1  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Where do I get free Bitcoin? The maintained list of verified free Bitcoin Sites. on: March 19, 2014, 08:39:05 PM
Some of the operators of these various sites follow this thread.

If the Red Coins faucet operator is watching this thread, might I suggest a "Check Balance" feature for addresses?  I have some older addresses that I have used to visit faucets and would like to check their balance.  The problem is, I do not want to have to submit a request for free bitcoins, as then my OCD would compel me to visit the faucet to flush out the addresses (for a 40 satoshi hit per hour, 5430 satoshi minimum payout = 136 hours).

Or maybe even change the faucet payout system to use a micro-transaction service like CoinBox or Microwallet?

cointicket.org seems to have "dried out"

Quote from: cointicket.org
This faucet dried out. Final payout will be made soon.

Also, is BitcoinForest really discontinued?  I can still access the faucet page and their last payout was on 2013-08-15 (Transaction).

I saw a post on reddit about the deep web and Bitcoin last summer.  I found Bitcoin interesting.  I couldn't figure out how to mine with my GPU back then, but decided to give it another shot back in November (after the mining reward was halved from 50 BTC to 25 BTC) with the MtRed mining pool.

Is payout for BitCoin4YOU.net automatic?

The balance for one of my addresses is 0.0050260000 BTC and I have not received my Bitcoins yet.

I don't think so. I had to send them a message the last time I got over the minimum amount.

http://www.bitcoin4you.net/Contact.php

It wouldn't hurt to suggest to them that they should lower their minimum withdrawal amount as well...

Thanks!  I just sent them an email requesting my payment and suggesting that they add a button to claim payout.

The minimum payout was recently lowered from 0.005 BTC to 0.004 BTC, but if a user can only earn 21 uBTC per day (at 0.007 or so per page view), I guess I should have suggested an even lower payout threshold.

Edit: I have received the payment.  Here's the transaction.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Get transaction size prior to sending your BTC? on: April 29, 2013, 11:52:50 PM
I have several old addresses that I have previously used for faucets (or in the case of my first address, for mining as well).  I would like to sweep the funds from those addresses into a new address.

Is there some way to get or estimate the transaction size prior to initiating the transaction?  These addresses have lots of small deposits, so I would like to transfer them to one address whilst minimizing the fees.  I mean, I would rather donate them to, say, maybe /r/bitcoin, instead of lose most of the funds to transaction fees.

If it helps, here are the current Balances and Number of Transactions for the addresses:

0.00017593 (16)
0.00243568 (361)
0.00799525 (101)
0.00972206 (264)
9  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: BitcoinSpinner on: March 20, 2013, 07:49:03 PM
I found this app last week.  I think there might be a bug when I press the back button then launch the app again -- it sends me to a blank screen with the app's name as the title.  I hit back, and it launches normally.

If I can just figure out how to get the address from Andreas's app onto this one, I'll be very happy.

Edit:  As far as I can see, that bug I was talking about was fixed.  It looks like I can't import the private key from another address made with Bitcoin Wallet for Android to BitcoinSpinner.  Ah well.

if your willing to pay then there ebay XD

I got lucky with my purchase.  I bought a 5 BTC Casascius coin from there (the "Blank 5BTC Token with plain gold foil sticker") with 1BTC preloaded onto an address from a pretty cool guy.  He offered to load up to 5 BTC on the address, but I didn't have the money (this was a few weeks ago when Bitcoins were only about $30 USD).  I'm kicking myself a little now for not buying more.

Is it possible to drop the minimum withdraw limit of BTC to 0.01. If you guys did this I think more people would be willing to use this pool. the steep 0.10 withdraw limit is a little high for most casual miners. Just a thought.
It'd be nice to do that but my understanding is that a 0.01 limit causes quite a bit of wallet fragmentation. Once recipients of those 0.01 withdrawals try to do a spend with a number of them as inputs they'll end up paying larger fees.

I actually appreciate the higher minimum.  Back when my main pool was MtRed, I'd withdraw as soon as I reached that 0.01 BTC minimum.  Now it feels more like a reward when I withdraw, even though it takes me about 10 days to get to BitParking's minimum amount.

It seems like I was wasn't able to connect the past few times that I've tried mining with this pool, so I switched.

If I can get this old laptop to work, maybe I'll test the waters again with a third account (I keep forgetting the passwords to them).

I'm unemployed, I'm a studen't. I only own 9 BTC

Change that number from 9 to 2 and that's my answer.

Neat. I started a subreddit called beercoins, that is exactly for this purpose.

http://reddit.com/r/beercoins/

I just PMed you a suggestion on reddit.

With the links in the side bar, I would link to the sites like this (and Portnoy, you're welcome to do this too if you want, as easyco.in seems to have a referral link):

18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is up with Mt.Red mining pool ? on: March 05, 2013, 01:47:09 AM
I had problems connecting to MtRed months ago, so I switched to BitParking (from reading another redditor's comment in /r/mtred).  The site was up just last night, I believe.

I was hoping to use an extra computer to mine there, and I have been trying to reinstall Windows on an old laptop for this purpose -- I can't Linux well, and when I tried Mint and Diablo Miner, I got some message saying that OpenCL wasn't installed or something, even after following the directions from Google.

When I use this app on my phone, the app crashes, but I'm hoping it will work once I eventually upgrade to a new phone.

I tried poclbm= crash Angry
tried cgminer =crash  Angry
using bitminter client now and working well  Huh tho got a error BFI patch failed.

poclbm always gave me an error when trying to run it (I used BitMoose for a few weeks and I forget my first mining program, but both gave me some sort of error).  Switched to command line cgminer after taking the parameters from BitMoose and haven't looked back.
