You need to understand how mining difficulty works before you invest more into mining gears. (And also that it doesn't matter if you are using PPLNS, PPS, or any other payout mechanism.)

Best share is the highest difficulty share you have found.

The block difficulty is the minimum difficulty required for solving the block.

If your best share's difficulty is higher than the block difficulty, it means that you have found at least one block. Otherwise, all of your shares were not enough to solve a block.

In terms of your income, unless your pool rewards block finders more than others (which is very rarely the case), it does not matter to you at all.

Also, yes, 10 mil. will be "closer" to solving the block than 1 mil., but you either solve a block or you don't. So "closer" doesn't mean anything.

They are hashing right now, and all of them seem to be working well.

I'm getting 0 primes per sec even though the CPU usage is near 100%. I'm running Ubuntu 12.

All I did was
1. Set rpc user and password in .conf file.
2. run "./primecoind -daemon"
3. run "./primecoind -setgenerate true 8"

Then when I run "./primecoind getmininginfo", it says my primespersec is 0 even though CPU is being used.

Can someone help me?

My Windows client is not syncing either, and I used addnodes. My other clients (BTC, LTC, FTC, FRK, WDC, BQC, etc.) all run fine.

EDIT: I addnoded every address in the first post, and it finally started to sync.

EDIT2: Now it says "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers." It looks fine otherwise, so I don't really know what the problem is.

Hi, I have been wondering around the forum for a while, even before I joined, and there are so many threads I would like to post on. I am finding it difficult to post something useful in the newbie forum. I find that I can often answer or provide some insights on questions asked on other forums.
