I have 4 chips on batch 2 and 4 chips on batch 3. any updates on the status?
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL BitForce SC Firmware source code on: December 20, 2013, 07:19:19 PM
Hi all,
I just received my jalapenos and they came with 1.2.9. I tried reflashing the firmware but it appears that it is not working. Any idea what I have missed? I merely change the source from singles setting to jalapeno by commenting line 26 and uncommenting line 24...

I'm sorry that I'm not updating GB table but it is really crazy now...

Batch 1 users that still didn't pay for boards please have in mind that you need to do that till end of the week.

If anyone from batch 2 or 3 would like to help me get batter prices on parts can also pay now and will order parts to be ready for your chips...
I noticed there's a drop in bitpay rates since I paid. Do let me know the difference so I can make up with the difference. Thanks!

Also, I'm not buying any other chips anymore.

Paid for balance for my Batch 2 and batch 3 + a board for 8 chips.
Thanks

So, no one has yet to compile an exact list of the parts one would need to accomplish this mod.

Would it be possible for those that have accomplished this to post the parts, part numbers, and vendor they procured it from.  Please provide proper links.  I would like to start ordering these for my eruptors.  I also hope to have my Heatsink mod uploaded this evening.

I know that I am a NEWB but I have been through these 27 pages and all anyone ever dies is state 16mhz with no specifics other than physical size 3.3volts.  I would like to understand more  is a higher frequency stability better will that matter?  Should I go for a higher Operating temp? should I care about Load Capacitance?

If nothing matters other than 16mhz 5X3.2 SMD and 3.3 v I will order the one that can get here fastest.

As for the other part the resistor.  will any generic do or do I need parts that have better specs.

Please accept my thanks in advance of answering as well as calm resolve in advance of being flamed for stupidity Smiley

Overall, now, it is not worthwhile to overclock them. It's cheaper to get one additional BE instead

One of the group buy owner has received chips on hand already. Not sure if anyone from there wanna send the chips over to lucko for assembly...

Maybe we can start this as another topic for modding the USB hub. lol
Meanwhile back to topic, can I get 2 hubs without adapters? The price is the same?

Yea, U have to replace the oscillators and also the resistors.

Not really favour over overclocking BE as the power usage will increase by 150% to 200% and additional cooling is needed...
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: can I use Ebay USB hub w/ 40a power supply? on: October 09, 2013, 01:45:43 AM
This really depends on how much Amp the hub is drawing. My hubs runs 8 BEs, (4OC + 4 stock) perfectly for days. It's a PSU of 5V 60A. It appears that it can't draw more than 10Amp for that hub and if you do, it will melt the power plug...

32 BEs loaded in 4 10 USB port hubs. 14 stock BE, the rest are overclocked to 448MH/s

As promised.

3 hubs on top of my power supply and one at the bottom.
The power supply is 5V 60A supply. I tested a full load of 10 OCBE @ 448MH/s in one hub. The hub power connector melted in 5 mins... Lucky I managed to save the hub but not the DIY connector...
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter USB - Overclocking/ hacking ? on: October 07, 2013, 08:21:52 PM
A full list of my BEs on one power supply that's only 40USD. Some are OC, some are stock. 1 damaged (not sure from what but it appears the silas chip is damaged.)
Will post picture of my setup later.

Things I noticed,
1) you can't load a full hub of OCBE. It will burn the DC connector. Even if the power supply/adapter can handle the load, the hub DC connector can't.
2) using these power supplies are cheaper compared to adapters.

Edit: when I mean full hub, I'm using 10 USB port hub.

Erm, just to clarify, the 4A and 8A adapter cost 17-26USD itself and it's sold separately.

I personally did a test on stock BE. If running on 1 stock BE on a laptop, it uses 90mA. When I load the 2nd stock BE, it becomes 240mA. So it takes about 150mA for a stock BE that is in mining state. A USB 3.0 port will not power more than 1 OCBE (to 448MHz, and i havent try stock BE).

The next thing I wanna try is to use switching power supply 5V 60A to power 3 of these hubs. and see what happen lol (hopefully no explosion)

Back to topic, this hub sells 15SGD cheapest here. Yours is 3SGD more but with delivery. But when I need it, it really means i needs it now. haha.
17  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: 10 port powered USB 2.0 hub $14.99 on: September 30, 2013, 09:18:32 AM
Yup. I did not buy any from you. I got the USB hub from a local electronic store and "sometimes" it comes with 1A adapter. Sometimes it doesn't.

The store that sells the 4A adapter "BS" me saying I turn it on 24/7. Saying it's not supported to use 24/7. Lucky it's a lady or i'm gonna give her a piece of my mind.
So I asked for a higher amp adapter and they gave me 8A.
Plug in 7 OCBE and the DC connector melted.

Final form,

Though I have some re-arrangement with the BEs. But all 4 hubs are running with 8A 5V adapters

18  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: 10 port powered USB 2.0 hub $14.99 on: September 29, 2013, 07:49:22 PM
Tried 4A adapter with them and the adapter melted. 4A adapter cost about 17.5 USD

Then I got 8A adapter to use with them and the DC connector on the USB hub melted... 8A adapter cost about 26.20 USD

From what I know, USB block erupter uses 5x3.2mm oscillators and blade uses 7x5mm oscillators.
The older blades uses 14mhz for higher frequency, so u have to buy higher frequency for that.
According to USB block erupter, u can only overclock up to 16.8MHz due to the regulator can only output 3A..

@Friedcat:
Is there a possibilitie to overclock the blade?
There is only a pre-defined high clock, iam reaching
13.2 gh/s, but could reach more because my blade
Is on the heatsink 23 degrees and on the chips 51 degrees.
So is there a way to bring it to a higher hashing rate?
I really would like to.

What is the max temp on the chip side?
Not easy.

The oscillators are fixed on the hashing board (one 12MHz, one 14.318MHz). Low switches to the 12MHz one while High switches to the 14.318MHz one. If you need more speed you will need to buy a 3.3V 5mmx7mm oscillator that is higher than 14.318, unsolder the current one, and solder the new onto the board. We tried 14.7xx and 15 before. On 1.25-1.26V they begin to work, but producing a lot of heat.

Plus, grabbing the oscillators out of the board definitely voids the warranty Tongue
