When bitcoin hits mainstream, the block reward will be small and mining profit comes from transaction fees. Transaction fees are partially based on size already, and in the future I believe that it will increasingly depend on size.
I would love to know the percentage of people involved in BTC that are not: A) Miners B) Speculators What do we think the percentage of people using BTC are actually 'using' BTC. That's something that I'd be interested to know too. Right now, it looks like a lot of interest in Bitcoin is there purely for mining and speculation.

Wow Bitcoins price dropping nicely , time to fill up our wallets. I was searchign for 3 days and can't find a good answer for this the best what I was thinking about is cuz of the releasment of ASIC's could that be the reason?
If it's because of the ASICs, then too many people are interested in Bitcoin for the sole reason that they hope to get "easy money" by mining, and not enough people are using for what it's supposed to be: a digital cash equivalent. The more people are using Bitcoin to buy and sell genuine products and services, the more stable it is likely to be.

I almost forgot, I'm asking about stores that accept Bitcoins directly, and not services that act as the go-between for purchases from Amazon, Newegg, or other such major stores.

So far, I've seen a lot of Bitcoin related gambling sites, "do surveys or view ads and earn Bitcoin sites," and plenty of currency exchanges. Online stores where you can buy stuff with Bitcoins seem to be few and far between. Or, they're hard to find.
So, where are the online stores where Bitcoins can be used to buy real stuff?

How do you log hours online? Mine seems to tick so slowly.
I'm guessing that you have to be logged in. I "total time logged in:" at the top of the page. It's going to tick forward as slowly (or quickly) as time itself. ;-)

I don't understand how I'm supposed to have five posts if I can only post in this forum. Am I supposed to post to this forum five times?
Start your own thread within this forum. AFAIK, you can talk about prettymuch anything Bitcoin related in this forum, so it shouldn't be too hard to reach the required number of posts.

I need some help here guys. I got my angled sata cables in today, got the card installed, but when I boot up.... no display at all. I uninstalled all the old NVidia drivers. I even downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the 5830. When I put it back in and booted again.. no display at all, but the fan is spinning. Am I missing something here? Is the card junk? Is the Raidmax 530w PSU not enough? I'm about to go apeshit crazy here.
Newer video cards require separate power cables to be plugged into them. Only high-end GPUs require power cables. For Bitcoin mining those are probably what you want, anyway. However, is it still worth using GPUs at all? FPGAs are more power efficient, and ASICs are just around the corner. The only real advantage that I can think of, is that at least you can still use the GPU for games and general computer usage, which cannot be said for FPGAs and ASICs.

Hi,
I got curious about Bitcoin after reading an article about it in the IEEE Spectrum. So, here I am...
