Hello, now that’s it’s getting cooler outside I’m going to turn the apollos (BTC and LTC) back on. This time I’m thinking of solo mining. Is direct solo mining still planned for BTC? Anyone doing it - is CK pool the best?
Thank you!

Kano Pool is where I would recommend for Solo or PPLNS, https://kano.is
very low fees, and fantastic mining info and help from Kano and the miners on the pool.

Make sure to join the Discord channel and get all the help and info.

Good Luck with the mining.

Question about "DISK /MEDIA/NVME USAGE". I'm getting close to the 457.45 GB limit. Are there instructions for adding more space? Thanks!

I'm also here looking for answers to this question, I'm finding my main miner is getting disconnected, its still showing up on the wifi but i can't access the miner

is the M.2 slot NVMe or is it sata?
NVMe. Don't know if it'll accept sata.

I replaced the SSD with a Crucial P2 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Internal SSD, found one for a really good price on ebay, it has now fully synched, it took just over two days and is reporting:

455.35 GB
Blockchain Size
Remaining Space: 52.59%

Hope this helps.

My batch 3 standard unit's fan is making grinding noises while it is running and this was recently received in January.  Is there anyway to replace this fan?  If I place the unit on the side, the grinding noise is minimal.

Hi, yes it is easy to replace the fan, I used a Sunon Miniature Fan 5VDC Square 25 x 25 x 6mm 2.2 CFM 2 Wire Leads, I cut the wires from the connector, leaving plenty of wire to reattach and then soldered the new fan to the wires and connector.

Not sure where you are but there is a company on ebay uk that has these at a good price.

£3.99 each inc shipping, I am sure you will be able to find one and they are a fantastic replacement.

If I had a dollar for every time someone said xxx amount of Bitcoin is not worth my time over the history of Bitcoin I would be a billionaire by now.

FYI you should be mining 1500-2k satoshis a day per unit. Keep in mind it takes at least 24 hours for your pool hashrate to stabilize and be able to show you how much BTC your earning accurately. And yes those 1-2k satoshis will have been more than worth your time in hindsight.

Stack those sats.

If they were mining as expected then I would have no reason to be disappointed.  They just aren't.  I can accept that maybe the issue is that these don't play well with Nicehash, although someone stated they did.  I am not having that experience.  Until I take the time to set them up on a different pool I guess I really shouldn't comment any further.  I will say that I've been in the community for several years longer than you, and have mined with just about every miner that has existed since the FPGA days (I was one of the first customers to ever mine with an ASIC), but I do appreciate your urge that I stack sats...  I also do respect what you've built.  I couldn't have done it.  I just wish I was getting more than 50% of the expected hashrate.

Hi, hope this helps.

These are recent results, but elecktrickery is ridiculously expensive for me in the UK, and due to increase when my 1 yr fix ends in feb, and rumours in UK news that it will then increase by approx 50% in April, ouch!
Already paying almost £0.17 per KWH at moment, but at least this miner is going to make a little less than it costs to run, and if we get a good BTC price increase that we all believe must happen, then it will have been well worth while, a nice little way to buy a small amount of BTC each month.

Anyway to my results.

I made the mistake of performing a hard shutdown 5+ times while the node was running. Temp reading was working normally after first few boots.

Now, dashboard under Miner reads:

"There is a problem fetching system stats (Internal error)."

I lost internet and was managing my unit remotely, also had no other option but to power it off the old fashioned way.
Ended up with the same issue as you, asked about it extensively on here but never got a solution.

Magically without explanation it all started working again about 2 months later.... so who knows, but I don't think its bricked.
Mine still mined and function properly, just lost all the system stats in the dashboard.

Hope this helps
I had the same "There is a problem fetching system stats (Internal error) a while back
Re flashed SD card using Balena Etcher using download link on page 1 of this forum.

Apollo BTC SD Card Image/OS Download and Install

Folder for all Apollo BTC Image Releases: https://mega.nz/folder/ZlxnwYZb#ZN77cDAcXa6dN_2QKSdT_Q

Release 12/17/21

Fixed problem either on my first or second flash.
All has been good since then.

There was no need to remove NVME DRIVE, all worked fine afterwards and no need to re synch.

Good Luck

I've also still been having trouble keeping all 3 of my units hashing. A lot of the time one of them will drop off and stop hashing, after reading the messages above I tried moving down to Eco mode and they've been running stably since. I have the official futurebit PSU's that I'm using with them, so not sure if it's a power problem or something else. I'm likely gonna keep them on eco mode since the efficiency makes more sense for me with my high electric rate, but wanted to confirm so far turning down the hashrate has helped the stability issues I had with running 3 units (1 full 2 standard). Not sure if it's an internet connectivity issue since it seemed to happen while the rest of my internet is working just fine. I'm excited for future updates and sure the new firmware will be very helpful Smiley

This most likely is miner binary crashing. It crashes every few days, on every machine. You can resolve this by looping it in bash script, I posted it in this thread a few months ago. Unless this is already fixed for Full units? I don't know.
Greetings from UK

Loving this little Apollo BTC Miner.Full package but using Corsair CX750M PSU.
Probably stopped once in over a month with a short power outage here in UK

Great with my silly expensive Electrickery price Octopus energy 1 year fix approx £0.16 per KWH.

6 days up and running this time, maybe a fairly high error rate.

Hi Kano,

Many thanks for the dust, not mined for a few years now, worth about 10 times more than the last time I looked at it's value.

Wishing good luck and happiness to you and your pool.
I still look on here everyday hoping you have found a block.

Best Wishes.
