defcon, check the cooling - does it have 4 screws and is it screwed down tight?  If not, the chip will overheat and cut out.

Hi Phil

Really appreciate you being here on the forum.

Re the missing screw on the cooling - I have phoned, emailed etc and I have heard nothing.  As it is out of action until I resolve this issue, do you know how I can get a front and back screw for that 4th corner to get the cooling working?  I am uk based so if it is a standard part I can get locally that would help.  I looked at the Corsair cooling options but the design of the cooling head looks totally different size.

Thanks
Jon

I think that is exactly the problem - even squeezing the 4th corner of the cooling unit together, get it working for a minute before a high temp warning, so it must be failing instantly with an overheat warning from the chip.

Now the only problem is how to get hold of the quite special screw - the screw and its backplate are missing off the 4th corner.
Anyone know how I get hold of this type of screw quickly ? Is it a standard cooler available in the uk?

All fans start up with the power up and the back fan is the right way round, blowing air in over the card
the reboot switch, the pi and the laptop all have the same impact - a boot up for a couple of seconds and then a power down, off for a few seconds and then a power cycle back up again....repeat non stop.

So I assume that rules out the pi and the usb cable/fittings as it happens with no usb attached at all when using the manual reboot/on button on the card.

cgminer sees the device but errors out, tries to hot reboot but fails.

Well the good news is my Batch 1 BJ arrived in the uk - 48 hours door to door.
Looked in good condition, no obvious wires or screw loose - although there are only 3 screws holding down the water cooling to the chip.

I have booted up with both the Rpi with a wired ethernet and also a laptop running 3.12 cgminer.

Either way, the BJ comes to life for about 2 secs, then switches off, then repeats this forever but the BJ does not get recognised by the Pi ot the laptop.
The reboot in the BJ card causes a reboot but it still switches off after a few seconds.

Has anyone got any ideas of where to look for issues?

Thanks

I am not sure if they changed this term, but several versions of the Terms including mine refer to EXWORKS - in other words, their definition of delivery is leaving their premises, then it is over to the buyer.
So all this talk about Christmas delivery and couriers to various countries is irrelevant - they can ship your unit late on the 31st and not breach their refund terms (unless that delivery definition was not in the first / early versions)
Hope I am wrong, because if I am right, we have just lost another 30% by the time they get delivered to our doors.

It is up and running perfectly. Arrived in good condition and is black Smiley so I am guessing it is actually a Batch 2 catch up for my missing Batch 1.
Customs here..... £16 Smiley

Just got a reply to support query...my Batch 1 order has been confirmed and I have a DHL ref, so hopefully will arrive in the next couple of weeks.  It got tied up due to a mismatch on funds receipts.

That's the long overdue good news.  Not so good...my Batch 2.1 order for 2 units got added to my account and then a day later is showing up as cancelled !? Sad

I don't think I upset anyone and my Batch 1 order has not arrived and I have not had a reply to any support request that I have logged.
I have ordered from Batch 2 as well and have Walletbit confirmations, but nothing else yet.
Would be nice to at least know the batch 1 order has not been lost

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who else from Avalon batch 1 hasn't received a unit or shipping information? on: April 07, 2013, 10:30:11 PM
I have not yet got my Batch 1 order.  I have left 4 support requests.  Up until recently, I knew everyone was in the same boat and waited patiently, but after the last newsletter explicitly asking us to use support and we would get a reply as the remaining batch 1 items were likely to be address issues etc., I duly left my support request and I still have heard nothing.

The details are as follows - 1 unit with order #200000789 placed on November 18, 2012

Hoping it will turn up soon to give me faith my batch 2 orders are ok

WeMineLTC.com seem to have set up shop in the last day or so.  Anyone know if they are legit? Gone from nil to 40MH/s already.

Thanks for the explanation re the coins, but isn't the donation level too steep given current prices?
