1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Open Source ZEC (ZCash) GPU Miner AMD & NVidia (up to 18.5 sol/s on RX480) on: October 30, 2016, 09:57:26 AM

I'm trying to run zcashgpuclient.exe in 64-bit Windows 10 but the command prompt instantly opens and closes. Any ideas on what I should look at? Maybe the drivers?

You have to rearrange the cofig file to look like thise :

Code:
 server = "coinsforall.io";

port = "6668";

# Your ZCASH payout address

address = "zthTb2ToG5kuAc11Ni6NxoYjoxQdEr2XvST7XEdLvmHG9k7kotEcwYCaAn1SH4zRdPoXn9kNeFm8CQok9SNtNgn8d9WcdTK";

change the platform to nvidia instead of AMD
# You can give this machine a custom name

# Computer name is used as default

# name = "worker_name";

# Platform:

#  "amd": AMD GCN cards

#  "nvidia": NVidia Maxwell cards

platform = "amd";

# GPU crash handling (properly untested feature):

# 0 - do nothing

# 1 - close miner application

# 2 - reboot system (need superuser rights)

onCrash = "0";

# - The following settings have one entry per GPU

# - If you have more than 4 just add more entries or leave it as is to use defaults

# - All entries must be separated by commas and set between double quotes

# 0 = don't use device

# 1 = use device

devices =        ["1", "1", "1", "1", "1"];

# work sizes

worksizes = ["256", "256", "256", "256", "256"];

# threads

threads = ["8192", "8192", "8192", "8192", "8192"];

# -1 means don't change

corefreq =       ["-1", "-1", "-1", "-1", "-1"];

memfreq =        ["-1", "-1", "-1", "-1", "-1"];

powertune =      ["-1", "-1", "-1", "-1", "-1"];

fanspeed =       ["-1", "-1", "-1", "-1", "-1"];

2  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: CRYPTODOUBLE.COM - 100% PROFIT IN JUST 100 HOURS - 5% REFERRAL COMMISSION on: January 13, 2015, 04:27:00 PM
Why on earth did anyone give these con artists money?

If it sounds good to be true, it probably IS too good to be true.

100% return in 100 hours means I could have given this guy $10 worth of coin, and he would be promising to pay out $163,840 in two months.

That. Just. Doesn't. Happen.

Anyone who still had strong suspicions this was a ponzi and gave money anyway should be ashamed of themselves.  You're giving the scammer incentive to continue and letting their scheme grow, attracting more victims into the process.

No one can force you to spend your money a certain way but for the love of god, don't waste it on losers like this.
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Ok, but seriously how will I pay for my $250 grocery bill with bitcoin? on: June 14, 2014, 07:17:06 AM
So really, how do brick and mortar merchants accept bitcoin payments in 1 second or less without risking double spending? Do we actually have a solution for that which doesn't require me (and merchant) to use a proprietary bitcoin app but let's me use a generic wallet app?

I wouldn't be surprised, but haven't checked, if Coinbase or somebody has a solution for this, but I'm guessing it requires both merchant and customer to be using Coinbase.

I guess if the larger bitcoin firms like Bitpay, Coinbase, etc provide guarantees to merchants that the transaction will be confirmed and they take the risk of fraud (double spending attacks) then that is certainly one solution.  They can quickly (1 second?) do a check to make sure transactions look ok (based on current blockchain) and hope that double spending attacks will be rare.

Coinbase and eGifter facilitate your ability to purchase groceries quite nicely.  Coinbase is a place that lets people easily acquire BTC, and eGifter is working to let people spend it basically anywhere, even in places where the merchants don't know about BTC.  Let's assume you have the eGifter app and a Coinbase account, and need to buy $200 worth of groceries.

1.) Shop for some food at Walmart.
2.) You can buy a walmart giftcard straight from the eGifter App using bitcoin.
3.) Egifter gives you a whopping 6% discount, which means you paid $188 for your $200 Walmart Giftcard.  (why can they do this? Because BTC doesn't charge back)

Are they for profit? If so, how are they making money?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 28, 2014, 02:08:24 AM
If someone had their masternode coins stolen it was probably due to poor security on their box.

With almost 400 masternodes I'd be shocked if someone didn't have their coins stolen.

For people's peace of mind, I still think the private keys should never need to touch the masternode. All thats needed to validate ownership of coins is a signed message. The user should be able to sign a message using Darkcoin QT on an offline computer and then transfer the signed message to the masternode using a USB drive. This signed message contains all the proof that the network needs for authorizing the masternode to receive dividends and process darksends.

That's a really good point.  Excuse my ignorance though, doesn't this run into the issue of "proving" that the 1000 DRK existed at that address at the moment in time that the node is being used?  Otherwise I could just sign a message for an address, transfer to a new address, rinse and repeat.

I dont think anyone could ever shut down a server and transfer drk to a new wallet as fast as I just did lol
That may be troll objective... His statements don't add up... But if you left your DRKs hanging int he breeze, I guess that's all it would take to spook you, or me... Which is why I don't leave my DRKs hanging in the breeze...

Im just a paranoid person.
Wonder if he had linked his bash to /dev/null or at least cleared history
He should've just closed port 22 and the other ports altogether. Also, the fact that they knew his wallet passphrase indicates inside job. It is not possible to crack a 15 string encryption password.

If someone else helped him set it up, that's the person I would be looking at.

Is it true that multiples of 1000 DRK increase the chance of masternode election for one node?

No, not true.  If you had multiples of 1000 DRK, it's far better to run multiple nodes.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 26, 2014, 01:51:25 AM
Just popping in quickly, can anyone tell me if there is a masternode payment for each block or if, for some reason, only some of the blocks give masternode payments?  It makes a huge difference in the amount we can predict on getting paid.

There's a masternode payment each block, it's always 10% and randomly selected. You can also see masternode stats (and payments) here: http://drk.poolhash.org/darksend.html

Why are CPU pool and P2P pool still mining the wrong chain?  Didn't anyone get the memo?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 25, 2014, 11:54:03 PM
What does it mean when DRK forks. I am not sure what the concept is or what is happening

To be clear, everyone knew ahead of time that a major hard fork was happening.  It's necessary to introduce a big update to the network.  It looks like some pools and masternodes didn't update their clients correctly, resulting in a few hours time where the chains split and proceeded in separate paths.

Eventually, everyone gets back on the same chain.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 25, 2014, 11:25:41 PM
My wallet (9.4.6) is showing 3 confirmations and Cryptsy shows none.

Would not be unusual for cryptsy to ignore the fork, wait for a big mess, then fix it maybe a week or so from now... They're not pro-active at all.

Did you dump your chain info and re-pull just to be sure? I think there is a newer version 9.4.8... Might be you on bad fork reading bad fork from other people on bad fork...

See post below this one for version.

Cryptsy ignored updating the client for their #1 volume alt?  That'd be pretty sub-par.  Can anyone confirm what blockheight they are up to?

If your wallet, pool, exchange, or node is NOT on this chain: http://explorer.darkcoin.io/chain/DarkCoin

you need to update or you will be using a dead coin

anyone can confirm that mining.darkcointalk.org is on the right fork?

They are not, switch pools if you are using mining.darkcointalk.org

[17:55] <+Propulsion> shit. Don't mine on my pool it's behind.

Please update ASAP!

Some bad masternodes set off a chain reaction which forked the network
into many smaller forks. To ensure you're on the correct fork please
update your daemon and run with the command "-reindex". It may take a
bit to reindex, but you'll be on the correct fork.

Guys - look here: http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/

explorer is on wrong fork, and it looks like CPU Pool, Coinotron and p2pool on wrong fork as well....

Can anyone get them on the handle?  They need to update or they'll risk using the dead side of the fork.

Hey guys, did we fork the network?  Check out the chain height difference between:

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/

http://explorer.darkcoin.io/chain/DarkCoin

They're about 15 off, and the network hashrate looks disproportionally skewed. It looks like CPU pool is mining the wrong chain

What's the solution when this happens, roll back to old version?

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/issues-with-masternode-payments-fork.858/#post-5140

everybody update to 0.9.4.8
