bitcoind getconnectioncount  Cheesy

Thanks, It is working but connection count is only 8. I must have not port forwarded correctly.

Thanks for the bash script, my VPS hasn't crashed in ages. I will test how long it lasts before a crash to see if cron job is necessary.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Running a Node off a VPS on: December 18, 2012, 06:22:10 PM
Hello,

I have a VPS which I am not using and I am probably never going to use, So I will thinking of running it as a bitcoin node. Am I correct in saying all I need to do is run bitcoind with the argument "-server"?
I have opened port 8332 and while running "bitcoind -server" I do not see any network activity.

2 scenarios  exist that I can see.

1. I am doing it wrong. Which is very likely

2. The network activity is so low that it doesn't even show up on my graphs

Thanks for any help.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Problems finding private key using pywallet.py --dumpwallet(Solved) on: December 18, 2012, 03:49:22 PM
Hello,

I have tried using pywallet to extracted my private key. I have 0 luck, once I dump the wallet I get
Code:
{
    "defaultkey": "124eZYplH2kmNoC63N8PhGGgr5WxBoFgz",
    "keys": [
        {
            "addr": "1GYJJWHvCX5TrW77UN6vuU7n8vQ3IkmTebd",
            "reserve": 1,
            "sec": "L1DA86drA6vlkjKgM83d2kljyL35a46dEXkS5aMksoEF4hhuw7kfM8"
        },
(not actual keys)

I get a big list of addresses none of which are mine. I hope I am doing something stupid. The main reason I am trying to find my private key is because Bitcoin-Qt never finishes syncing, I have got to 80% once and then 90% before it just refused to sync.

Thanks for any help

EDIT:

Found the problem:

When using pywallet.py -dumpwallet I thought you could specify the location of wallet.dat but it just ignores what ever you put after it. So instead of reading my wallet.dat i was specifing it was reading the wallet used by bitcoind which I am using as a node.

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Raspberry Pi for GPU mining on: December 18, 2012, 11:01:31 AM
I have read about ASIC units but to me it sounds like they could be shipped anywhere between tomorrow and July 2013. I don't even think I would be going for a couple GPU's just using the one I have at hand. I just wanted to give it a go.

"I think the fact that the VideoCore 4 GPU doesn't support OpenCL would make this highly unlikely" are you saying because the onboard video card doesn't support openCL I am basically screwed?

I don't think I was planning on running a "profit" but doesn't that assume I find bitcoins worth the same at the price the exchange puts on it.

If you want the laptop to come with a OS then all you need is a windows CD. Even if you don't have a serial it just says "This copy of Windows is not genuine" at the bottum right hand of the screen.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Raspberry Pi for GPU mining on: December 17, 2012, 07:13:08 PM
Hello,

I have a Raspberry Pi and I was just wondering the feasibility of running a rig off a Pi. As I understand it GPU mining rigs don't require much RAM or use many CPU cycles. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of doing this?
I am sure this is more than possible, just wanted to see if anyone had any success.

Hello,

Not sure what is going on here. I suppose it does make it hard for spammers to get through.

Ps. I am BATMAN!
