1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: February 04, 2014, 06:29:09 AM

How do the counterparty people respond to Vitalik's criticism about mastercoin/counterparty/coloredcoins?
In many ways, this concept of bolting on data on top of bitcoin just has an awkward feeling to it.

Oh. And make sure to also take advantage of 2 factor auth, dual passwords. Make sure you use their backups and try to keep these very secure. Look into their chrome extension. Large balances should be kept on paper.

Go to blockchain.info and you can search for a bitcoin address to check balance. To use it you can open a wallet there and import the private key.

I think this thread is particularly appropriate given the recent volatility.  Much fun to watch with some Dewers.  And watching Cabrera vs. Scott!  I'm ready for the big slide down!

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Would Someone Sell ASIC When They Can Make 100x More By Running Them? on: February 26, 2013, 02:57:13 AM
My understanding is that when many come online difficulty will go up - so you take a risk about your return rather than making guaranteed cash up front.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: February 26, 2013, 02:55:48 AM
I've gone the route of live ubuntu cd, bitaddress to generate addresses, encrypt with gpg and store encrypted backups online in multiple places.

Hello - I've been on the board lurking for a while and would like to post in the ripple giveaway thread.
How many posts are necessary before having that privilege?

Edit: Never mind - found it.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Contacting Theymos/Support on: November 18, 2012, 11:24:57 AM
Sorry, please ignore.  Need to PM theymos and hoping a test post will give me permissions.

Edit:

That didn't seem to work - is there any way to contact an admin or support for a newbie?
