1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 RED LIGHT wont hash on: May 25, 2016, 10:43:07 PM
I had a similar issue:

First i thought it was my internet connection.  I'm set up outside in a large shed we uses as a work room.  I used two Apple Airport Extreme's to make a bridge out there.  Apparently our power glitches and it didn't reboot correctly, so there was no internet connection.  Second I found that the server address for my pool was incorrect, one letter off.  2 hours of troubleshooting for a blinking amber light on the router and a fat fingered extra letter.

Check the small stuff first, then check it again.

well, i have my coins ready to go just in case.  Gemini just opened my new exchange account today and i've got a few new paper wallets handy.

I seriously think this is nothing but it is always better to be safe than sorry.  Looking at something that is not backed by some kind of major insurance like FDIC or SIPC, I can see how this can freak people out.  First off having mass amounts of money in bitcoin is prob not a good idea to begin with.  Its way to volatile.  Diversification is the best bet.  Cash, stocks, bonds, bitcoin, gold, and so on.

Remember the old saying "Pigs get fat... Hogs get slaughtered"

No I didn't.

I'll look at it when I get home tonight.

Can you help me understand how a small pool like BCMonster is able to compete?   It just feels like a David v. Golliath when it comes to the Bigger pools.

So in the grand scheme of things I am new to this.  I just wonder why it seems like slush pool will have long lags with no blocks.  I was wondering if the merged mining with namecoin may be a cause maybe by using up processing capability that could be focused on finding the next block.

ok, so i finally got my S7 PSU in and pointed it and my S4 at the pool. however both read they are hashing at 1.9 and 4.6 respectively, while on the website the home screen is only showing 2.96 and the dashboard is showing 4.27.??  what is going on?  I cleared my cache thinking that might be an issue.

**** also just noticed that my workers just vanished.  Although everything is running correctly on my end, or so it appears.

I picked up a used S4 last week and its been working great except for 2 of the 4 fans being out.  Biggie i'm sure.  I ordered replacements and they will be here thursday.  Today was the first time it decided to shut off on me.  I looked on my pool site and saw it was offline and then went to the ip address and saw it was offline as well.  I checked on the unit and pressed the power button and it came back on fine, booted up, and is mining away.  I don't know what could be wrong, prob heat though.  I've been keeping a room air conditioner on it since i found out about the two fans (one in the back and one in the front (opposite side) not working).  I'm not out a bunch of money on this if its not recoverable, just curious if anyone has an idea.

Well, i'm getting started in all this.  Have an S4 on slush pool and realizing its just not the place for me.  The bells and whistles are great i feel like i'm just a cog in his machine.  I like the atmosphere i've been seeing on the thread.  It seems more like a team.

I'll be adding a S7 sometime at the end of the week and can't wait to see what it can do.

:-)
Welcome aboard and glad to have you!

Thanks!  Smiley
