yeah, unfortunately, I couldn't find 0.0.0.0 anywhere on the list net stat produced  Sad  I wish there was a way I could just remove the 0.0.0.0 but I it's listed no where, so I have no idea how to locate where it is coming from.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin QT wallet won't sync on: December 30, 2019, 08:31:14 PM
Just pulled out my windows 7 laptop and my netstat gives internal connections from 127.0.0.1 and external ones from the 192.*.*.* address (aka 10.*.*.* on some networks).

/quote]

thanks for explaining that, because I just realized I wasn't reading netstat correctly. So, the PC in question already has a static IP in the form of 192.168.*.*.* When running netstat, I do see the internal connections listed as 127.0.0.1 and I also see the static IP address listed under local connections. Is that normal? Or could that cause a conflict?

I'll look at the link you posted and try and reset my static IP, maybe that's the problem. I contacted the Dev, and he gave me a list of things to try and unfortunately they didn't work. Whatever the issue is, I think it has to do with my network configuration.

Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it! I'll let you know if I make any progress.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin QT wallet won't sync on: December 30, 2019, 07:35:08 PM
I'm using windows 7. I ran netstat and being its my first time looking at this I hope I'm not making a mistake, but I don't think I saw the wallet app on there. By that, I mean I looked for the port the app should be using and saw it was not listed on there.

Also, when you say assign myself 0.0.0.0, do you mean assign my IP as that?

Please let me know if you can think of anything else to do. Thanks again for replying.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin QT wallet won't sync on: December 30, 2019, 02:29:12 AM
thanks for your reply! I tried pinging both local hosts. Pinging 192.168.109 worked. when I tried to ping 0.0.0.0, I got a "general failure" error. I so think you are right, this is a network/connection related issue. I got the same error with the firewall on and off.

I'm not sure if this information will help, but I created a new user account on the same computer, and was able to successfully get the wallet to sync. So perhaps the problem may be in a setting that is on the other account, preventing the wallet from syncing?

I found the on wikiepdia when searching "what is 0.0.0.0?":

In the Internet Protocol Version 4, the address 0.0.0.0 is a non-routable meta-address used to designate an invalid, unknown or non-applicable target. This address is assigned specific meanings in a number of contexts, such as on clients or on servers.

In the context of servers, 0.0.0.0 can mean "all IPv4 addresses on the local machine". If a host has two IP addresses, 192.168.1.1 and 10.1.2.1, and a server running on the host is configured to listen on 0.0.0.0, it will be reachable at both of those IP addresses.

here is the link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0.0.0.0

As I'm sure you can tell, I'm not very well versed in troubleshooting these kinds of problems. What next would you suggest in trying to find out what the cause of 0.0.0.0 is and how to remove it?

thanks again for your reply!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to sync my slimcoin QT wallet, but reading the debug file I get something like this:

mapBlockIndex.size() = 1
nBestHeight = 0
setKeyPool.size() = 100
mapWallet.size() = 0
mapAddressBook.size() = 1
Bound to port 41682

I'm particularly wondering about this portion of the debug file:

addrLocalHost = 192.168.1.109:41682
addrLocalHost = 0.0.0.0:41682

why are there two local host addresses? Shouldn't there only be one? To test this, I ran this same wallet on a different computer and saw that the debug showed only one local host address. Can it be possible that the wallet is getting confused at these two addresses? If so, how can I remove the bottom address (addrLocalHost = 0.0.0.0:41682)?

I'd appreciate any help! Thank you!
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac/Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: June 18, 2019, 02:23:39 AM
I'd like to try and run a single instance of cgminer for each stick and see how they do on their own. However, I'm not sure how to enter in the    "--usb :1" command on a windows pc. I'm using a gekkoscience usb hub and I'm unclear if I need to account for the usb hub when entering in command just mentioned.

Could someone kindly post an example on how to correctly enter in this command?

You can append it as is into the command line.
There should be a single_test_mining.bat included in the unzipped directory, which has that particular option set, for use as a reference.

If you want to target a specific device, you can use "cgminer -n" to get the bus:device_no.
Check the README file for the --usb syntax.

If you want to target a specific gekkoscience miner you'll need to grab a more recent in-progress build:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.msg50023699#msg50023699

thank you soo much for your help! I have literally been tinkering around with this for days and was not able to figure out how to run each stick on an individual instance of cgminer.

From the link you provided, I used --gekko-serial "serial no" to run each stick in it's own session.

Thanks again for all the help!
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac/Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: June 14, 2019, 12:03:29 AM
Hello,

I have 4 2pac miners that I'm trying to run at the same time, but I keep on getting an error message "0 chips found" on at least one of the 2pacs. Sometimes, cgminer can detect the 2pac in error after repeatedly unplugging and plugging it in. On other occasions, removing the stick and plugging it back in allows that particular stick to be detected by cgminer, but then another stick is detected as "0 chips found." Does anyone know what could be going on?

I'd like to try and run a single instance of cgminer for each stick and see how they do on their own. However, I'm not sure how to enter in the    "--usb :1" command on a windows pc. I'm using a gekkoscience usb hub and I'm unclear if I need to account for the usb hub when entering in command just mentioned.

Could someone kindly post an example on how to correctly enter in this command?

thanks very much!

For 2Pac advice, try the 2Pac support thread instead. Read the first post; it's got answers to about 90% of questions like this.

sounds good, thanks!
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: June 13, 2019, 04:24:09 PM
Hello,

can someone please tell me how to run multiple instance of cgminer at the same time? I'm running 1 newpac along with 4 2pacs and they don't seem to be getting along. I can't get all of them to run at the same time, what usually happens is that one of the 2pacs is immediately detected as "0 chips found" on cgminer. After multiple attempts of taking that stick out and plugging it back in, cgminer finally detects it. I'd be happy if things stopped at that, but usually a few hours later I get the same error message "0 chips found" on one or multiple 2pacs.

I was hoping I could separate the instances of cgminer, that is, have one window for just the newpac and another for the 2pacs and see if that would solve my problem. Another alternative would be to have an instance of cgminer open for every stick. Just wasn't sure how to enter that in my config file.

I'm running windows 10. I'm also using the official gekkoscience usb hub and a server psu, so I don't think power supply is the issue here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks!

How old are your coins? Have you tried sending them to yourself?

Thanks for your reply! I just entered that into my config file, but it still says "no staking." Any other ideas what could be wrong? This has been happening for a while, since one of the wallet updates back in 2017...I lost my coins and did "repairwallet" to get them back, but since then they haven't been staking. I gave up on it after a while, but thought I'd give it another college try Smiley Do you think the repairwallet command has anything to do with this?

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm having trouble staking my XMG. On coin control, it says my coins are at 4,500 confirmations, yet when I look at the staking icon at the bottom of the wallet, it says "not staking" and gives no explanation why. Can someone please help me out?

Thanks!

Do you have:

# posii=0 to disable PoS staking; default = 0
posii=1

in your magi.conf?

I'm using version 0.3.2.1 alpha of the wallet app. I've set up a reserve balance in the config app, but I haven't noticed anything going on. Other than unlocking your wallet for minting, is there anyway to ensure that the wallet is actually staking? I'd appreciate any help!
0.3.2.1 is a pretty old version. Which OS are you using? If using Linux I would recommend you to compile the current Git "master" branch where recently a staking bug was fixed: https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin/tree/master

For windows and without having to compile the code, the last release was: https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin/releases/tag/SLMv0.5.0 (I am almost sure it worked well). There were other inofficial releases on minkiz.co, but I don't remember if the last one already contains the bug that prevents staking.

I guess that you're not receiving PoS rewards (you see them in the transaction list), otherwise you wouldn't ask. If your biggest UTXO (an UTXO is, in a simplified manner, the coins you got in one single transaction) is superior to 1000 and you haven't transacted with these coins for more than 30 days, you should at least find a stake block every now and then.

The reservebalance must be lower than "your balance minus the UTXOs with those you want to stake". An example:
- You got the following UTXOs (transactions): 300, 600, 1500 (total: 2400)
- You want to stake with the UTXO that cointains 1500 coins.
- Thus, your reservebalance must be 900 or lower (2400 - 1500), otherwise you can't stake with the 1500-coins-UTXO.

If nothing is working, try turning the reservebalance off (open "Help"->"Debug window" and type "reservebalance false").

PS: FreiExchange is allowing deposits/withdrawals again Smiley

Longer PS: I have just checked the following thread in Peercointalk. It seems that in the debug.log in your data directory (e.g. /home/myuser/.slimcoin or on Windows a Slimcoin folder in the "Application Data" directory) you can find information about if you're staking.

Search for the following messages there:

- ThreadStakeMinter started
- CPUMiner started for proof-of-stake: Both messages seem to indicate that your client is starting to trying to mint ("to stake").
- CPUMiner : proof-of-stake block found - This seems to indicate that your client has successfully found a block. However, it's still not accepted by other clients in the network.

When you find a transaction in  your wallet giving you a minting reward, and this transaction is being confirmed, then staking was finally successful.

If you find transactions, but they are greyed out, then your PoS blocks are not accepted. This can happen because of the bug I outlined some messages before and confirmed by Graham, which has been solved in the latest master commits (and only affects you if you used experimental code). If your PoS blocks are never accepted, then you'll victim of this bug (or another one) and have to update your client.

Maybe this is the ultimate solution for the frequently asked question "Am I staking or not?" Wink

Edit: As I just saw in the Slimcoin code (line 5375 of main.cpp and the following), there are three cases where the "CPUMiner started for proof-of-stake" message will appear, but the mint process won't be starting:
- Your blockchain is still not up to date (IsInitialBlockDownload()).
- You have no connections (vNodes.empty())
- Your wallet is locked (pwallet->IsLocked())

As long as the process doesn't hang, and the message appears AND the conditions are filled, you are definitively staking.

Will try to document that ASAP on the Slimcoin homepage or the Wiki.

Hi d5000,

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm using windows 7. In the past, I've tried multiple times to use the newest version of the wallet app, but it would always crash on me, especially when mining. The only version that does not crash on me is version 0.5.0.0 Sad

Thank you very much for explaining how to set up the reserve balance, I unfortunately had entered it in correctly and that's why my wallet was not staking. However, after putting in the reserve balance staking began, the wallet has been freezing on me, and I can no longer mine. Even though the wallet is non-responsive, I still see that staking occurs (after restarting the wallet I see the new transactions appear). I looked at the directions for staking on slimco.in and it sounds like I need to minimize the number of inputs for staking. I've tried to do this in the past by sending myself a payment, but the wallet app crashed and after restarting, I could no longer connect to any peers. Fast forward a whole bunch of troubleshooting and some "voodoo computing" I was able to wallet to re-sync to the network. Since then, I've been a little scared to try sending myself another transaction. Is there anything you'd recommend me trying out to avoid this issue?

I've been trying to get into Slimcoin for the past few years, but unfortunately the issue of the wallet crashing has made it hard to be consistently involved with it, if there is something I'm doing wrong, please let me know. Thank you again for the detailed advice.

Hey everyone,

The fan on one of my moonlanders gave out a few days ago. I noticed that a few people have posted links to replacement fans earlier on this thread. I noticed however that these replacement fans do not come with a connector. That is, they come with bare wires on them. Would you happen to know where I can get the appropriate connector or where I can find a replacement fan with the correct connector?

Thanks!

You can message FutureBit on Facebook Messager and order fans that way.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.
