2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most secure storage method? on: May 21, 2013, 08:28:01 AM
Most secure would have to be a brainwallet. So i would probly use that if i had a large amount of bitcoins/litecoins. Of course you would need to write it down somewhere in case you forgot it.
3  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Omnicoins – Buy Bitcoins, Litecoins and Namecoins in Australia on: May 21, 2013, 08:15:30 AM
Have used omnicoins a few times now, and have been very happy with the service. Can highly recommend these guys.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Speculation on Litecoin on: December 27, 2012, 11:51:25 AM
I'm speculating on the Litecoin, and I'd just like to share my thinking with the community -- perhaps it will make some of you a pretty penny too...

Sooner or later ASICs are coming to the Bitcoin world. And when they do tremendous hashing power can be had for cheap... much cheaper than a GPU. Even a little chip like BFL's "Jalapeno" retailing for $169-ish makes a GPU look like a kid's toy. Not only that, but ASICs will use minute amounts of electricity in proportion to their hash rates. So not only will miners get more hashing power for their buck, but running systems with insane amounts of hashing power will be much cheaper. And the only logical conclusion to draw from this is that mining difficulty will sky-rocket, and GPUs will no longer be suitable for mining... They simply cost too much for too little hash-power, and they consume too much energy and produce too much heat.

The ASICs are going to put GPU miners out of business almost over-night. Many people are running not just one or two GPUs but entire arrays of machines with multiple GPUs... Thus there will be a lot of bored young men with nothing to do in possession of a monstrous amount of hashing power. So what else will there be left to do but cut their losses and get out of the business, OR start mining Litecoin? That's precisely what's going to happen: Litecoin will become the scene for GPU miners looking to entertain themselves and make some profit.

As people migrate to Litecoin mining the user-base for Litecoin is going to expand and the demand for Litecoin will start rising. With a much bigger network of miners and traders, and thus more liquidity, more regular people are going to use Litecoin. Speculators will also start buying bundles of Litecoin in anticipation of more demand and a bigger user-base. This could trigger and parabolic move in the exchange rate and re-create the conditions of Bitcoin's early spike to $30... after all, I think Litecoin's designers' goal was not only to create a cheaper and more plentiful currency but to recreate the conditions that made many early adopters of Bitcoin instant millionaires. I may not get the exchange rate bubble I'm hoping for, but I'm quite confident Litecoin is going to soon be on the rise.

I won't make any predictions about the long-term future or viability of Litecoin, as it's too early to tell (though I think it has some potential). But I've been trading stocks, futures/commodities, options and FOREX for years and I "feel" a big move looming on the horizon. I've already bought some small quantities of Litecoin here and there, and I'll be adding to my position. I also have a very bullish view on Bitcoin, but as a larger and more liquid market I think it has less potential to move really big really fast. It feels like the Litecoin designers succeeded in their "Litecoin is to silver as Bitcoin is to gold" concept -- Litecoin will provide the type of trader and speculator-friendly volatility guys like me are looking for.

So don't run out and get a second mortgage on your home and put it all on Litecoin. That would be stupid. But I think it wise to buy a little here and there and see how it plays out. Use some common sense in your risk management and follow the rules of speculation and you will come out fine.

Cheers!  Cool

+1. The litecoin train is getting ready to leave the station. Are you on board yet?

Who actually does the dev for this? Is it just Sunny King?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After testing Ripple... on: December 24, 2012, 10:22:09 AM
So is ripple a competitor or friend to bitcoin? Still having trouble getting my head around it.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How long does it take to synchronize? on: December 24, 2012, 10:14:23 AM
You should be able to work out approximately how long is remaining by looking at the stats in the bottom right corner. The reason it takes so long for the final blocks is because these blocks are crammed full of more transactions, as bitcoin has become more popular.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pre-Paid Debit Card to Bitcoin (VISA, MasterCard, gift cards, etc.) on: December 24, 2012, 10:12:59 AM
I've never heard of an actual site that offers this kind of service. I think your best bet is either otc or starting a thread in currency exchange subforum.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [ANN] SwarmStream.org - Privacy-focused Torrent Service on: December 24, 2012, 10:04:55 AM
I'm curious as to who is your target market for this kind of service? Could you explain its advantages over something like pirate bay?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to you, what are the 5 best bitcoin store actually on the market ? on: December 24, 2012, 09:51:08 AM
Wikispeed is the coolest bitcoin accepting store imo:

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FreiCoin (FRC) discussion (was FreiCoin (FRC) for TRC, PPC, LTC or BTC) on: December 24, 2012, 12:28:26 AM
Who is the dev or dev team behind freicoin? I haven't really heard much about this one before.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinCAPTCHA - Free Bitcoin CATPCHA Tool on: December 24, 2012, 12:25:03 AM
This is a really cool project. I could see it being very useful for bitcoin sites, as long as it confirms quickly. Sux for people who don't have a smart phone though.

it will be quicker to make 1 more useless post than to bother with paying somebody
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Becoming a miner. on: December 24, 2012, 12:14:51 AM
Its a real interesting time to take up mining. Your options are to either buy an ASIC now, while they are still vaporware, or wait until they are seen in the wild before buying, in which case you risk ending up way down the bottom of the queue.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SellBitcoins.to Sell bitcoins for wire transfer (SEPA and ACH),WU, PayPal, Cash on: December 24, 2012, 12:06:35 AM
Give them a bit more time before labelling this a scam imo. That being said, i wouldn't use it until there was at least a couple good feedbacks here. Also why is the admin anonymous?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If LTC is a pump & dump and is to collapse BTC is too. on: December 23, 2012, 11:57:55 PM
LTC is too stable to be a pump and dump. Price has barely moved in the last month. But still has healthy volume.
