1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1 Free LTC For You on: March 21, 2013, 04:53:51 AM
I hope it's not too late for this.  I've been mining LTC on my CPU and getting nowhere, hah, but I still want to play around with it.

Yeah, I requested once already but didn't get whitelisted for some reason.  I've spent much more than 4 hours here but it still says I've only spent 3?  If I could get whitelisted to I can go the litecoin pages where I belong, I'd really appreciate it!

Yeah I'm not sure what's up with some of the actual hate in this thread, I think if anything litecoin helps BTC.  For one, it'd be good to have a diverse investment, and litecoin does offer SOME (not a ton, but a few) advantages.  While it will of course suffer from that "second place" syndrome for some time, I think the increased attention it's getting is pretty cool, and worthwhile.

Yeah I'd say pretty luckily it seems that the price of one coin is tied to the amount people are investing into mining them.  Thus more asics means a harder hash pool but also a high price.  You might want to check out litecoins as a potential alternative, since some people are switching into mining them with GPU's as they remain profitable (also, they have the potential to start catching up with bitcoins)

The short of it is that it's a cryptocurrency just like bitcoin, with a slightly different mining system to allow for faster verification.  ASIC miners also apparently can't mine them either, so litecoin adopters are hoping to see more people mining them once ASICs dominate the bitcoin mining market.  You can check out more over at the alternative currencies page, or check out reddit.com/r/litecoin for more.  I was wondering if anyone else was mining them/interested in them.

So, anyone else getting started with litecoins?

I would also love to be considered for whitelisting. (Although if anything this could count towards my post count, right?)  Anyway, I've been trading back and forth on Mt. Gox for a while now and have used MPEx.  Not sure what else there is to say other than that?

Hi! My name's stephen I'm interested in BTC gambling and "beating the system" hahah obviously.  BTC blackjack and stuff like that interest me, as well as some of the dice games out there. Glad to be a part of the forums!
