1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / My thoughts on the Corion ICO on: July 19, 2017, 02:15:12 PM
Hey Guys,

I looked into Corion last week and wrote an article about my opinions and why I'm not taking a spot in this ICO.

Here is the article: https://github.com/nilcons/corion-opinion

Do you guys share my concern or do you think this is a good idea for flipping or for hodling.

Cheers!

Looks like only 1 whale wants to sell BTC for fiat.  Any way we could find out what currency that trade was executed in?  What are your thoughts personally?

The big SELL was also on the BTC/USD pair.

Very interesting, thanks for the analysis klao. I guess we don't know whether these whales were buying in order to sell on other exchanges (where fiat withdrawals are going through), or buying in order to buy, do we?

No, we most certainly don't.  But if I were to buy bitcoins for 2 million USD just to invest, I probably wouldn't deposit to the exchange where the price is the highest...

On the other hand, if I were to know for sure (or >60%) that my exchange will collapse, I'd most certainly buy bitcoins even if my USD at that exchange is currently priced cheaper than other USD liabilities.

Yes, currently it's impossible to withdraw bitcoins from MtGox as OnkelPaul says.

And unfortunately, MtGox is not very open about this issue.  For example if you ask for a monthly/daily limit change for USD withdrawal, they will just approve you without saying that BTW all of the withdrawals are currently impossible.

So everybody is just guessing around if they are insolvent or this is just a temporary hickup.  Since they already survived a lot of previous issues, this might be temporary.  But there are good chances that it's not, so be careful!

Probably not.  Please look around on the forum and use Google.  This is hot topic currently, USD withdrawals are not happening for sure, and other withdrawals are having problem too.  Someone confirmed that JPY domestic still works, but it's not easy to get a domestic Japan bank account for people not in Japan.

This is why there is such a big gap between Bitstamp and MtGox prices currently.

I use Electrum.

Electrum is a very good, newbie friendly client.  It doesn't require to download the whole blockchain to your computer, because it talks to dedicated Electrum servers, not to the P2P network.  On the other hand, the private keys that are needed to handle your transactions never leave your computer, so the servers can't steal your money.  It also has some useful command line functionality for quick queries or for writing scripts.

Price on MtGox is rising, because long time big USD depositors started to buy bitcoins to send it out of MtGox.  It's currrently not easy/possible to withdraw USD from MtGox, so you should maybe reconsider buying USD for BTC there.

Thanks all for the warm welcome, Looking forward to learning alot from all the knowledge available here.

I've been mining for about a month and a half at this point, it's very interesting. I knew about bitcoin over a year ago and didn't do anything with it. Wish I had started back then the difficulty is terrible at these levels.

Welcome to Bitcoin.

Here is a site to help you calculate your profitability with your current hardware and difficulty:

Note that in some countries power is more expensive nowadays than what you get from mining, so you may have to consider that.
