same type of bots.

Is that irc bot opensource?
If yes: where can it be downloaded?
7  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin on Freenet (BtcFn) Specification on: March 17, 2012, 10:46:37 PM
Is this by any means a project still in the making? I found a link to it on FN, so was just wondering what the last update was.

Yep, it is still happening Smiley  The enitre ptoject has taken a bit more time than expected... We hope to have something to release to the public in arround 2 weeks.

Any news?
8  Bitcoin / Mining / calculating expected number of BTC for a mining rig on: March 17, 2012, 01:46:26 PM
Hi,

Is it possible to somehow calculate the expected number of BTC I would mine for a given hashrate?
I know that my cards do around do around 700MH/s.

Never mind: wrote one myself!

That was quick! Are you a technical author?

It's part of my job yes.

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Prediction for MtGox exchange for tomorrow on: July 16, 2011, 06:43:20 PM
It's not an idea, it is what I predicted using some algorithm which I'm not going to elaborate on.
Back to the drawing board, then?

Well, it predicts the 17th and it is still the 16th, so you don't know yet if any drawing board is needed.

Mind if i ask where you get the idea, that it's going to jump up roughly 15% in the next 24 hours?

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Offering 10 bitcoins for writing a manual for Nagios status viewer CoffeeSaint. on: July 16, 2011, 12:47:08 PM
Hi,

I'm looking for someone who is willing to write a manual for CoffeeSaint (http://www.vanheusden.com/java/CoffeeSaint/ ).
CoffeeSaint is a very much configurable Nagios status viewer. It is free software (and somewhat opensource; sourcecode available at request).
E.g. write what it does, what all commandline switches do and if they're any different from the configuration file. How to configure your nagios server, etc. Some screendumps for what they do and such.
Output as PDF, including source so that I can make changes if needed.
My offer is 10 bitcoins.
You maybe want to discuss first with me before starting to write in case multiple persons want to do so.
16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on Linux with an Nvidia card on: March 06, 2011, 07:52:09 PM
It's not on the hardware comparison list: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison
Are you sure it's OpenCL capable?

Ah dammit, indeed it doesn't.

I guess I have to make savings for a new card then.
Darn.

17  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining on Linux with an Nvidia card on: March 06, 2011, 07:38:54 PM
Hi,

I have a Linux system with onboard video (which is used for output) and I added an extra nvidia card (GeForce 7300GS).
It is a debian system and i installed all neccessary packages to be able to run poclbm.py
The user with which I run it has full access rights to /dev/nvidiactl and /dev/nvidia0
But if I then run it, I get:

bitcoin@weerstationserver:~/poclbm$ python poclbm.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
