1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what is the best place for trading for newbies? on: January 18, 2014, 05:16:52 AM
www.cointrader.net is a good exchange for newbies, and they answer emails and phone calls.
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC Arbitage on: January 18, 2014, 05:10:48 AM
I've been watching the prices on www.cointrader.net, and because it's new with lower volume there have been some great arbitrage opportunities.
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best trading sites (coinbase, bitstamp, bxcamp, etc) on: January 18, 2014, 05:06:29 AM
www.CoinTrader.net is good. It's run by the guys that installed the world's first Bitcoin ATM in Vancouver, Canada.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Congratulations CANADIANS, now your bitcoin is the most EXPENSIVE in the world. on: January 02, 2014, 01:44:20 AM
Are there more robocoin ATMs installed in Canada other than the one at Vancouver?

Not yet, but we're installing 4 more across Canada in the next two months, and we've just launched our new online exchange www.cointrader.net.

*UPDATE*

The transfer finally came through!

6  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin withdrawal on Mt.Gox not working. on: October 17, 2013, 10:28:36 PM
Hi, I logged into my Mt.Gox account and withdrew a few bitcoins to this address:

https://blockchain.info/address/1FHqEMm1tdd86HWPYAsXNBy4DDt5Nm1jnC

almost 2 hours ago, but still nothing has come through.

Is there some sort of delay in the processing I don't know about? Transfering bitcoins from my Mt.Gox wallet to another wallet should be instant, should it not?

Thanks!

Stretch

Why don't you just buy them off Bitstamp?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Best Bitcoin Flyers on: September 17, 2013, 04:01:11 PM
Hey guys,

I've got this kid that will post flyers for 10 bucks and hour, and I'm thinking about having him post up some sweet Bitcoin flyers all over town, but all the flyers I've found seem to play some form of the libertarian anti-government/anti bank type angle, which to most people is a huge turn off, so I want something that doesn't play that angle. Don't get me wrong, I'm a libertarian myself, but people that don't know anything about economics, philosophy, or politics, just don't get it, and coming at them so boldly just causes division and dismissal.

The one narrative I really love is "Bitcoin Not Bombs", but when I looked around I wasn't able to find any flyer type material that I could post up. If anyone can make something like this, or can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it!

Cheers,

Jackson

I've been to most of these businesses. It's awesome being able to go out for dinner, or a coffee and pay with bitcoin!
11  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Opent Transactions Block-Chain on: June 06, 2013, 04:58:01 AM
Suppose there was a blockchain that allowed an 'OpenTransactions Server' to 'checkout' some currency to use on their server.

Now suppose that every time the server signed a receipt it also published a transaction to the network to update the hash of the last signed receipt in the blockchain.

The blockchain could then honor requests to withdraw money even if the server went away by simply presenting the receipt.

Then all that would be required is a means to AUDIT each OT server to make sure that it never issues more receipts than are valid, which I believe there is already such a system in place (or at least designed).

Now connect all of these OT servers together through BitMessage.

The end result is that you could have entirely secure anonymous transaction with complete destruction of your transaction history.   The existence of the OT servers could even be hidden from the user.

Now combine this with something like BitShares and we will have pulled it all together in an amazing way!

Awesome! Check out the auditing page of the OT wiki while you're collecting your thoughts on this:

2 BTC from me! That's on top of the 20 BTC bounty I'm offering for a simple OT web interface bounty.  Cheesy

I'm interested in helping out on this a bit.
I'm not interested in the bounty I'm more interested in learning about how OT works and to learn more about web application development as a native developer.
Please let me know how I can  help. Any pointers that can be given on how OT implementation work would be great.

Great! If you head over to #opentransactions on irc.freenode.net we can you help out.
14  Bitcoin / Project Development / [BOUNTY] Simple Open Transactions Web Interface Project on: June 02, 2013, 11:13:41 PM
Hello everyone!

I think Open Transactions is really cool, but right now—as many will attest to—it is difficult to understand. This makes it hard for people to see the real vision, what OT can actually do, and its true implications! I think the main reason for this is that there isn't anything simple and fun that people can get their hands on—like a web interface or a smartphone app.

So after many moons of waiting and wishing for someone more qualified than I to build these things I decided to build one of them myself, and since I have no experience building smartphone apps I began work on a web interface. My vision for the web interface, which I've dubbed OTWEB, is something like Blockchain.info is to Bitcoin, but OT style. A place where people can easily create an account, then do a bunch of different things like trade Bitcoin backed assets instantly and off-blockchain, issue and trade their own assets, bail in and out of Bitcoin/OT assets, play with real Chaumian cash, etc, etc.

Here are some screenshots of what I have so far:

My project is on Github at https://github.com/stretch/otweb, but you can tear it up, completely redesign it, or do whatever you want with it. This project was started with the hopes of attracting more talented and experienced developers, because what takes me 3 days to do takes a real developer 3 minutes! So for that reason I'm not attached to it, I'm not looking to start a company and profit, I just want to see this web interface happen.

That being said, I think this web interface development has to happen in phases, with each phase being easy to add once the previous is done, and I'm offering a 20 btc bounty (and counting) to anyone, or any group of people, that can complete the first phase and get the ball rolling on this.

To collect the 20 btc bounty I'd like to see an open source web interface that allows users to do the following things:

Securely create accounts.
The ability to import asset and server contracts.
The ability to send transfers and cheques, and receive transfers and cheques, and see account balances.
The ability to see cash purse balances, and to withdraw/deposit cash.

Bounty here: http://goo.gl/x1Qf8
If anyone else would like to contribute, and trusts me (you can!), they can send BTC to 1WACCXYWBSV9SffHuFwRKcYFohCLoQb2L

We can discuss further here, or in #opentransactions on irc.freenode.net where you can get plenty of enthusiastic support from the other developers.

Cheers!

15  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] 185+ BTC - Open Transactions Client (for Grandmas) on: June 01, 2013, 05:12:57 PM
I'll throw down a fair bit of BTC (hundreds of dollars worth) for this. I had started working on a web interface months ago, but I'm not even a remotely good programmer. I just think OT has huge potential!

I like it a lot.  Grin
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: May 22, 2013, 01:09:12 AM

Combining the above Bitmessage capabilities--which we already proved out experimentally--with Open-Transactions, makes possible fully-decentralized p2p markets, as well as p2p escrow across OT federated servers, easy p2p and server-to-server wiring of funds and conversion of currencies, both within OT and also between OT and the conventional banking system.

How does this enable wiring of funds and conversion of currencies between OT and the conventional banking system?

Libertybit.com has been great, I highly recommend them!
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will you react at 02:00 UTC? on: April 11, 2013, 10:48:03 PM
I'll be there to watch it happening. This is going to be more exciting than, say, a night out clubbing - or maybe your favourite TV series. And there's BTC to be made.

Good luck to you all - but most of all, good luck to me  Grin

I have been drinking coffee all day in anticipation of this magnificent event and now I am twitching like a madman. Will be watching all the major chart sites at the same time from the moment the first trade hits.

LOL
