1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S7 Overclock? on: January 01, 2016, 12:19:09 AM
Hello.

Just got my antminer s7 batch 8 in the mail today. Got it running right now with a Lepa 1600w 80+ gold PSU.

So basically I'm just wondering if it would be a good idea to overclock the S7. Came set at 700M and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I could maybe OC to with my PSU.

Thanks.

I'm aware of this. I was more interested in the effect it would have on miners. Like if it would completely cut the reward in half for miners or just a little since the difficulty would change as well.

Ok. That's kind of what I thought.

Thanks for your help!

About how much less are miners going to make?

I have an S5 right now, that makes about $50 / month. Is it going to be useless when the block reward halves?

I see. So do you think getting an S7 or an Avalon 6 would be worth it?

Hello.

I'm fairly new to bitcoin mining and recently learned that in the near feature, the block reward will halve from 25 BTC to 12.5 BTC.

What exactly does this mean? Will this mean that miners will make less BTC since pools have less to split among the workers?

Thanks for your help. I think I'll try this out then.

Second PSU is a Raidmax Thunder V2

Running it at 325 now, I'll give it some time to see what happens.

If I have another power supply (630W), would it be stupid and/or dangerous to connect 1 PSU to each chain?  And if that was possible, would that use more power or would each PSU still only use what it needed for each board?

I think your psu may be too weak.

you can try a lower freq  say 300 vs 350   if the board does not drop it means the psu has enough power for 300 freq around 920gh

and not enough for 350 freq around 1150 gh

what is the exact make  and model of your psu

The PSU is a Corsair GS 800. The miner I got has 2 fans and was defaultly set to a frequency of 387.5M.

Hello.

I recently received an AntMiner S5 and I'm mining on Slush's pool. For some reason, it seems like whenever I'm rewarded for a found block on the pool, my hash rate drops to about 600. I believe it is that chain 2 stops working, however it still shows as active ('o') on the miner's status page. So I have to restart the miner pretty much everytime I get rewarded to get back up to 1.15 TH.

The reason I think it's chain 2 is because when I unplugged that board, it kept hashing at 600 GH after a block is found.

Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas how to fix it? Thanks
