1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No founder's reward - 0.8.7.4 on: December 19, 2016, 05:33:21 PM
Hi guys. I've just shut down the faucet. Wish I could keep it running but I can't really spare enough for the hosting.

The balance of the faucet was sent back to the addresses that donated proportionally with the amounts they donated. People that contributed should see those transactions soon. This is not quite the correct split because people donated at different times so I'm sorry about that, not sure offhand how to weight it correctly. But it's approximate.

Hi guys. My free hosting is expiring in about a week & I'll have to shut down the faucet for now. I'll be sending back to the addresses that donated to the faucet proportionally with the amount they donated. Please everyone use it while it's still up, it will stay running for the next few days.

ZOIN, please can you release a roadmap! there has to be a certain stability and prospect. Great such a new coin but the way it is launched is terrible.

Sorry, but there will be no roadmap from my side. No broken promises, no hype, no pumping release dates, no founder's reward, no big investors.

Since this is a community coin, you are free to do these things. If you don't like the web site, help build a new one, if you don't like the PR, help organise some.

Have to say I prefer this approach and find kamikaza's pushiness offputting. Instead of demanding the developer "do something anything" why don't you sit down and do something? The coin is running and available right now. If you want to use it then start using it.

If there's some specific feature you want it might be more productive to ask for that. The community could discuss it and if there's enough interest the developer might add it -OR- you or someone else could sit down and add it.

Dear person trying to drain my faucet with a bot. Please try again so I can test the new security Smiley

is there a mac version of the pool mining miner?

Should be able to build it from source. The build instructions mention Mac OS X:

Coincontrol does it(change). Just change address to custom.
Only the amount of 1 coin is a big lag with gui.
So you say with rcp commands you can use other values than 1 coin to mint zero?

Is it there in zoin? Looked for it but didn't see it anywhere

Haven't tried the rpc but it looks like the calls are:
mintzerocoin - mintzerocoin <amount>(1,10,25,50,100)
spendzerocoin - spendzerocoin <amount>(1,10,25,50,100)

From the code here:
https://github.com/zoin/zoin/blob/master/src/rpcwallet.cpp#L1624

Think the limited possible amounts are for privacy. Otherwise it's easy to tell just by amounts which spend is linked to which mint.

I tested above, sent one anonymous coin to kamikaza.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1671060.msg16869434#msg16869434

Feeling the pain creating only 1 zerocoin at time.
Is there any solution for this?

Didn't see a way in the GUI but it could be done through the RPC. Think you also have to use RPC right now for anonymous send, otherwise it can come from any of your addresses. You have to restrict it carefully to only the address you received back to after redeeming zerocoin. Other addresses are linked to your previous receives so not anonymous. I did it manually on command line in my test.

Probably these things will be added to GUI over time

Can someone explain to me what is the "Zerocoin" menu in the client for? Can we mint zerocoin, is it another coin?

It's a financial privacy feature. Core feature of the zerocoin protocol zoin is based on. Someone described it here:

It will mint a new single coin that comes from nowhere. It's a 0. Transaction coin
It has a transaction fee of .001 and you have to have one to mint it...
It is how you make untraceable transactions

The idea is you can mint a zerocoin which costs some amount of the normal currency (here zoin). The later you spend that zerocoin and receive some normal currency back, to a brand new different address that has never been used before. The mint operation and the spend operation are supposed to be unlinkable. Meaning you end up with new currency that has no history. It's completely anonymous and not connected to any of your previous transactions. Normally all your spends are connected to previous receives and anyone can follow the whole chain.

If it works as advertised you can use it to keep your block chain transactions anonymous.

Hi,

I would gladly receive some free zoin coin. my adress is ZVQboJd5y3FUUYr3wEvA5PUz1zeRTV5itJ

Thanks,

Kamikaza

I sent you 0.9999 anonymous ZOI to test. Here is the transaction:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zoi/tx.dws?0920b5f1de6bc413da5c86f47d15729964c3bc65c83f82a486f2be62cb344d10.htm

If you trace it back to the previous one you find a transaction with a zerocoin source, no connection to any other ZOI. Brand new ZOI from nowhere:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zoi/tx.dws?238a508eb79e3f2fbb3841bc057787905fd5c7ec1b8bc60b95458f857ae79cb2.htm

If I didn't mention it here it would be unknown who that ZOI came from. Very cool feature.

Assumes of course that zerocoin mint and zerocoin spend really are unlinkable. Not sure how they work.

Does anyone know how this relates to quantum computing? At some point quantum computers will break much cryptography. Will zerocoin transactions remain unlinkable then or will they be breakable by quantum computers?

Seems like a competent developer to me. Coin has gone well so far. Even an impromptu hard fork to better the coin done quickly & effectively. (Except half the network didn't upgrade yet, get on it guys  Smiley)
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 01:25:32 PM
I tried the zerocoin feature.

1) Minted 1 zerocoin for 1.0001 ZOI. In this transaction. Second output is 0 ZOI but in raw transaction I see 1 "mint zerocoin" operation.
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zoi/tx.dws?a70ad9d2c9bd14b395a8c1108ea521c81797b59168f2a8249145600e9948225d.htm

2) Spent that zerocoin for 1 ZOI. In this transaction. Has no input so I believe (?) it's completely disconnected from the previous mint operation:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zoi/tx.dws?238a508eb79e3f2fbb3841bc057787905fd5c7ec1b8bc60b95458f857ae79cb2.htm

3) I got ZOI to this address, never before used, brand new ZOI with no history:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zoi/address.dws?ZJEfQAQcEDQBZa96CkGzWVzFi8c4M5968i.htm

Very cool. Are steps 1 2 really completely disconnected? Or is there some way to link them if you look deep enough?

@matejbilahora give me a zoin address? I will send you one 1 anonymous ZOI to test.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 12:39:09 PM
ZOIN made announcement about it, that is true.
We need to start thinking how to save ZOIN. I know you cant stop dumpers, but another thing is that cooperation in community can do a lot. I am trying to create simple but informative website and made someting like giveaway of some coins to users, already 9 users got coins. HoteiLife made faucet which I am also supporting.

Maybe someone can submit for adding to yobit? Does anyone know what it takes? Lots of trading there.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 12:34:40 PM
He is explaining this because he was caught, but there was no mention this on the announcement,if he is transparent and honest,he will have told us in the first place.

Honesty is still the best policy.

He definitely did say this when the change was released, that it will become effective after block 5000. It couldn't really happen immediately because the network had to upgrade. Now we're at block 4039 and still 41% of network is on old version:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zoi/#!network

Will this split the network in 2 after block 5000? Everyone should upgrade I think to keep the network together. Or we'll end up with 2 block chains. Get on it friends.

300 ZOI sent to faucet

Nice! Lots of ZOI in the faucet now
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 11:32:38 AM
there are bots currently trying to drain the faucet? You have a captcha placed why trying to whitelist the address, crypto currency is about anonimity and how about those who wants to get zoin but not a member of this forum..

I know, it's a pain and limits use of the faucet. I'm working on finding a better solution. The captcha should be blocking the bot but somehow it gets through. Not sure how it's happening. There are some captcha settings I'm planning to look at, I have it at lowest but maybe it's too weak and there are ways to get around it.

Until I figure it out the only options are whitelist for limited use or shut it down for no use. Better to have some use available.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 10:44:08 AM
Have been using my wallet since day one,but was asked to whitelist my wallet.should I post my wallet here or pm the operator to whitelist, think it's not worth it anymore since the faucet can only give 0.25 might as well place in the buy order.

Either way works, if you want to keep your address anonymous you can PM it. I won't share with anyone. Either way I'll get it whitelisted & you can use again :-)
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 04:30:07 AM
So is this coin alive? I haven't tried in a few days but my wallet wasn't sinking.

It's still running, my wallet is synced and has 7 connections
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 13, 2016, 04:25:06 AM
I added a whitelist to the faucet. Kind of a pain but at least it will let legitimate users make draws. I whitelisted every address that drew before the script started. If I missed anyone / anyone new wants whitelisting please just ask here with your ZOI address, I will add you.

Still going to try to find a better solution when I can.

That is not good, have sent some coins for others to be able to get some and now some scammer has all coins from faucet. Any chance to make it harder for these bots?

Think I shut down it down pretty quickly so they only got a few zoin. Still over 300 ZOI in the faucet :-)
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No more founder's reward on: November 12, 2016, 12:06:20 PM
Have to turn the faucet off again though, draw script is running again Sad I'll have to figure out a way to counter it. Maybe my recaptcha setup is broken. It shouldn't be letting automated requests through like that. Probably will have to look at it tomorrow. Sorry for the downtime guys.
