1  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How many hashes would you get on this graphics card? on: January 29, 2013, 07:27:16 PM
GIGABYTE GV-R795WF3-3GD Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

It seems pretty boss from all the reviews. How would mining for extended periods of time effect this GPU? Would it wear and tear on it?

Thanks.
2  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Maximize hash rate on my crummy processor? on: January 24, 2013, 04:22:35 AM
So I googled a mining calculator, to see with my GPU what the chance of finding a block would be.

It's pretty grim.

I got thinking; is there anyway I can direct my mining software to basically drain my GPU? In other words, have it use it to the max so you can hardly even move the mouse around? If you can what's an average increase in hashrate for doing so?

I get 5-6 mh/s, and that's with flags. I understand you need a few gh/s to even stand a chance, and there's no way in hell I can get that on my Radeon 6250 graphics card; but money is tight and I'm really interested in mining my own BTC.

Thanks for the help.

Although BTC is a physical currency, and has potential to be implemented in society; it's kind of hard to see it actually being accepted by major businesses in the near future.

So I looked into it some more and found out how to do it. Guess I'll lock the topic.

Those are all variations of BTC. Each one is a little bit different than the other. The main point of each one is to improve on BitCoin. Most aren't popular, and are all kinda failures.

Yes, I know it's risky and the odds of finding a block by yourself are very, very, low. I understand pools are the smarter way to go.

But just for the moment, let's say I'm stupid. Where would I find the software to mine on my own? I read about it a lot, and people talk about it a lot; but how do you do it? Thanks.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / AMD Radeon HD 6250 extra flags sweetspot? on: January 16, 2013, 01:09:56 AM
I'm currently on a pretty cheap laptop from 2011. Using GUIMiner, with the flags -v -w32 vectors aggression=12, I can get it at 5.7-5.9 MH/s. I know it's pretty pathetic. I wanna know any extra flags that could get my specific GPU running at max speed, or am I already there?

Btw, I already tried over clocking both the GPU and the CPU, but my specific machine won't really allow it. Thanks.

Loveland is the codename of your GPU. It's your computer, you are supposed to know how your hardware is named lol.

This said, well, what's the problem? Your CPU make 500khash/s while your GPU 3-5mhash/s. That's all. It sucks and is very low, so it's wasted time but since it looks like a notebook it's normal.

No real problem; just wanted to know what the codename was. I realize my laptop is old and not really fit for mining, but I figure I might as well anyways, considering I don't pay for my electric bill.  Cool
10  Other / Beginners & Help / GUIMiner processor question? on: January 15, 2013, 08:23:00 PM
After I fire up GUIMiner and enter my details, there is an option called "Device:". I can either select "AMD C-50 Processor" (my cpu) or something called "Loveland." When I run it on my cpu, I average 500 khashes/s. On the later, however; I get about 3-5 mhashes/s.

So what is "Loveland"? Thanks.
