Many of the fans are universal across brands. Compare the fan specs and see if this one would work. If  it won't, the seller might be able to point you to the correct one.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASCI as Brute Force Cracker on: September 12, 2012, 05:57:46 PM
There are 3 main types of cryptography:

1) Symmetric cryptography - password based encryption that most everyone is familiar with. Not used at all in bitcoin.
2) Hashing algorithms - converting lots of data into irreversible gibberish. This is what bitcoin uses for mining and what ASICs are designed for.
3) Asymmetric cryptography/digital signatures - Totally different from symmetric or hashing and is what bitcoin uses for signing transactions and protecting coins and so on. An ASIC could be designed to brute force these, but the ones that are in development will not be capable of doing so.

It could be a stupid question, but would creating rainbow tables for MD5/LM/NTLM hashes be in the "Hashing algorithms" category?

Thx!

Yes,  If you already have the other necessary hardware. There is a good chance it would pay for itself before the difficulty skyrockets.

There are quite a few sites that only accept bitcoins as payment. Most set the prices in USD or EUR and when you pay it's based on the current bitcoin exchange rate.

Here is a list of sites that accept bitcoins.

Well 30 days is an anti-fraud measure.  It may be annoying but calling it a scam isn't exactly accurate.

BitInstant is one option for US customers to get coins the same day from lots of retail locations.
Tangible Cryptography (see sig) provides the lowest cost coins bulk only in bulk sales ($500 min).

Could you explain how to use bitinstant? maybe in a pm? again, i'm new at this and need some help.

Here is a video tutorial on how to use bitinstant. http://vimeo.com/44849463
