For the people obsessed with conspiracy theories, especially the ones involving the US Govt, FBI or whatever. Please reconsider.  Also, please avoid posting multiple times in a row -- it's bad form.

The Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan

Read this book Carl Sagan wrote.  It teaches how important it is to be critical and how important is to be grounded in reality and avoid things like confirmation bias.  He was an amazing man and this is one of the most important books anyone who wants to take science seriously can read.  And by science I mean the approach to the world that involves critical thinking and available evidence.

All the conspiracy theories involving Gox show little evidence of being true.  Basically none.  We still don't know what happened but all signs point to incompetence, which is highly credible based on even a little familiarity with the parties involved.

Eventualy they simply lost acess to their bigest cold wallet , for pure incompetence, and than we will have 700k mabe lost forever.
3  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: March 01, 2014, 02:49:20 AM
Of course, the cause could also simply be that they are retards and their system simply sent the 2nd transaction after it 'thought' the first one failed ... so there was no fraud/theft, it was simply a crap system sending BTC to people multiple times.

that wouldnt happen over years / 750k btc without one feedback from the community

Exactly. There has been a stunning silence from all the people who supposedly received double payouts from mtgox. Knowing this community there would have been some yahooing about it straight-away.

Agree, and if "Bitcoin were withdrawn illegally via unauthorized access" it should be registered on block chain , so i can't understand all this environment of misinformation !

700K btc vanish without trace from a cold wallet ? How is that possible ?

a)   Until they prove innocent MT.GOX is the main suspect of an eventual fraud/theft.
b)   Now imagine how save is costumers id if they can’t even  protect btc.

Gox leaks become worst every day , I’m really surprised how btc market price is doing so well to something like this  !!!

I'm wondering how Sturle must be feeling, after all those months of shilling.

Maybe he is feeling really bad , after all i suppose that he was also GOXED !!!  Shocked

Even if all the BTC in stuck transactions were stolen (which is impossible, because most of the inputs were spent in three to six stuck transactions), it is still only a tenth of what MtGox has made in fees over the years.  It is certainly not going to bankrupt them.  You have to make up something more credible than that if you want to make people believe in your scam.

By the way: I really thanks for your comments here. There is so much scaremongering and desire for the escalation in these parts. So, is really enjoyable to read your posts.

This one is just a tribute to sturle and their fansGrin Grin Grin

"announcement" on mtgox.com!

Dear MtGox Customers,

In the event of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly.

Best regards,
MtGox Team

LOL!!!

"We will be closely monitoring the situation..."

What situation are they monitoring? Really, what kind of drugs is Karpeles on?

What a sweetie after all they are trying to protect us !  Huh

Well it makes sense, they are protecting costumers from their bad service !  Grin

Calm down people it's all fine , Gox have been leading the market for several weeks without withdraws and now they prepare to resume  without a site ... see their volume here : http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ . Grin

A bit more serious, as i told you some weeks ago , the end of MT.gox with this misinformation environment and lack of consideration for their costumers can mean the END of btc.

We will have other strong digital currencies in the future, but different rules are needed !

Good luck every one

P.S.:Sturles come back i will forgive you !!!  Grin

yyyyyyyyyyeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah 'cause when the banking system had it's last crash, it was the END OF MONEY, right? Pf. BTC is so much more than gox.

The problem of btc is that it disappear without a trace. Gox is just another one among many others. At the end you you will end with a suspicion that someone somewhere stole un undetermined  amount of btc. I can bet that a anonym digital currency has no future !

How do you explain the gox price raise at last hours ?
11  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 20, 2014, 01:45:37 PM
I have quit reading this thread due to high volume and very low signal to noise ratio.  Just stopping by announce that my 10k EUR withdrawal from January 4th changed to pending today, and will arrive tomorrow.  I have cancelled my other withdrawals to buy BTC.

Welcome back we thought you were in Japan !  So, calm down this frightened people  Grin

 Undecided
13  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 18, 2014, 12:10:28 PM

Could u please elaborate a bit more on how did you conclude to the 40% chance?

He obviously just did the simple math to divide the Gox market price by the the Bitstamp rate e.g.

Correct !  but prices in EUR/btc , so gox price against bitcoin.de price.

That's what the market price is telling us all ! people that buy and sell coins consider gox.coin about 60 % less valuable than other coins. That’s a measured perception of risk !

aren´t you pissed by  not being able to buy some goxxies for under 200 Euros now???

Nops , How do you expect to withdraw your coins then ? What market is telling us is that the chances to withdraw your  gox.coins  is 200/500 = 40 % . maybe that's what you will be able to withdraw when they open coin windows.
16  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 17, 2014, 11:44:41 PM
I would expect the daily/monthly BTC withdrawals to be something like 10BTC/day and 50 BTC/month. Anyone with a large account will be stuck there for a long long time.

I am also predicting 10BTC per day. They are pretty much doing what an insolvent bank would do but without actually coming out and saying it. Prepared to be proven wrong on this but I feel very strongly because this is hurting Bitcoin and was entirely avoidable.

The simplest way to serve their intent is a % limit withdrawal over each balance. so they will screw everybody !

Withdraw fiat while you still can !
17  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 17, 2014, 11:24:57 PM
Market  needed some time to realise the meaning of gox statement, but now i think the message is received and understood. Despite  gox situation the 17-2-2014 statement it self,  is a dead sentence for gox. I believe that they will came up with something, to easy market, in the next few hours ...

Hello Sturle this one is for you !
19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 17, 2014, 01:05:39 PM
