I understand the reasoning behind making the giveaway coins and redemption a closed loop at first, you don't want to flood the network with coin that has been trading and privately held since the ICO. Better to wait until it's being actively used and accepted. If we are all able to get 100 free with the web wallet and can start transacting with that, it'll help get the coin moving...and that's a good thing. We also, as supporters of the concept, really need to spread the word.
The speculators aren't going to like the news too much, because it isn't designed to pop the price or spike trade volume. There is no impetus for a price move because there is no increased demand for the coins that are currently in open circulation and trading...you won't be able to use them on the payment network yet, anyway...and who knows when you will? But I'm holding long because I believe in the concept, and I really hope GoCoin is able to execute on the promise.
Well put. I'm also holding for the long game, and indeed this is going to do a lot for the coin, maybe not in the short term but certainly in the long run as the system matures. |

For the time being, GoPoints will be exclusively offered in a "closed loop". That is, those GoPoints issued to merchants in the GoPayWin network and won by consumers will be the only points available in the GoPayWin wallet. Please expand on what you mean by a "closed loop". Are we talking about the same blockchain or not? Can I spend the ZRC that I mined (now GoPoints) in any of the enabled merchants or not?  I'm happy to see some update, but I have serious reservations as to what this "closed loop" signifies, from a practical standpoint, as well as to all of us that have been holding or mining ZRC since launch... Would appreciate a comprehensive clarification. As I understood it, the blockchain will remain completely the same and we will be able to use our mined ZRC once the merchant network has had time to use the new system for a while. So for a while the GoPoints (ZRC) that will be used will only be from the website, but then it will be opened up to blockchain usage for depositing of the mined and bought funds from current wallets. |

Its currently looking like a week or two before another large update from the devs, lets wait and see what they come up with. With the new system https://www.gopaywin.com I am feeling confident that the coin will kick off again, given some more development. |

It seems to me this may be the next evolution of Gocoin into a broader payments processor and trying to make crypto friendlier to the average person. Just guessing but I think this is less a "side product" from Gocoin and Ziftr but what is going to be their main business model in the near future. As long as Ziftrcoin (Now GoPoints) remains along the same ideals it was originally sold on then I'm happy with what GoCoin is doing. However, from what it looks like, they will need to do a lot more to integrate GoPoints as the cryptocurrency it should be. |

Waiting on the final public release of the merchant platform, apparently with the give-away around the same time. Hopefully once the merchant network is functional and streamlined the trade volume and price will follow swiftly behind. I'm confident in the economics of the coin's success once the system is implemented and running, but I am feeling a bit cheated on the side of investor communication.
For many months there was zero communication. Then a few weeks ago was a sudden message from the devs about whats been happening but that dried up within days.
Admittedly there hasn't been a huge amount of time passed since then, but I would really like to see some sort of scheduled update or monthly AMA kind of system. Otherwise at this rate we might be waiting and hoping for more news next week, next month, the month after, until we're right back at the same communication void.

After so many months of no communication and no progress to see, its not too unreasonable to see that continuing in the future. |

Any further word on the possibility of a new block explorer?
That is rather strange. Dev appears suddenly with some news about Ziftr 11 days ago and then disappears. Also, I don't see anything new or exciting that has happened to Ziftrcoin, so I think this coin is lost unless something big happens. I was going to invest into this coin, but I'll guess I'll hold my BTC until I see something promising. A new block explorer would be a great start.  There was some mention of what might be happening and the rough estimate of 2 weeks for phase 1. I think I'll give another week or 2 before I lose all faith on the matter ...
I'll throw out a ballpark of 2 weeks to finish phase 1.
I don't think we'll be looking into a network change anytime soon, maybe once we've gotten the merchant network using the coin.
I'm still laying out a concrete plan on what types of promotions we want to run. If you have any suggestions feel free to shoot me a PM or discuss it here! The goal will be to tie every 'giveaway' to an actual purchase that will help our participating merchants out as well.

Here is a suggestion: consider a switch to PoW/PoS.
The PoS aspect will be one more reason to accept/use ziftr.
The interest from PoS would create an incentive to also hold ziftr (while strengthening network) and not just acquire ziftr for spending alone.

Personally I don't think that PoS would be best suited to this form of currency. While it would drive short term buying of the coin, it would also lead to a lot of large deposits of help coin that aren't being used and spent. It could work, but it would most likely be at an extremely small yearly percentage. Why would PoS not be suited? The large deposits of coins that are not being spent happens no matter what. Bitcoin is not PoS but has that happening. PoS will only lead to increase in holding by a small amount but still provides users some incentive to own ziftr and not just purchase when spending. The difference is people will be always invested and part of ziftr if they are actively holding it. If they are only buying ziftr for the discount then they have no reason to be active and supportive of the community or coin itself. One of the main reasons why I'm not quite so sure, admittedly, would be the number of over hyped then failed PoS coins. It could be a good fairly good incentive, but it can't overshadow the main purpose of the coin as a more commercially viable and hopefully more stable currency. On an unrelated note, any chance of a decent block explorer returning to ziftrcoin? The current 'new' block explorer https://www.reddit.com/r/ziftrCOIN/comments/3056xj/new_ziftrcoin_block_explorer/ hasn't worked for however long and the alternative is of little to no help either. |

Glad to finally have some more news! I'm looking forward to seeing this coin's wider adoption and increased consumer confidence. Hopefully we'll also see the original promises of the coin being fulfilled too.

It isn't really their job to make people who bought the coin feel good about their purchase. It's their job to make the business model and software work. If they're doing the second, the first is going to take care of itself.
People tend to forget what a long wait early Bitcoiners had, before it was even worth a penny.
However bitcoin wasn't made and sold and the promise of a $1 minimum redemption value. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, even a small update on their website would suffice to prove they are still active and working. |

As much as I still like the idea of the coin and still have some hope for it yet, as the days without significant or verified news tick past that optimism is starting to fail.
When, or indeed if, the developers decide to show their faces there will be some serious questions to answer about the severe lack of information for the last few months.
This coin could some day be one of the bigger currencies out there, but not at this rate.

Yeah that would be awesome 100 satoshi. And yes it is possible. A lot of important people are holding Sprouts with a good reason.
in 55 days, if the price stays at 0.00000006 and I continue staking at my present rate, then I'll be breakeven again with what I initially purchased at around 300 satoshi. So best I can figure is that the present price is undervalued by about 70%. SO either price could increase to about 20 satoshi or possibly it stays where it is for the next 55 days and the market cap recovers through the increase in the coin supply. I theory yes, but in practise there really isnt enough market activity for that theoretical market cap to have much meaning. |
