1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cavirtex exchange shutdown after being hacked on: February 18, 2015, 07:20:29 PM
Maybe one of the home-based workers locked in Joseph Davids basement finally ran off with the thumb drive that had the database on it.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SWIFT] BitSwift | 100% PoS w/ 4mil Total Supply (PoD + Crypto Certify) on: October 16, 2014, 01:57:58 PM
I have to admit I'm only going through the whitepapers now. Can someone from the team answer maybe regarding some of the modules?  I see the following:

Concept modules (modules considered for future integration):
a.  SwiftBusiness (business application)
b.  SwiftStorage (storage system)
c.  SwiftStream (video content delivery)
d.  SwiftSalary (monetary and revenue module for swift users)
e.  SwiftOrganize (Human Resource and Organizational module)

This looks like almost everything I'd need to do hr/payroll, disaster recovery. Depending on what the business module does this could run my entire business.

What is the cost of running this? Do users need to hold BitSWIFT coins? Does the company? Are they like the "gas" in ethereum?

Well IBM and Cisco get it but they're working with the bitcoin blockchain.
https://gigaom.com/2014/09/09/check-out-ibms-proposal-for-an-internet-of-things-architecture-using-bitcoins-block-chain-tech/

I can see the value of using that network but for me bitcoin development happens too slowly. I bought swift based on the modular and service oriented design. If they can do the geo thing right and support some intelligence / contracts it will be everything i need.

Will geoSEND make it possible to make location based payments? Like a contractor only gets paid if he's at work on time?

Will SDDNS allow you to give human-readable names to objects as well as people? I mean could I call an object my_color_printer or 1st_floor_fridge or something? There are some obviously killer crypto applications that would become very easy to implemement if this is the case. internet-of-things kind of comes to mind.

I bought into XMR for security reason. These guys can't keep my money safe from themselves. Fuck it.  Stealthcoin it is then and thank god there's still time.

Bob will any of the coins being pumped be long term hold material or pure crap coins? Meaning is it pump/dump and leave them for dead or leave the coin better off then when we found it?

I swear stock charts work like Rorschach tests. They tell you what's in the mind of viewer more than the reality of the market. Especially with ignorant/naive viewers.

Who would pass up the opportunity to buy the next amazon just because they already found the next ebay. There's going to be an entire global ecosystem living in anonymous networks. And this is only 1st gen.

Is there a group helping with testing in this coin or is it all strictly internal to the devs? Meaning, is there any value to setting up a bunch of vm's to help test here? I've gone over the OneMarket paper a few times and am seriously dying to help see this thing happen.

What should the current linux daemon/-qt versions be, please? I cloned the latest from the github this afternoon and compiled and its version is 1.9.4.1
According to this announcement thread there's a mandatory update at v1.9.6.0.

Is there somewhere else to get linux binaries?

Regarding illegality, I don't think any of us have much right to complain. Do Canadian businesses move to Panama for increased governance and regulatory control?  I figured some shady shit was happening and when they continued normal operations I figured they'd done alright.

It is honestly embarrassing to admit that I was the mark, but I'm happy to say I figured it out before too long and saved most of my money. Have since realized that any investment where "investors" are literally begging for updates is not an investment at all. I've bailed almost 99% on NEO, CBTC, CFIG, HIF, AM and later invested that in drk/xc/etc (not trying to start a holywar) and been very happily rewarded. Developers with real products, it turns out, often provide updates, because they are actually DOING SOMETHING that they can and want to tell other about.

In the 90's, if you had a porn site you couldn't take payments because no bank would touch adult sites. So some creative souls figured out that if they setup a "business" to sell "office supplies", the bank gave them their account, and people could use it to pay for porn. But every now and then someone would bid on one of the fake "items for sale", and have to be notified that it was "no longer available".

As a former havelock customer, I feel like one of the people who were bidding on the fake items. Sure you can make trades and see your rapidly decreasing balances, but whatever is going on in Panama with bitcoin currently, I cannot believe it has anything to do with the listings on Havelock.

Scriptiee, something like this works great to keep sites work safe:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/decreased-productivity/nlbpiflhmdcklcbihngeffpmoklbiooj?hl=en

And makes browsing generally faster/less irritating. Can be toggled on/off easily.

Is changing a masternode IP accepted as a valid workaround for infrequent payments? Or is it more of a troubleshooting "can't hurt to try" sort of thing?

Thanks Tok/Qwizzie, for the info. I'll start looking at these values. Also interested to see if it's possible to calculate totals more accurately via the api.

Toknormal i've put off asking this painful question for some time, but where do you see the total bids/asks? Did you mean that there are 2k asks and 17k bids on mintpal?
