Does the code really need to be open source if every transaction is verifiable?

3.1 BTC I would like to get back. Fat chance of ever seeing these guys again though.
I would happily keep my investment with them and wait until they get their hardware if they actually maintained a presence here on the forum and/or had a working contact form on their website.
It looks like they've cut and run, but if that isn't the case then they're being completely irresponsible, which is nearly as bad.

I understand the general theory of pooling resources and splitting the rewards based on work contributed, and I've read the pooled mining wiki page at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Pooled_mining, but I have one question about a technical detail of pooled mining. When someone contributes a share, does that affect the work the rest of the pool does? Does the share just show that work was done therefore the user is entitled to some reward, or does the share show exactly what work was done so other miners in the pool avoid using the same nonce values that don't solve the block, for instance? Does a miner who has contributed shares but not solved a block help the other miners in the pool to solve the block more quickly, or is that miner getting paid for doing work that hasn't actually contributed anything valuable?

I'm a bit surprised, but a fan seems to have done the trick.

I've tried re-seating it a few times now with no improvement.
I don't have a fan on them yet. The fan is certainly something I am going to try, but I don't have much hope since the one device is consistently slower than the other and they are both in the same location.

I got two USB erupters the other day. One of them chugs along at 333.5 MH/s but the other only produces 321.5 MH/s. Is there anything I can do to fix the slower one? I know 10 MH/s isn't anything to lose sleep over, but if there is an easy fix that would be nice.

Up to 3.1.1: -G 3.1.2 and newer: -S opencl:noauto
That did it. Not sure how I missed it in the readme when I searched for "disable". Thanks for the PEBKAC support.

I just got a couple USB Erupters and I am mining with them just fine. I would like to know if there is a command line argument I can use to disable my GPU from mining with BFGMiner.
using bfgminer -S all starts up both my USB Erupters and my GPU (shown as OCL 0). Then I have to go into GPU options and disable it.
How can I disable OCL 0 via command line when starting BFG Miner?

It seems 60 was the borrom after all... Wait 2-3 days Yeah, I don't think we've hit bottom yet either.

Yeah, that was the intent of my question. If you could in theory buy some mining hardware today and have it delivered in one week or less, what would 1GH/s be worth right now.
It seems I wasn't too far off with my $100 figure, you would probably break even at the very least. $75 should ensure some profit.
Just goes to show I paid about 3x what I should have for a couple of USB Erputers. Oh well, live and learn. At least I didn't buy 10 or more.
Who knows, maybe difficulty won't keep skyrocketing if all the promised ASIC deliveries don't come to pass and/or the BTC price keeps dropping. BTC losing more value would obviously negatively impact ROI though. I tend to think people who do get ASIC devices will mine with them no matter what though, since they can't do anything else with them. So the difficulty skyrocketing is virtually guaranteed, only an impediment to ASIC devices being delivered can prevent it.

What price per GH/s is worth it to purchase right now? With this calculator http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator using a BTC price of 75 USD and current difficulty one GH/s will mine $53 in a month. How should one project out after that to account for the rise in difficulty? Just half the dollar amount to account for a doubling of diff every month? $50 month 1, $25 month 2, $12 month 3, $6 month 4, $3 month 5, $1 month 6 ? Is 1 GH/s only worth about 100 USD right now, or is my admittedly very crude estimation too pessimistic?

I didn't want to stir up an issue, I was just a bit confused. Thanks for the clarification.

some from the OP have shipped due to available supply from 7.
Oooh, does this mean mine have shipped from you already, Canary? I'm first on the list, but it doesn't show as shipped in the OP. Edit : I see the last folks on the list got theirs shipped first

There is something they need to fix in their web hosting setup. hashrack.com and www.hashrack.com both resolve to the same IP, but only www.hashrack.com works in IE. hashrack.com works fine Chrome, but IE doesn't like it.

I missed out on this round. I want to get two and I have the BTC now. I'm also hoping to see the next round open tomorrow!

Well, its over. Interested to see if I am confirmed in group 7 or if I'll be in group 8.
I'll be able to send and sign with my private key very soon, just waiting for the QT software to download the entire blockchain.
I could actually be mining with USB powered ASIC some time soon, that seems pretty cool to me.

BFL 26 - 5Gh/s 14 - 25Gh/s
So you've pre-purchased 480 GH/s worth of hardware from BFL and you've sold 520 GH/s worth of hashpacks. What are you going to do to make up the difference? Place another pre-order with BFL and leave the newest hashpack purchasers likely waiting until 2014 before their virtual workers are running? Or is there other hardware you might use to supply the currently purchased hashpacks for a more timely delivery?

When BTC is trading at over $1000 all of that "dust" is going to be worth alot. If I can only use BTC to transfer large amounts of cash I would be using it much less than I am now.
When BTC is trading at over $1000, they'll change the rules regarding dust transactions so that it's value is sub-cent again. Logic. How are they going to adjust the dust amount on the fly when BTC are trading at $650 USD on week and $200 USD the next week? Maybe letting miners decide what to include in the block chain instead of hard coding it into the software perhaps? I thought the whole point of this system was to let the market determine what works and to avoid using some human decree as the law of the land.

I PM'd you, URSAY. I have a cash payment that I made but I haven't received the bitcoin payment to my address yet. The details are in the PM.
Thanks.
Disregard that one, I have the bitcoins now. Thanks.
