1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: restored wallet from backup - times differ on: June 14, 2016, 03:54:18 PM
That makes total sense.  Thanks for the explanation, Foxpup!
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / restored wallet from backup - times differ on: June 14, 2016, 08:25:28 AM
I recently restore my wallet.dat from a backup since my current one appeared to be corrupted (or at least, it kept causing Bitcoin-Qt to crash).  That worked, and all my Bitcoins are still there, phew! Tongue
One thing I noticed though is that the transaction times are slightly different, usually a few minutes later than in my original wallet.  Can anyone tell me why?  I'm assuming it's something to do with the way the Blockchain works, but I couldn't find any info on this.
Thanks in advance...

I recently received a free Yubikey from MtGox.  I have no use for it, so I am selling...
Here's the original email I got from MtGox:

Quote
Thank you for using MtGox.

We appreciate your presence and would like today to give you
a free Yubikey. Considering recent problems with hacked accounts,
hacked computers and more, we see the Yubikey as a good step
toward better security.

You can read more on the Yubikey from the Yubico website:
http://www.yubico.com/ - note that the yubikey we offer is only
usable on MtGox.

To receive your free yubikey, you just need to login on mtgox.com,
click "Security Center" in the menu.  Then, click "Add New" under the Yubikey menu.
Choose if you want either a yubikey with our logo or not, and on the next page
enter the following code:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

(note: this code will expire in 1 month.)

Important: Please click on "Add Coupon" underneath otherwise your order will be charged.
Once done, you can fill your address, and confirm your order on the following page.
Please remember that the code can be used only once (after confirming your address,
the code will not be usable anymore).

Please be advised that if your country's custom charges any duty or tax upon the arrival of your Yubikey, we will not be able to refund that.

You can also give this code to someone else and let them get a
free Yubikey.

Enjoy your trading!

From all the MtGox team

0.75 BTC, anyone?
Please get in touch if you're interested.  Once I send you the code you will be able to have the Yubikey shipped, free, to wherever you like.

Cheers.

Thanks for your replies.  I guess I remember the days when you could get at least twice as many BTC for your $, but then a few months back things suddenly shot up, and the exchange rate has been high ever since!
So maybe I am delusional if I hope it will ever drop again Tongue

I think it's only fair to put requirements into place.  The 5 post minimum seems pretty relaxed....  I must say I'm unsure about the 4h of time logged on.  How is this measured exactly?  Seems a little steep.  Then again, it's your forum so you get to make the rules Wink

Yup, this looks great!  So far I've always used Bitcoin Charts, but it's a great idea to put this sort of stuff into an application.
Downloading now....
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Exchange rate... on: November 21, 2012, 12:09:36 PM
Hi, since I'm a noob here, I was wondering what you make of the current BTC exchange rate, for example as shown on Bitcoin Charts.
Seems pretty crazy, doesn't it?!
Do you think things will ever improve, i.e. more BTC to the $ again?

Would be interested in hearing your opinions.  Thanks in advance Smiley
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Have You Bought With Bitcoin? on: November 21, 2012, 12:06:31 PM
Traded some for cash, and bought a computer game with them too.  Waiting for the exchange rate to improve :p

Hi everyone,

Pleasure to make your acquaintance Smiley
Thought I'd get talkin' about Bitcoins, since I think they will play a increasingly important role in the future!

Hope you're all having a good week, cheers.
