Congrats to all you pump and dumpers. Way to go to help ruin the image of Bitcoin. You should all hang your head in shame.

Sounds like someone lost some money daytrading.  Roll Eyes
No I'm long term holder. Issue is we need a stable currency if it's likely to succeed.

It will become more stable with time and adoption.

That is right. With time and adoption, the price of bitcoin will rise and the market capitalization will be larger. It is more difficult for small whales to manipulate the price.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: How high will this current bull run go? on: November 10, 2015, 08:12:46 AM
The price is steady around $380 for a week now. The next short term bull run will reach $600. The actual height depends on the consolidation time.
3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-05] Biggest Bitcoin Exchange OKCoin Suffers Cyber Attack; Price Plummet on: November 06, 2015, 10:18:11 PM

If there is a causality between OKCoin's problems and the current plunge in BTC price, then that would suggest that recent reports of China being the BIGGEST PLAYER in Bitcoinistan are true.

And it could be true!  I have seen nothing that would tell me that US HODLers of BTC have been dumping them (although I recently spent some on gold).

Chinese bitcoin exchanges are the world's largest. This is no doubt about that, even if you discount their trading volume by 90% due to 0% trading fee.

I really hope it continues to go up.   The bottom line is no one knows what is going to happen, but just in 1 day it went up almost 100 dollars from yesterday.  If this continues maybe we will become Bitcoin Millionaires:)

I hope bitcoin price to go up, but supported by fundamentals. Pump and dump will ruin the reputation of bitcoin, making it a speculation tool.

My guess is 10.000$ all time high before block halving.

Call me crazy or whatever you want, but I believe in this. We wait for 2 years. Now it's our time!

$10k is only possible after 2020 block halving. At that time, the block halving is not as important as the block reward is relatively small. With 17 million  bitcoin, $10 price increase means $170M market capitalization increase.

This time, the peak price is unpredictable. The Wall Street guys might have entered the market after so many months discussion of blockchain technology.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is whale? on: November 04, 2015, 12:19:03 PM
Satoshi could be a big whale if he wanted too. I hope that he wont decide to dump his coins on us xD.

He shall not dump his coins. He can spend the coins slowly or invest in bitcoin related business to promote bitcoin further.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is whale? on: November 03, 2015, 08:59:01 PM
some player powerful enough to manipulate the market. Usually has negative meaning. Whales usually make large profit at the cost of others. But many people want to be whale.

If you have time, you can search for London Whale.

There comes a time when it all ends up with this: You have to take a decision on where you are at, and you can only have 2 options
1) You get on Bitcoin now and acknowledge his potential then reap the benefits later
2) You keep being a skeptic/hater and become a laughin stock later, just like the "the world doesn't need computers" guys.

I remember the head of IBM said the world only needs 10(?) computers.

We need bitcoin and other crypto currencies to succeed to enrich our lives and liberate us from perpetual fiat inflation.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys... I'm having this feeling again on: November 03, 2015, 07:29:46 PM
You mean  what goes up must come down? That is my feeling though. Really scary.

In the cryptoworld, something that goes up doesn't necassarily have to come back down, or at least not as hard. Wink

But in the real world, with real physics, what goes up must come down Wink

everything will come down. the only question is, when will the price start going down again. of course i hope it will go up and up all the time, but that's simply impossible. i think it might happen within a few days that we see the price goes down.

The price will come down some time later. But it will continue rising for some time.

The directly transfer between Chinese banks and exchanges was banned previously. Now you can do the direct transfer:

BTCC Now Accepting Direct Bank Deposits
Nov 02, 2015

Recent bitcoin price increases have reignited enthusiasm in buying bitcoin. BTCC is confident this trend will continue. As such, we are pleased to announce that we now accept direct deposits.

Customers now need only log in, click on “Account,” then “Fund,” and then select the “Bank Deposit” option to fund their BTCC accounts through their bank accounts. All customers who have Chinese bank accounts will be able to make direct deposits through ATM transfers or online banking.

BTCC will stop accepting customer deposits through agents on November 15.

If this bull run last for 3-5 years, $10,000 is a possible target. However, we need more adoption of bitcoin in the whole society.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On the cover page of The Economist on: November 02, 2015, 06:00:31 PM
Seems like BLOCKCHAIN is becoming the hit word. People don't like what bitcoin is associated with...so, bitcoin is now blockchain! This is now blockchaintalk.org

Blcokcahin is really a revolutionary technology. It can help organizations to simplify their ledger system and can cut cost.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: How high will this current bull run go? on: October 31, 2015, 10:21:04 PM
We did fall down all the way to $307 on Bitfinex. I think that everybody are in a waiting mode at the moment and people are waiting for someone to make a move with a huge sell or huge buy.

I hope we will stay above $300 though. It would be great to form a floor here!

Staying around $300 (280-320) is fine. Bitcoin will not die easily. There are more usage for bitcoin now. It has bright future.
14  Economy / Marketplace / Re: any Halloween promotion in Bitcoin? on: October 31, 2015, 09:01:50 PM
There are some shops doing discounts but they don't accept Bitcoin yet. I think the best gift we can have for Halloween is this uptrend. I would rather take an uptrend than take a discount to buy some lame monster dress or whatever.

The steady rise of price is all we want. We do not want the price to be too volatile. Slow rise is fine to us.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On the cover page of The Economist on: October 31, 2015, 05:10:39 PM
Nice that Bitcoin gets some free advertising.

Bitcoin? No. Blockchain? Yes.

The actual story on Bitcoin in the Economist doesn't hail Bitcoin as a currency, it appreciates the blockchain technology behind it and predicts that banks and other businesses can create their own blockchains for whatever use they see fit.

Yes. The article is mainly about the blockchain technology. It also mentioned Ethereum, which is block chain as well as a platform for many usages.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: How high will this current bull run go? on: October 31, 2015, 04:42:16 PM
Hmmm, where is the option for $350 or less?

$350 will most likely become the new $300, and I expect a lot of investors to sell off once the psychological number hits. China shouldn't be used as proof otherwise, since the equivalent of $350 in their currency isn't any special number, and 0 free trading allows them to stray further from the overall market.

The OP does not think the price will stop at £350 or less. If the price rise only $1-3 a day, it can run very long.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys... I'm having this feeling again on: October 31, 2015, 12:36:05 PM
Hello.

I just wanted to share this feeling I've been getting and building up lately... it's one of those you feel deep in your gut and it doesn't happen too often.

As a matter of fact, the only 2 times I've felt it for reals in the last 3 years have been when I met this amazing girl and the first time

Does anyone else have any idea of how inappropriate that sounds? Just run it through your head and try not to giggle.

I had the similar feeling when I first heard about bitcoin. I was very excited. I knew it would be THE currency.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys... I'm having this feeling again on: October 31, 2015, 09:37:17 AM
when bitcoin starts going up it never goes up a little or in a slow steady rise, never has and probably never will, until it stablises at some much higher value.

check the graphs from 0.02 to 0.20, 0.09 to 0.75, 0.5 to 2, 1 to 30, 2 to 266, 30 to 1200, ... never has gone up by a little or slowly, that's the historical fact.

All this allows people to make more than decent profits. Best is to enjoy this while it's still possible. There will be years comming where the growth might be "just" $50-$100 per year, maybe even no growth at all as we'll also face less profitable years. Nothing goes only up.

In a few years time, the growth will be 10-20% a year. That is when bitcoin is used in actual transactions, not just for trading.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On the cover page of The Economist on: October 31, 2015, 07:39:55 AM
The first time I knew about bitcoin was about 3 years, I read an article in The Economist. I did not take it seriously. The bitcoin has grown a lot since then.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: How high will this current bull run go? on: October 31, 2015, 07:23:59 AM
It will of course find a new equilibrium sometime, and it will probable overshoot first, than slowly go down until it hits the equilibrium price. But I wouldn't be surprised if the new base price would settle somewhere around $1800. Overshooting to $3000 or $5000 isn't unlikely at all.

If anything above estimations are most likely too cautious even.

$1800 could be the top of this bull run. Then it might drop again to $900 or lower as it did before. If this bull runs slowly, it might not drop below $900.
