1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [ANN] Eloipool - FAST Python3 pool server software - GBT/stratum/dyntarget/proxy on: April 25, 2013, 02:32:42 AM
This is all I get when I try running ./eloipool.py:

Code:
root@pool:~/eloipool# ./eloipool.py
Illegal instruction

Any ideas?  Huh
try this
Code:
root@pool:~/eloipool# python ./eloipool.py

Gives the same message.

Edit: tried with "python eloipool.py -d" but there's no debug info either.

3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Mining Rig Specs on: April 23, 2013, 12:37:52 AM
Hey guys, thanks a lot for taking the time to read this.

Essentially I am looking to put together a 'bare bones' mining rig with the specs below.  Does anybody have any concerns or suggestions about this?  Would actually be mining PPCoin, not BTC.

Before placing the order just want to make sure that we haven't missed anything with the specs and that it will all work.  Of course, I also want to get the most out of my money.

2. Why are BFL not just sitting on their ASICs and mining just by themselves and become millionares?

The boiler-plate response to this is that the people who got richest during the gold rush were the ones selling shovels.

Consider an analogous question: why didn't Satoshi just mine every last Bitcoin for himself?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Pushpool - Tech Support on: April 18, 2013, 11:51:10 PM
After everything, I get to the last steps and:

Code:
./configure: line 5901: syntax error near unexpected token `,'
./configure: line 5901: `LIBCURL_CHECK_CONFIG(, 7.10.1, ,'

you need libcurl.m4 placed in a pkg-config folder somewhere.

Thank you for setting me on the right path. In case anyone else is having this problem, this is how I solved it:

I found hangover's helpful post which mentioned the following steps:

Quote from: hangover
cp /usr/local/share/doc/curl/libcurl/libcurl.m4 m4

Then add string "ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I m4" to file Makefile.am and edit file autogen.sh - replace string "aclocal" with "aclocal -I m4".

Before I could do this, I had to do the following:

Code:
apt-get install libcurl3-dev curl-dev
apt-get install locate
updatedb
locate libcurl.m4

This showed me where libcurl.m4 was. Then I could copy it to the m4 directory, and the rest is history.

Vuxil,

Could you release the modifications you made to mmcFE for PPCoin? I'm curious to try my hand at running a PPC pool.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Pushpool for PPCoin? on: April 15, 2013, 09:29:01 PM
I have a dedicated server and the motivation to setup a PPCoin pool. Before I re-invent the wheel I was wondering if anyone had modified pushpool to work with PPCoin? If not, does someone have tips about how to go about doing that? Any help is greatly appreciated!  Grin

Thanks.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / "Minting suspended due to locked wallet." - how do I unlock my wallet? on: April 14, 2013, 08:59:18 PM
It looks like PPC won't mint proof-of-stake coins because my wallet is locked/encrypted. How do I unlock/decrypt it?

You've based it on Bitcoin technology. Is this a competitor to Bitcoin?

Absolutely not! The two serve quite different purposes. The properties of Bitcoin make it analogous to precious commodities like gold or silver, and it will always function as a useful store of value. Freicoin, on the other hand, is meant to be used as a medium of exchange only, kept on hand just long enough to provide a cash-flow buffer. The demurrage fee encourages recipients of Freicoin to put their money to use as soon as possible in an exchange (even by buying bitcoins, for example), whereas the deflationary nature of Bitcoin rewards hoarding and serves a different purpose as a long-term store of value.

Can someone explain why someone would want to convert BTC to FRC in order to exchange?  What is the added value of using FRC as an exchange currency?

Another to add to the list. I originally ordered a Jally, but upped to a Little Single when they became available.

I am also outside the US.

I can't imagine this being for anything other than nefarious purposes.

Given that, I can't help but ask: why poison the well?
