It had to have taken place no? Because it did show up in my electrum wallet as pending at one point.
Sadly, I do not have the address from which it was sent.
I think it may just be a mystery, unless it will eventually make its way back to the original point of withdrawal.
Thank you for your assistance.

This is the only thing it says on Blockexplorer.com for address: 1MSgyWkLYsFQqB36rbnzFrRMQAhZ8S3K7w
Summary confirmed Total Received 0 BTC Total Sent 0 BTC Final Balance 0 BTC No. Transactions
Unconfirmed Unconfirmed Txs Balance 0.2837 BTC No. Transactions 1
That is certainly the original amount that was sent to that wallet address.

Hi,
First i'd like to thank in advance for any help that will be given to me from this community.
On monday (without knowing that the networks were under attack by spammers) I had sent some coins from an online wallet to my electrum wallet.
The next morning the transaction showed as pending in my wallet, but when I got home from work, right before my eyes the pending transaction completely disappeared from my tx history. The address that I had sent the coin to is in my history, but there is no tx ID whatsoever.
I searched on blockchaininfo for my tx, but I did not show up there. It did show up on blockexplorer.com as an unconfirmed tx with the right amount sent .2837.
The wallet address is: 1MSgyWkLYsFQqB36rbnzFrRMQAhZ8S3K7w
Its only 100 bucks or so, but 100 dollars is a 100 dollars.
I restarted electrum multiple times, updated and reinstalled it. Exported private keys and uploaded them to another client an still no luck.
Its been 3 or 4 days now since they've been stuck in limbo. I was hoping they'd just head back to the wallet I sent them from, but no luck yet.
Should I worry? Is there anything I can do to retrieve the coin?
Many thanks!
