1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 02, 2016, 01:48:38 PM
Hello!

Can somebody tell me- what is the LUSK???
Why it takes so big money on ICO?
Is it really better then ETH or IOTA?
I know that IOTA has newest tehnology in the world, As well as ETH!
But what is new in the LUSK???

Needs an Answer
ALso

Since i did not get any answer to my last question i ask again. What will lisk coin be used for?
quote from MalReynolds "Sidechain dapps permanently free vs. mainchain perpetual "gas" payments required"
So where will the value of a lisk coin come from if it is not used as some kind of fuel like ether in ethereum?
Can someone can clarify this or is this just a stupid pump thread?

Dapps will pay a nominal fee to register a side chain on the main Lisk blockchain.  After that small registration fee, there are no continuing sidechain payements to the Lisk Foundation.  As usual, correct me if I'm wrong, Max.

As sidechain apps charge for the services they are providing, they will ask for Lisk as their payment.   Sidechain users will have to purchase Lisk at an exchange to use those sidechain services.   This will result in upward buying pressure for Lisk as a coin.

Take for example any future Lisk sports betting dapps.  Lisk would effectively be the casino sports room tokens used among gamers to settle their wagers.  Those tokens would have to be purchased on an exchange, and could be later "cashed out" at an exchange for other currencies such as BTC and eventually USD.

Vegas, baby.

Will alternative cryptos -ie btc,ltc be used for purchase of dapps alongside Lisk. Or will Lisk be the sole dapp purchase currency.

Bitcrystals and Storj both run on Counterparty and have higher mcap than XCP.

XCP has a great potential as a betting token. The problem is just that ... it is a POTENTIAL ... no one currently uses Counterparty for betting. I'm working on javascript implementation. Once it is made, it will be trivial to do one-click betting with CounterTools.

Another use for XCP is for registering asset names. Almost 50.000 names have been created and several new ones are issued every day. Lately I've seen quite a few Japanese ones. It's cool to see CP gaining traction there. 0.5 XCP is burned for every asset, and since no new XCP is mined, the supply is actually deflating.

Of course, for the quick buck go with a speculative coin. If you want a larger share in something that MAY have real value in the future, then XCP should be considered.

Hi i noticed that you are doing javascript implementation.
Is there anyway Counterparty and LISK ( Dapp currency for Javascript & Node Dapps https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1346646.0) could compliment eachother.
Furthermore i don't think there is an issue with counterparty 2 if we could trade in counterparty tokens for counterparty 2 tokens.

Thanks,

At Lisk you can't develop smart contracts which are always being performed by all miners on the network.

So is smart contracts in the road plan. Is it possible to do with Javascript/node?

- You can only develop the dapp backend on Ethereum, on Lisk you can develop the whole package (see above) of frontend and backend.

Are you talking about the Dapp App store as being a front end? what do you mean by whole package - layman term to a non techy please.

Why are we comparing Lisk to Ethereum if there is no smart contract option anymore to comparing Lisk to Apple store with some crypto twist.

Please help me understand this further

Noob question - Does lisk allow smart contracts? or only Dapps?
