Wasn't expecting Geek to cover this... and REALLY wasn't expecting them to leak it before VentureBeat this Friday...

Still - the result is the same - you can now officially buy spaceflights with BTC.

Crap. Media leak. article now on http://www.geek.com/articles/geek-cetera/buy-your-way-onto-a-space-flight-using-bitcoins-20130213/

(We were expecting this on Venturebeat on Friday... not on Geek.com on Wednesday!)

Guess we'll find out if the system works now...

Hey everyone,

So I run kind of a curious project - we're basically trying to get into space for $10. (Or rather, 0.5 BTC ish)

Here's the link to the site: https://www.idreamofspace.com/

We just started accepting BTC - but I wanted some feedback on the user-experience... would anyone consider purchasing a unit and letting us know?

FYI - if you're not happy with the transaction, just hit 'reply' to email us with your comment and I'll refund your purchase.

(Note: VentureBeat tells us we're getting an article out on Friday - hence the testing - if you're reading this after 14th Feb 2013, it's no longer relevant.)

The first 5 people who give us feedback get an extra 3 free entries into the draw to go to space.

P.S. Yes, I know, it's sounds pretty unusual - we <3 skeptics and please feel free to ask questions - only I'd ask you check out the

...Before asking questions - chances are we've answered it!

Thanks in advance, looking forward to being part of the BTC community!

Ahem. We could put it on one of these: http://www.nanosatisfi.com/

Wouldn't get much computing power - but a nanosat is the best way to go.

FYI, I'm a bit of a space geek - let me know if you're actually serious about this and I can get some costings Smiley

Hi Reuben,

Are you any relation to Daniel Metcalfe?

Not to the best of my knowledge, though it's quite possible. I understand I'm around 600'th in line for a 'Metcalfe' castle in Scotland somewhere. If I ever decide to go 'Highlander' I might have to look him up.

(Thought you all might appreciate this - do let me know if this is an inappropriate place to put it)

Hey guys.

So what's up?

I've been logged in for a good 24 hours now, and still locked into the 'newbie' thread... 5 posts and everything.

Am I missing something here?

Jail makes me sad.

I'm a merchant! Look! Here's a link to one of our bitpay products:

Huh? Huh?

I'd be interested in hearing how things work out - I'd like to reach out to the bitpay community as well, would be interested in hearing some of the things you've tried.

(On that note - are there any bitcoin-related bloggers out there we can turn into affiliates/give merch to?)

Hi there!

I run a project that's attempting to break-up the cost of suborbital space-flights, to sit within the realm of accessibility for the 99%, so to speak.

Basically, every time someone gives us $10USD (Or soon, the equivalent in BTC) we give them a 1 in 25,000 chance of going into space.

Cool huh?

Here's the site: www.idreamofspace.com

We're running at around 600 customers in 27 countries at the time of this post, I'm joining the forum because I figure the kind of person interested in using BTC, would likely be the same kind of person interested in space travel and progressing humanity in general... that, and I'm a geeky futurist type who likes to learn from other geeky futurist types.
