Is Catcoin dead? No pool, no explorer, no normal exchange, no git update, founder not login to forum about half year.

No, it is not dead.  Life issues happened and seed nodes are still working, and geekhash.org is still working, and seems to be the only pool.  I would LOVE to see more pools open!

The explorer is being worked on again, as different versions of software don't like older ones, so that will be online soon.

There are 62 libboost-dev packages!

But luckily I got it compiled by downgrading libssl-dev (version 1.1) to libssl1.0-dev. So it is probably this API change in OpenSSL. It broke a lot of software. After starting it did synchronize VERY quickly, but then it stopped at 1 hour behind. Processed 121171 blocks. At the moment it has 4 peers, three with 0.9.3 and one with 0.9.2. I started a verifychain. Maybe there is an issue.

Thanks.

PS: Or maybe the problem was the chain itself? Now I am up to date with 121172 blocks.

Very glad to hear you got it compiled.  When you synced, it probably was on a long block. Smiley
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - 0.9.3.0 on: October 18, 2017, 07:54:50 PM
Yes, I am running Debian 9.2. I can't compile the CLI and the QT version. Both have problems with errors in bignum.h. I heard about an API change in OpenSLL. I assume that is the reason for this. Stretch has OpenSSL version 1.1.

The error messages are all like:
bignum.h: In function 'bool operator>(const CBigNum&, const CBigNum&)':
bignum.h:588:83: error: cannot convert 'const CBigNum*' to 'const BIGNUM* {aka const bignum_st*}' for argument '1' to 'int BN_cmp(const BIGNUM*, const BIGNUM*)'
 operator>(const CBigNum& a, const CBigNum& b)  { return (BN_cmp(&a, &b) > 0); }
                                                                       ^
(the pointer points to the last ")" in the previous line)

or for the QT version e.g.:
rc/base58.h: In function 'bool DecodeBase58(const char*, std::vector<unsigned char>&)':
src/base58.h:100:42: error: cannot convert 'CBigNum*' to 'BIGNUM* {aka bignum_st*}' for argument '1' to 'int BN_mul(BIGNUM*, const BIGNUM*, const BIGNUM*, BN_CTX*)'
         if (!BN_mul(&bn, &bn, &bn58, pctx))
                                          ^
(pointer pointing to the ")" before the last ")")

I went and googled the error, and it looks like it is a Debian 9 issue.  No real answers on how they got around it, other than one post I saw someone suggesting to check the SSH and Boost libraries.  Have you installed every boost dev library?

Prohashing has updated to 9.3.0

I want to mine some catcoin with an L3+, but can't seem to get it working and can't register at prohasing, any other pools that are live, or guide to solo mine around?

I sent you a message for details on your GeekHash account you created if you want to mine there.

To solo mine, you will need to add the following to your catcoin.conf file

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
# rpcport can be any port you wish
rpcport=9932
rpcallowip=IP of your L3
server=1

After editing the file, you need to restart your Catcoin wallet.
Make sure that your firewall will allow incoming to the port you selected

On your rig, you would set the following:
url: IP of your Catcoin wallet : port (I.E. 192.168.2.100:9932 )
username: rpcusername you set in the config file
password: password you set in the config file

Unless they have changed things in the last few releases, the Antminers have been reported to not be able to solo-mine without a stratum pool front end.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - 0.9.2.0 - NEW THREAD on: August 09, 2017, 09:25:14 PM
Just an update, letting you know that we are still alive and purring!

We updated the wallet on github, and Slimepuppy has compiled a new windows wallet, and has updated the OP.  We are in the process of getting a Mac wallet compiled too.

Changes in version 0.9.3.0

Added Multi-Sig to the GUI wallet submitted by Jaboja
Added checkpoints up to 8-8-2017
Added the ssl DER code submitted by ZeroDrama
Fixed a bug in the block acceptance timestamps.  The old code was looking back 6 blocks instead of the last block to accept or reject by timestamp.  This fix will take effect 09-01-2017 00:00:00 UTC.
Updated copyright dates

Cryptopia has been notified of the new code, and they will be updating soon.  Slimepuppy is notifying other pools and explorers owners.

GeekHash has been fully upgraded with this code.

Are there any new addnodes?  The ones on the OP don't seem to be working.

Edit: Looks like after at least 8 hours, it finally found a node to communicate with to finish syncing.

I have 20 connections.

This one is causing the problem I think, the only one on an older version and you can see that the bytes sent/recieved are extremely hihg:

Code:

        "addr" : "192.99.13.67:50394",
        "services" : "00000003",
        "lastsend" : 1459109854,
        "lastrecv" : 1459109855,
        "bytessent" : 183272754934,
        "bytesrecv" : 9404197537,
        "blocksrequested" : 2,
        "conntime" : 1458895868,
        "version" : 70002,
        "subver" : "/Satoshi:0.9.1.1/",
        "inbound" : true,
        "startingheight" : 48642,
        "banscore" : 0

There is no command to disconnect this node.

Is there an option in the .conf file to ban a node. Like opposite to "addnode=" ?

What I have had to do in the past, since there is no direct ban that can be done in the config file, is manually block all in and out traffic of that specific IP address.

The node should auto ban for sending crap data, but since it is not actually sending bad data, but just asking over and over and over for data, it doesn't trigger the ban for that IP.

Can someone explain this, the debug log is getting spammed constantly with this. In the last few months it grew to over 4,5GB in size. This is funny, the blockchain size is only 40MB, but the debug.log is over a hundred times bigger Cheesy

I am killing this node if this does not get fixed.

Unfortunately, that was the results of the last forking that happened.  You should be able to stop your catcoind, and restart it.  While it is stopped, you can delete your debug.log to free up your hdd space.  You may also want to delete your peers.dat file too, because it is still hooking on to the old forks, and your peer.dat file has old non-updated nodes listed.

Another altcoin, how many altcoins do we seriously need nowadays. I know that there are advantages of one over the other but can't we just have a handful of coins then perfect it? The reason why altcoins are nowhere near bitcoin at the moment because the funds are vastly distributed amongst all the altcoins.

This is not another "NEW" coin.  CatCoin is over 2 years old now.

You can add CAT to Cryptopia only for 0.075 BTC  https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/492

Thanks for pointing our eyes to this exchange.  It looks like CAT is already in the vote list.  Adding my votes daily now!

Hi,
there are so many DOGE lovers, and where are CAT lovers?
So low market cap.
Thank you for your work. I remember CAT.
Maybe to join forces with MEOW coin?

I have a question.
Estimated CAT inflation or total supply over the next 10 years?

The information is needed for http://alt19.com/19/cryptocurrency.php

Thanks

If MEOW adds in auxpow, then I will add it to be MergeMined with CAT on GeekHash.

BIG news for GeekHash mining pool! http://geekhash.org

We now have MERGED MINING!!!! (BETA TESTING)

Mine CAT, and get some DOGE too!

For those mining SHA256 coins, there is also BTC / UNO merged mining.

If you have any other coins that have auxpow that you would like to see added to the merge mined list, let me know, and I will look into adding it!
