when i started trading btc i lost $20K on a margin call. but then you get back together and eventually come back stronger and you learn a lot. there are many communities out there who have been around trading bitcoin.

btcusd is quite a special asset class, not tradeable like the rest. it's mostly like a penny stock, you gotta play the pump and dumps. and from time to time some good technical analysis - it DOES bloody work for all the skeptics out there, of course not all the time but it increases your probability if done right. at least for good entry and exit points. check out the whaleclub ideas feed or the reddit bitcoin trading subreddit.

I practice trade on whaleclub.co. They have pretty fcking great demo trading for BTCUSD. I think they use the bitfinex feed and you get 5BTC in demo balance and you can trade the markets like you'd usually do but without risk of loss. once you've got a refined strategy you switch over to live trading
