1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2.5+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: June 25, 2018, 09:37:30 PM
Looking for some help / recommendations.  I am running one 13.5 Th/s rated Antminer S9i on Slush Pool, Hardware version 22.0.1.3, firmware version Tue May 22 20:08:17 CST 2018.

My hardware hash rate is not matching my scoring hashrate on slushpool.  I understand that this will not match exactly because it depends on which are actually accepted by the pool... but my slush pool scoring hash rate seems to be all over the place.  Most often 1 - 1.5 Th/s lower than my hardware is showing... sometimes close to normal at 13 Th/s,   and even sometimes (rarely) showing hash score higher than my hardware 14+ Th/s.   It seems to swing up and down all the time, while my S9i stays right around 13.5 - 13.6 Th/s.

Attached is a snapshot of what hardware / slush pool is showing / chart history showing that its up and down all over the place.  Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to get a more consistent scoring hashrate on slushpool of near 13.5 Th/s ?

hardware screen, it shows 13k GH/S(avg) , but I am thinking that me be affected by the miner being down for some hours during this time.  The hashrates from hardware to slushpool not matching are during a set period of time that I watching both closely, so Slushpool had time to adjust to the hardware hashrate.  Thanks in advance for the help guys!  Grin BTC

2  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-09-26] Bitcoin Trading Premium in Zimbabwe at $7,200 on: September 26, 2017, 05:09:25 PM
This huge price gap is interesting.  Assuming it remains for a bit, it seems like if you knew someone you could trust in Zimbabwe, you could send them BTC (purchased US exchange prices) which they could then sell on the Zimbabwe exchange sites for the much higher amount. Repeat this multiple times or larger sums to gain the profit.

It appears to be on the Zimbabwe BTC exchanges, you would need a Zimbabwe bank account or other barriers which would require an actual Zimbabwe citizen.

So besides all the hassle, multiple fees, wire transfer fees etc.  If they price gap is big enough, it may be worth it.  Am I missing something here?
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 Noise Level on: December 28, 2016, 03:25:15 PM
Thanks Phil.  Sounds like a few R4 may be they way to go to be safe on the noise side of things.  They seem pretty efficient still also, hash rate to electric use wise.
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S9 Noise Level on: December 28, 2016, 02:42:47 PM
I am currently running two Antminer S5 units in an area taking advantage of the heat they give off. I am thinking about getting the S9 to actually be more efficient while getting some heat from it too, my only concern is the noise level of the new unit vs. that of two of the S5. Could anyone that has owned both S5 & S9 let me know how the noise level of (1) S9 unit would compare to (2) S5 units?  I obviously know the S9 has a lot more power & and is louder overall, but is it still louder that two of the S5 going at once next to each other?

Any recommendation on another route to go would be helpful also.  I know the Antminer R4 are quite, but do they give out decent heat as well?

They were the ones withholding on Slush.

They obviously were testing their mining proxy/system live mining on Slush and it was fuxored, withholding blocks.
Testing code on a live pool means you are asking every other miner on the pool to risk losing BTC with your testing, rather than risk it all yourself.
Scum bags.

They should have solo mined to test their code until they found some blocks and thus knew it could at least do that.
I'd not go near them.

Though ... I guess I should try find out where they mine from and block them ... ... ...

Were they withholding just lately?  This could explain Slush's luck numbers lately... I understand variance and high/low cycles being normal.. but these numbers have just been terrible:

That being said, I just switched over some more hash to Kano today.

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin have lost more than $100 in a day... on: June 21, 2016, 02:42:45 PM
Now is the best time to buy. If only I had some money to buy with.

I agree, for whatever reason it dropped, now is a good price to buy at.  I think we will see it go back up to at least mid 700s or higher in a reasonable amount of time.  Just some nervous selling going on currently.

Prices are $650; the exchange is now ok.

Complete scam.

Very well could have been. But either way, now is the time to buy at these prices... it will probably bounce back up from this.

Anything special planned for the 1K block found on Kano.is pool?

Meanwhile a 1.6% diff drop from 199312067531.24 down to 196061423939.65

Interesting. Maybe enough people turning off their S7 miners to try to sell them and haven't received the S9 miners yet to replace them? just a thought.

14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 01, 2016, 06:18:43 PM
Very nice machine... more hash power than I was expecting from the S9, although like many have said the price right now is just too over priced, even for the good specs.  I think it will need to be more around $1000 before I buy some.
15  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: AntMiner S9 rampant speculation thread, have to be quick though on: May 30, 2016, 05:58:21 AM
All these new S7 Batchs for sale... makes me wonder if they are just trying to sell off their used S7 machines that they were mining with as they replace their own farms with the the new S9 miners.  "refurb" the used S7, clean them up, maybe make a few slight cost effective modifications here and there .. and sell it as a "new batch" just to get rid of the S7 they were mining with?

I mean, what has really changed in these last two batches? went back two fans? anything else?

As i know all coupons are expired. is this correct?

If not, can somebody check if it is usable for this miner?
All coupons ARE expired.

Funny thing is, people still trying to sell them on eBay, even listing the exp date... so if anyone is starting a expired coupon collection  Tonguehttp://www.ebay.com/itm/100-OFF-ANTMINER-S7-Bitmain-Coupon-Expires-5-11-16-/322054298549?hash=item4afbee9bb5:g:3aYAAOSwQjNW-IMY
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: May 27, 2016, 06:40:19 PM
After running the calculations am I correct that holding all things constant (same elec. rate, shipping from Bitmain, difficulty,) the ROI seems to be about the same this S7-LN vs. S7  (within about 10 days or so form the calculator).  I am not even questioning if ROI is even achievable with everything else going on.. halving..next gen equipment etc. Just doing a direct a comparison between these two models.

my calculation allotted for buying a S7 PSU for about $150, and being able to use a $100 coupon on the newest Batch s7 (which I assume cant be used for the S7-LN?).

This would make total shipped cost of Each:

  • S7-LN = $276
  • S7 Batch 17 + PSU = $550

My point is, unless you just need a smaller / quieter machine... ROI wise & comparison wise the S7-LN does not seem drastically different that the S7.  Does this seem correct?

Did anybody else notice the 10+ Ph/s jump in the pool hash rate?

Yeah, its over 70 now... but its not helping lol 7.5 hours without a block  Undecided

Block solvers do not get an extra reward.

Kind of off topic, but I think it would be interesting if a pool did provide a small reward to the actual person that find the block.  Nothing big, just something to make it interesting and even more of an intensive to have a high overall hash rate to be the finder.  Possibly a slightly larger portion of the 25 btc than they would have received.. or half the transaction fee amount gained.  The pool would need to of course be transparent as to who the user name or some ID of the finder and the extra reward they received.  Surprised no pool as implemented something like this yet.

^^^second from the last post has what I would assume is confirmation of the S9 being released very soon.

Good spot, thanks for posting this.  So the only question will be now... invest in the S9 or will BW release something better (14nm) shortly after that will be even better than the S9?

Thoughts / speculation?
