1  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS Releases Tax Rules on BTC on: March 31, 2014, 11:45:54 PM
Since "virtual currency" is considered a property by IRS, wouldn't property tax rules will apply then even when you mine your coins?

Also correct me if I am wrong but different states have different property tax rules and you have to report them to your local county.
2  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: FinCEN responds to clarification requests on: August 30, 2013, 04:11:38 AM
I updated my request.  I asked FinCEN if they regulate the people who collect cans and bottles and turn them in for the prepaid deposit.  If not, then I asked them explain the difference between that activity and Bitcoin mining and why one activity would get regulated and not the other.

Fincen needs to get busy!

That's a really good question for them to collaborate on.

I was thinking about how they define their terms in the document.
"The term money transmission services means the acceptance of currency, funds, or other value that substitutes for currency from one person and the transmission of currency, funds, or other value that substitutes for currency to another location or person by any means."
"By contrast, a person that creates units of convertible virtual currency and sells those units to another person for real currency or its equivalent is engaged in transmission to another location and is a money transmitter."
Unless I am thinking something wrong, those 2 contradict each other. The first one states that in order to transmit money you have to take it from a person and then give it to another person or location whereas the second one states that you just need it to transmit to another location.
3  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: FinCEN responds to clarification requests on: August 29, 2013, 02:27:39 AM
I have a question about FinCEN, what is published by them a law? Or law is what published by Federal Government and different US states? There seem to be differences.  Huh

Also if you want to register as a money transmitting business there are certain prerequisites. For examples some states require you to meet certain Tangible Net Worth, does that mean if you don't meet that you cannot be licensed as a money transmitting business?

7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5,210 stream processors - Dual-GPU AMD Radeon HD 8990 on: December 17, 2012, 01:15:12 PM

Because they do. A 5970, 6990, and 7990 all are crossfired internally and behave as if they are crossfired dual gpu. They do NOT act like a single gpu card. If your game only supports a single GPU, your dual GPU card will only see a load on one core, not both.

It's relatively same issue as if you ran sli. But the game stuff would be an issue on developer side.
I always used nvidia; since getting in btc tried out radeon for gaming. Let's see ..nvidia took over the market with cooler graphics card with stock fan and almost no drivers issues.
on the other hand amd's getting better..

anyways my point is....nvidia would have to get ready for gtx790...

or even more..sooner mobile computing power will overcome desktop power..

Omg, I need this....will trade my gtx670 ...
hm run spoutcraft on full settings...I wonder ^_^

Crossfire only works in full screen mode, and also is still plagued by microstutter unless you get at least THREE GPU's. If thats fine with you, then by all means go amd for gaming. I know I won't when I upgrade.

I don't see where you coming from with crossfire? I did not say anything about that.
Unless of course nvidia comes out with something as powerful. So it all depends.
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: What to do if you're crazy about a girl that has a boyfriend? on: December 11, 2012, 07:05:54 PM
Imagine if you put all the hard work into trying to get her and then she would still stay with the other guy, you would only make it difficult for yourself.
Just forget about it...and then if that doesn't work out for her, there will be a surprise.

13  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Spent a long afternoon with my Air Compressor on: November 29, 2012, 06:33:25 PM
Is your electricity is that expensive that on 5.5 GH/s you could only make $1 a day?

Also when you dusting off with air compressor, the best thing is to turn on your vacuum and suck in all the dust that comes out. I try to do it every week to all of my computers.  Wink

17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Running an Nvidia card and ATI card side by side, but the ATI card won't mine. on: November 24, 2012, 11:22:45 AM
It's strange.
I had input from both graphics cards that's how I was able to assign desktops.
You could try going to devices and printers and see if windows can see 2 monitors. If you have both graphics cards plugged in into the monitor, it should show you 2 monitors one with dvi input and 1 with vga. You might have to add/detect a new device in there, maybe it will help.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Running an Nvidia card and ATI card side by side, but the ATI card won't mine. on: November 24, 2012, 07:31:00 AM
I ran gtx670 and radeon 5970 at the same time. Playing on nvidia and mining on radeon.
Nvidia was on hdmi and radeon was on dvi. Both plugged into the same monitor at once.
I had to change my input to dvi, then go to the catalyst control panel and set the radeon to that desktop (in my case it was #2).
Then go back to hdmi input and set nvidia to the other desktop (#1).

After that I was able to change speeds in msi afterburner and mine.
