I sold off 1/3 of my coins today. I plan on riding out the bubble with the remainder. I reaped a large return based off my initial investment and will be going on an extended vacation as a result. No regrets and I still have skin in the game.

What is the acceptable and pronounceable way to say "mbtc" in a conversation? Is there a general consensus?
"M Bitcoin" "Milli Bitcoin" "M B T C" "One Thousandth of a Bitcoin"

This whole thread reminds me of a book I read a couple years ago called "Daemon" by Daniel Suarez. "When a designer of computer games dies, he leaves behind a program that unravels the Internet's interconnected world. It corrupts, kills, and runs independent of human control. It's up to Detective Peter Sebeck to wrest the world from the malevolent virtual enemy before its ultimate purpose is realized: to destroy civilization." http://amzn.to/132XgGv (affiliate link)

Not to be too pessimistic. But there is an alternative scenario that is likely to happen eventually. Satoshi may quite literally be dead.
In the long run, we all are. My family will be able to get to my fiat accounts but will have a hard time even comprehending my Bitcoin investments/stash/mining-equipment/etc. Something to consider.

My view is that Bitcoin serves a particular purpose very well: A means to exchange value across the internet for goods/services which was made precisely for the internet.
Fiat currency serves it's purpose extremely well: It enables governments to offer it's citizen's the ability to exchange value for goods/services in a tightly controlled manor (which isn't a bad or good thing in my opinion).
I like having options.

The average user doesn't care about anonymity that much. I think it is fine to have variety in the marketplace, and it is good to have coinbase in bitcoin.

Wouldn't arbitrage require a rebalancing of the funds at some point.
If I were to simultaneously purchase BTC on one market and then USD on the other for a profit overall, then I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the situation again until the markets fluctuate to the point where the exact opposite position provides a favorable outcome.
I apologize for my lack of understanding. I'm truly trying to wrap my head around what happens after the initial simultaneous sales have completed.
It depends on the nature of the markets. If market A is ALWAYS higher price than market B, then yes, you will have to transfer currency between the two markets. If the price difference is fleeting and varies over time with sometimes A and sometimes B being higher, then you could just leave your money where it is and arbitrage the opposite direction when the price balance switches. I have been thinking that as the Ripple system grows, it will allow people to move various currencies from one exchange to another, making arbitrage easier. Right now it is easy to move btc from one exchange to another, but harder (higher fees and wait times) to move USD between exchanges. Thanks. That makes sense to me. I appreciate it.

So far I'm very happy with Coinbase and Blockchain.

For the time being I've decided to use both blockchain.info and coinbase.com. Mainly due to the ease of use of coinbase. And blockchain because of the several recommendations already listed above. Thanks everyone.
