1  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Giveaway Thread? on: January 25, 2018, 05:39:14 AM
I don't get why we require a dedicated thread for this? And what exactly would people write in there? Anything as long as it's constructive? Sounds like it'd be an off topic mess to me. Why can't they just contribute to decent discussion in any of the other thousands of threads? This just seems like it'd turn into a merit begging thread. If you want merit then make decent well-thought out posts and you'll get it eventually.

That's not so easy as it sounds when there is bias involved. Roll Eyes
2  Other / Meta / Disadvantage of merit system on: January 25, 2018, 05:32:20 AM
While theymos has come up with a fruitful solution of adding merit system to combat spammers in his forum, but I have a feeling that this might not end up well enough after some time. Users having the power of crediting merits (those who are in the merit sources team) will abuse the system by only crediting merits to their friends and won't bother rating others. This is a huge centralization risk to a decentralized Bitcoin forum.

Unless theymos comes out with a solution to this issue or diversify the way merit sources will be chosen, this forum will slowly turn into reddit full of merit abusers.

Just my thoughts.
3  Other / Meta / Re: Motion / Appeal to allot Satoshi 21M Merit points on: January 25, 2018, 05:25:26 AM
You can add 50 points every 30 days and that will stack up to 21M some day. Roll Eyes

(Satoshi doesn't need merit points to prove himself worthy)
