1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: newbie question - If i lost access to my wallets on: February 11, 2016, 03:06:14 PM
thanks a lot,

So my private keys can be imported into any wallet and it would recover my bitcoins?

final (possibly stupid ) question...what's to stop the developer of a wallet stealing them?

just being paranoid but i would like disaster situations

You should always keep backups of your private keys, whatever happens to your wallet provider/computer/house you can always access your coins again.

ah ok so its the private keys that make the bitcoin uniquely mine?

So lets say electrum disappeared (unlikely but who knows) as long as i have my private keys i could access them?

How would i go about doing that?

thanks
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / newbie question - If i lost access to my wallets on: February 11, 2016, 02:27:01 PM
hi there,

I have a complete newbie question that i am struggling to understand. basically i am using electrum as a wallet at the moment and may use some other options.

My question is , if for whatever reason the wallet provider disappears/shuts down etc how do i locate my bitcoins?

What is it that makes the bitcoins unqiue to me and would allow me and me only to access them and withdraw/send them

thanks

5  Bitcoin / Electrum / using same recieve address in electrum on: February 11, 2016, 12:37:36 PM
hi,

I have another newb questions. Basically i have withdrawn bitcoins to address that i have previously used before in electrum.

The thing is electrum has lots of different receiving addresses.

Am i ok to have used the same received address?

I assume the coins will have to show up there.

thanks

fingers crossed  Smiley

Can you tell me if i did the right process though. there is nothing more in electrum i would need to do?

If i right click on the recieveing address , there is an option to 'request payment' i didn't know if i needed to do that as well to make sure it got sent to it.

Total newb questions i know but there are quite a few bitcoins so important to get it right

thanks

ah yes i see that now thanks

But i can see that is has 0 transaction.

Although i note that coinfloor say they process 3 times per day..so many just need to wait

if i gave the address to coinfloor then i assume it has to end up in the account anyway?

10  Bitcoin / Electrum / Newb Question - Elecrtrum receive payment on: February 05, 2016, 11:52:31 AM
hi,

I am new to using electrum and need some guidance.

I have sent some money from coinfloor to my electrum wallet. Coinfloor just asked for an address to send the bitcoins.

I got the address from electrum , by going to the receive tab and saved the transaction. I set request expries 'never'

Do i need to do anything else? The request is 'pending' - maybe means coinfloor hasn't sent the money yet.

I'm worried i have not done something right?

thanks for your help
