1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC on BTC-E! Collecting supporters! on: March 15, 2013, 02:39:26 PM
I fully support TRC on BTC-E.  Thanks to 420 I currently am on Vircurex and while I like it BTC-E's fees for trading are lower.  Good Luck!

Why thanks to 420?

Problem with TOR is when your dealing with 300+ Btc you have to worry about snooping exit nodes sniffing your passwords. Too risky for me when dealing with over 15K worth of Btc

How could they sniff https?

It's possible for sessions to be hijacked

This server seriously needs something to be done, I withdrew all my coins from the site due to this constant "downtime"

Site's running incredibly slow when I can access it, and when I am able to it is only for a short time!

Price is really fluctuating today, currently at .64

Speculations or ideas anyone? Buy volume has dropped significantly.

420, I can tell by your pots you have a lot of time invested in Ltc. And that you pray it will be rising to the stars and back.

The simple fact is currently all that is funding this PUSH in Litecoins is the flock of miners rushing to Ltc as they are unable to continue to mine Btc efficiently. As well as several people with large amounts of Btc looking to diversify there assets believing that Ltc is going Bullish. (which it most certainly is) This "rise" is unnatural, and not sparked by demand but simply by speculation with no real market liquidity.

Currently the price is holding at the .70 mark, with several large and rapid drops into the .45-.55 range. Ltc is immensely unsteady and the current vigorous fluctuations show this. There is confidence in Ltc to support the current price. Unfortunately it will not last. I don't even give it till the end of the month before dropping down rapidly to .15-.25

Please feel free to quote me on this at the months end.

LOL, this this wiki is managed by rabid btc fanatics. What did you expect? Honest and well written description of their biggest competition (for now)? Smiley
Screw that wiki. Its content is not what OP asked nor postulated.

LTC massive jump, while there is no new and useful services added, sure looks like a bubble. Same with BTC.
Comparing this to BTC first real bubble is probably a overstatement, unless you are not talking about the 2011 May-July happening.
If you compare it to 2011 Jan - Feb rally, you are probably correct. In this case, the really rally has not even started yet.

LTC and PPC must do everything to make fiat pairs more popular and become less dependent of LTC:BTC pair.
Why? Because this means there is more fresh fiat poring in directly to LTC and PPC "economy" and bypassing BTC.

I honestly hope that people stop talking about PPC and LTC as "new shiny internet currency" and market it as a fast, cheap and secure way to transfer fiat. Yes, it needs much better infrastructure (fiat -> LTC -> fiat) system we have right now.
If you have ever been on the merchants end of CC system (VISA, MC, etc), you know how slow and absurdly expensive those actually are. You also know what a nightmare foreign currencies are unless you live and do business in a country where inflation is high, more stable currencies are welcome at most shops.

Is it a bubble? I think this is just a prelude to a real bubble. But yes, at the moment we can call a bubble because it's driven by greed  and not by the real demand.

If you have been watching. LTC/USD on btc-e.com has had at least 3 consecutive days of over $150,000 volume in 24 hours.

Yes but it is driven not by demand of a product or service, but as an "investment" with no real liquidity
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When LTC payment processor hits public... on: March 13, 2013, 07:54:38 AM
You guys have to look outside of the box, I have a lot of hope in Litecoin so don't think of me as attacking it.

That is fantastic if Litecoins get a new payment processor, hell even another exchange. But what you guys aren't doing is paying attention to the lack of even a simple Litecoin economy.

Currently all that is funding this PUSH in Litecoins is the flock of miners rushing to Ltc as they are unable to continue to mine Btc efficiently. As well as several people with large amounts of Btc looking to diversify there assets believing that Ltc is going Bullish. (which it most certainly is)

Once a payment processor is in place how long until anyone decides to adopt it for use? The majority of people who use Bitcoins know NOTHING about alternate crypto-currencies. Bitcoin in itself is JUST getting the slightest bit of attention and finally has developed a somewhat "stable" (and I say that lightly) economy where it bounces back at a rapid rate after any loss of market confidence.

Litecoin is going bullish and anyone can quote me on this next month. I don't want to see people buying it up when it hits one dollar just to have there savings shattered.

I actually just made a very similar topic, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=152582.0

But since you guys can't post over there yet I'll say what I said before. Personally I think this is a bubble, the price increase is too dramatic for natural growth. It's caused by speculation and and everyone hoping it will be there next Btc investment. The first sign of trouble will cause a calamity of uncertainty and crash the same way Bitcoin experienced it's first bubble.  There is not enough liquidity or Ltc economy (if any) currently to support the large price rise. Regardless of what is in the works it is rising at too fast of a rate to support its growth. Ltc will not hit $3 before its crash.

yeah I feel it will pop too, price raise too fast in a short time with no reason.

Well there is reason, it is the increased speculation and the HUGE influx of miners leaving Btc and going to Ltc as it currently offers higher rewards at it was a much more untapped market.

Regarding security I've read that as well but only time will tell, I hope it can make it as a secondary to Btc but who knows what will happen. After investing with Btc for so long I'm no longer surprised at how quickly things can turn in a single hour.

What does everyone think? Value has jumped dramatically over the past week and am curious on everyone's opinions.

Personally I think this is a bubble, the price increase is too dramatic for natural growth. It's caused by speculation and and everyone hoping it will be there next Btc investment. Now please share your opinions and remember this is all my opinion, not a Ltc hater in fact I plan on buying 10k worth when it does pop.

I was going to buy 10K worth of Litecoin when it was 25 cents, looks like I missed the boat not hopping on now in case it decides to pop.

I think with the craziness of the market lately and the amount of Btc I've lost at my attempts at day trading, I'm going to have to pick up drinking...

May not have the minimum posts but I do not feel the desire to spam this section with needless posts.

Been investing small portion of my earnings in Btc since 2011, have come on here now that I have accumulated a fair amount of coins in hopes for information.

I am planning on setting up a Canadian "exchange" similar to Canadian Bitcoins but with fair buy/sell prices. Also hoping to incorporate other methods of payment with time.

Reason I finally decided to sign up to this site after years of lurking is I'm in need of information regarding any current scripts for posting up to date exchange rates on the site, as well as any pointers in regards to how to set up transactions via the site. So I do not have to organize each order manually and order information/details can be sent to the purchaser/seller without me having to do it all manually via the site.

Hopefully this is enough, look forward to posting on here!

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Old backups of wallet on: March 11, 2013, 06:27:36 AM
I believe that's correct, once you apply a new pass-phrase the current condition of the wallet will only be accessible with the current pass-phrase. Not sure if it will invalidate old versions of the wallet though.

Hopefully someone can chime in on that
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: We've got some big asks until 50 on: March 11, 2013, 06:25:45 AM
I'm hoping we breach 50 but am still worried that we will experience another dip before we hit the 50 mark. For some reason it seems people like round numbers, and 50 especially. As soon as the price creeps up towards 50 such a large amount of sell orders come in driving the price slightly down and extending the wait until we reach that glorious plateau.
