1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the view of an average citizen About crypto currencies on: January 12, 2024, 01:26:03 AM
Most people who currently knew Bitcoin were the ones stumbled it somewhere because it's getting pump up that's why there's a lot of hype everywhere and that includes scammers creating ads on their fake website. So anyway, I think some people in my area knew already about the Bitcoin but doesn't really care much while the rest are excited about their investment to grow. There are also some who was misinformed or didn't know the whole truth about how Bitcoin works because they were scammed one time in the past but didn't bother to do some research that's why they believe that it's still part of the scam tactics whenever they hear about Bitcoin.

I see your point but what you did was like repeating what the newbies did.

If you put your shoe on most of the newbies they tend to casually ask anything what they wanna know without knowing what are the forum rules.

And your thread will be most likely go under with the new thread/replies.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending on Harlots/Hook Up Girls Instead of Investing in Bitcoin. on: August 03, 2023, 08:10:12 PM
Have you ever considered they might actually have invested in Bitcoin and since they do have a lot of money they just want to do what they wanna do since it's their money? Perhaps, most people don't know how to or afraid to invest in cryptocurrency since there's a great risk on it if they don't know how to deal with it.

I hope that was just your two cents but it seems like you are always judging people the way on how they live their lives. There's nothing wrong with picking up girls every week if it makes them happy. You should try it too if you think the world only revolves around in your country.

Accepts differences, cultures, norms and practices since they didn't choose to be born in that country.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I avoid and identify scams? on: July 15, 2023, 04:47:13 PM
Perhaps, one should stop investing to every advertised coins you see on every social media platform since it's a never-ending cycle of producing new coins every now and then. Just focus on a reliable coin(s) such as BTC or ETH. It takes some experience to play well in this market since it's all a matter of winning and losing.

Through experience you will know who are those person you should trust. But crypto currency are most likely a gamble thus risking your investment whether they win or fail in this market. Since there are lots of factors that a coin may win for now but would gone after a couple of week so it's all a matter of risking or gamble.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is ready for $40k on: June 27, 2023, 06:22:22 PM
The price of Bitcoin has dropped a lot in the past few weeks. As the market went down, the market became almost bearish. However, the way Bitcoin price has been rising for the past few days, it can be said that the market can reach $40k dollars. At the moment the Bitcoin market is close to $31k so it is understood that the market will rise again in a few days. Right now the market is greening which is really a joy because the market is witnessing a bull market. So Bitcoin should be invested right now and held for the long term, there is definitely some hope in the future.
The market has not been bearish for more than half a year. True, it cannot be called a real bull market, but the price is now twice what it was in January, so it is now an uptrend. The recent fall can be called a correction of the uptrend. The last resistance at 30k was broken. Now there is hope that 40k will happen. The big foundations are with us again and should help.
It would be helpful if it stays in $40k for too long but I doubt about that because I think there  are traders out there waiting for that exact moment to gain a profit unless if it's a bull run there's a chance that the price would break past $40k but that's not the case. For now, staying at $30k is just fine whether people want to sell or want to hodl to see if there's more to push with this price but I think it's done testing so perhaps it would go further to what the others want to happen.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will World Economic Depression Affect Bitcoin? on: June 20, 2023, 11:45:51 PM
So if ECONOMIC DEPRESSION happened again in the world, will it affect bitcoin with it fellow digital currencies? Because economy is the back bone of everything in the world. What affect economy affect all other things. And bitcoin is the father of digital currency.
What is your say.

This topic is kinda vast and complex to explain to you though but the internet are free of information if you want to know everything. On the other hand, if you want to know if Bitcoin could be affected by the great depression then IMO it depends if there's a crisis all over the world but if it's just a selected areas of the country then Bitcoin will still be fine. Although during bearish times it's not actually reliable if you just want to hodl your asset but if you use it as a means of payment/currency it does help since it was not bound to anyone that would affect their prices. The only worst part I see is if during the bear trend and great depression occur at the same time in your own country. I don't know if Venezuela is the best example to your question but IMO in kinda does.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: June 19, 2023, 07:54:14 AM
Many people find it difficult to accept who they are and the bad habits that they have, accepting a habit is the first step that will determine if any help offered to you will work. As a gambler, will you find it offensive if you are referred to as a gambling addict? will you easily accept it or try to give excuses like some other people do, saying that they are not addicted to gambling when the signs are clearly there. Do you think identifying as an addicted gambler will make people stereotype you. The answer is different for every gambler here.
Not really, but people should stop stereotyping if they don't don't know someone or they just saw them once or twice since it does create a chaos everytime they judge someone on what they just saw in the first place. You never know what kind of people you are dealing with it's either you will get in trouble or be humbled by someone. So if you have nothing good to say, just keep it to yourself and let the people enjoy what they want. Perhaps if this person is their close friends saying it to them it would be different since they would gladly accept or ignore their friends advices since it's all up to them.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips on crypto investment on: June 05, 2023, 04:02:21 PM
As newbies when investing in crypto don't be satisfied with your leading knowledge attainment about crypto, endeavor to continually do research on the crypto asset's you have invested on as it would aide you on a trajectory course  about your investment's. By so doing you're not easily taking by surprise on any misgiving that may arise about a portfolio you have investment with.

Another gateway to keep abreast is to get connected as a member of an active crypto community or platform. Having membership of different communities is an added advantage but make sure  they are a genuine platform with a good history just like bitcointalk.

As a matter of fact, it's very unsafe to depend on a single coin. In otherwords, invest into more than one token by spreading your investment into potential coins but be careful not to invest into pump and dump coins. Above all, make sure to maintain risk management in which ever crypto asset you are investing in.
Yeah, newbies really do need it in order for them to grasp the difference of investment in Bitcoin over shit coins because most of them are still hoping that these new released coins are giving them profit which in fact will give them but if they are lucky to manage to sell fast during at the top/ATH of the coins/project. Once they aren't quick enough to ride the market then a quick downfall/dump will eat every investment they put on that project.

There are quite few trusted coins that I want to invest I want to spread my investment and those coins are having a long history just like Ethereum.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2024 halving less than 1 year away on: May 30, 2023, 05:19:29 PM
I have a mindset that when the game gets too simple, people will easily predict the market will go up, and bitcoin will hit ATH after the halving.
Nah, no, that's not how the market works if you really know the history of Bitcoin you will know that it takes time before it hits the ATH just like in the last bull run. I think it takes a year or so before it touches the final ATH and to think that there's no definite final answer to when is the ATH will hit depends on the market.

One thing that I know is if there's a FOMO, people will usually buy more that will cause the market to pump and if there's a panic then people will start to sell that will cause the market to drop.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are we expecting from now until Bitcoin halving? on: May 17, 2023, 10:23:35 PM
Nah, I'd rather let it slide until there's a hype since that would be frustrating to just keep on thinking what will happen on the market but never miss a chance to buy the dip or cheap ones cause I'm sure there's a time you can buy it perhaps $15k I guess depending on the support level on or before the halving start. It will just take some time before the market rise up to the moon when there's a FOMO.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much time it takes for single block confirmation? on: May 04, 2023, 02:16:20 PM
It depends but try to look at this.

https://mempool.space/

If the market is flooded it will take some time and usually when there's a pump in the market it's expected to be longer though 1 - 10 minutes would be enough depending on how much fee you put.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would the Bitcointalk Forum be like without Signature Campaigns? on: May 01, 2023, 11:08:00 PM
Have you ever wondered what the bitcointalk forum would be like without signature campaigns? I have thought long and hard about this question. There have been numerous controversies regarding post bursting and spamming just to meet the weekly post count and other vices on the forum, all in the name of joining signature campaigns. As a result, many users have faced punitive measures such as temporary or permanent bans, registration tags, and more. The reputation board, which is the court house of the forum, is brimming with disciplinary cases, most of which are related to users in signature campaigns.

Therefore, I ask, what would the forum be like without signature campaigns?

Would it be more sanitized?
Would it be less filled with spams?
Would there be fewer alternate accounts?
There are other platforms that doesn't have any signature on them and guess what? They still has some problem and I don't think it's the signature is the problem here it's in the users and since there's an incentives when wearing signature and/or avatar of course, you'll see a bunch of them wanted to take part if there's a reward. That's why there are certain rules that are unofficially implemented for such thing thus, having rules broken will result in a different types of consequences.

I think you have to experience it for yourself to know exactly what would it be like by trying different forums.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: April 30, 2023, 03:24:52 AM
Try to trace out about the currency being used is Naira which means that this one happened on Nigeria.
Did make out some few research about the gambling laws and regulations in Nigeria and i found this one.

The law distinguishes between games of skill (which are legal) and games of chance (which are illegal). Legal forms of gambling include the lottery, land-based casinos and sports betting, whereas roulette, dice games and non-skilled card games are considered illegal.
Souce
Thank you for your elaborating their laws and the links so it's now clear to me why they get punished.

I don't like the punishment or fine give  to them. It is not going to be in anyway effective. Their punishment could have been rehabilitation and community service.

I don't like the aspect of option of meagre fine aspunishment either. That is exactly my challenge on this crime that I can't get my head over with. Some punitive measures are just as good as not pronounced because they don't in any way measure with offenses. I have some issues with some legal system because I think a punishment is suppose to wade people off a certain crime, what is pecuniary fine of 150,000 (about $210) as option against a jail term of 7 years or a crime of squandering $8,000 do to prevent future perjurers in gambling crimes.
As far as I understand what I read at the link/News you posted their crime was only giving false information that's why they are offered that kind of punishment prison or bail out. But I don't know if the judge completely cancel all about of the gambling activity or maybe it's just all they have to pay for gambling and giving false information. But I don't completely understand the News though on why they have had an $8000 equivalent of Naira money on their account since they didn't mention anything about someone or is it their money and why would the authority had to punish them for gambling?
Is it illegal to gamble in their country?
There's a lot of information I want to know though but the article is just too small to read.

if you have read the article. the money is on their Opay account. and they falsely alleged that someone used that money for sportsbetting. but maybe based from the investigations of EFCC, they were giving false claims that someone used their money for gambling to get back the money. but in reality, they were the ones who gambled the money, hence, charged of bordering false information.
and both mother and son pleaded guilty for such charges. so yeah, they did use it for sporsbetting and lost, and was trying to get funds back by saying that someone used their account without authorisation to get the money.
I see, so this might be the cause why they are punished and I don't see any likeliness that there's another reason why the authority had to punish them since their laws dictate that it's illegal to gamble on some certain games.

It's just too naive or stupid to blame someone if it's their account in the first place but action never lies so the authority probably asked people what are they doing on their daily lives. Probably someone told the authority that they were addicted with gambling so there's no need to prolong the investigation and they had to accept their punishment for what they did.

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: save seed phrase in song. on: April 26, 2023, 11:55:06 PM
Learn to take responsibility of things that matter to you. The idea of making a song or poem with your key-phrases is awful honestly. You have three wallets as you mention OP, so are you planning to make three songs for them, what if you mix up the key-phrases? What if the kids mix up the words?

But my main point is, you can make songs about your key-phrases and teach them to kids, while you can write them down, find a safe place to store them. For me making a song and teaching it to kids is more hassle than saving the key-phrases in a safe place.
I agree since it's just too much of a work to do plus making a song about seed with added words will eventually mixed them up and might be forgotten or the kids would completely mix up the words. It's a total disaster for OP to plan like that but at least some of us have some ideas we share in order for OP to get some it while trying to balance which is the best idea for storing seed phrase.

On the other note, what if someone ask the kids what are they singing because it sounded unfamiliar to them then the kids would tell them that it was some random or let's just say their uncle or something teach them this song and then someone trying to solve it thinking that person was into cryptocurrency?
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do not exceed your targets on: April 25, 2023, 02:13:27 AM
I have learned something so important in the previous bull market that got to about $30k . When the price of bitcoin was $21k I bought some bitcoin and after getting this amount of bitcoin I had target if it gets to $30,000 I will take profit, luckily it got to the price I was targeting but I was reluctant to take profit like I planned thinking the market price will go beyond $30,000 to get more profits but unfortunately the price didn't continue to increase,  but I'm not worried about that because I know the price will definitely increase again and I will get my profit of target.

I'm saying this because of some people who may have a target,  it is important for them to hodl to their target and not be carried away by the increase of price of  the market. The market can never be predicted, hold to your target and never be too greedy to make more profit. There is another day for another profit. This is important for people who have been patiently waiting for their target .
It’s a certain fact that people decide to invest not only because it’s their passion but mostly because of their greed. But if it reaches the point when your greed is highly uncontrollable, that will only lead you into possible losses than to reap your future profits. That’s the reason why we should always stick to our target goals, and not be carried away by greed. After all, when you decide to sell at a good price, you are already making profits. So just buy back again when the price drops sharply so you can enter the market at its perfect timing.
Exactly!

Exceeding your price target will disrupt your will to and instead you will try to hodl more waiting for the price to grow without knowing and how dangerous it is waiting without considering the possibility of it going down. That's the danger of being greedy you will expect more instead of getting that desired profit which is more than what you gain when the the price would suddenly drop.

I hope everyone don't make the same mistake as what the OP did and I know some of them already did made a mistake but it's about time they have to correct it once they meet again with their price target.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What role have altcoinsplayed in the entire cryptocurrency industry on: April 23, 2023, 08:10:20 PM
I think their role is to show the world that cryptocurrency exist and because of that some people think that a random altcoins that they heard from someone is the legit coins although it gather a chance to let them know Bitcoin or perhaps they heard/saw Bitcoin on TV/News. Perhaps some of these altcoins are made just to copy Bitcoin so that they could create their own monopoly and controlled coins such as fiat that they can exploit anytime they want but due to the conflict of being a centralized currency most people now choose Bitcoin because it's decentralized that no single entities own it. And most of the time altcoins are just being used for pump and dump to make money out from investors while the others it's just a shit coins with no other purpose.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which one is important? Knowledge or Experience? Or both in Bitcoin Learning! on: April 23, 2023, 04:32:08 PM
The replies above are right, if we put things in simple terms it's like you acquire that knowledge through watching and reading while you only experience it when you try to apply your knowledge or what you learned from watching and reading. So basically you need both knowledge and experience in order to be effectively useful when doing trades and investment.

One thing I could say is if you already experience this and that, then it's useless and pointless to you because you don't have the required knowledge to understand what you have had experience. You still get back to the first page and that is gaining knowledge first so that you can understand what you have had experience. If you blindly follow someone without a certain knowledge you'll get lost in the process and that's a total waste of time when you could just do some research with that time instead of trying to copy someone. Basic is very important in all aspects of life.
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price gets to $60k this year? on: April 23, 2023, 07:51:53 AM
I don't know why people keep asking this question like when the bull market is nearly coming it's like they are still not confident of how much improvement Bitcoin did in the past. Although, I get it why they have to asked because primary reason might be they don't know how the market works or they were just starting to like/invest Bitcoin because of the hype or someone just said they earned a lot by investing in Bitcoin which is too convincing if they really show the results but things are different when it's you the only one doing the trade without the help of the others.

Bitcoin price ATH last bull run was $64k and we enthusiasts probably thinking that the price would exceed to what we are expecting but of course there are some people who does compare the price chart of previous bull run. Speculators are all over the place throwing numbers which is fitting for the next bull market price.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: IS IT SAFE TO INVEST PENSION FUNDS IN BITCOIN? on: April 22, 2023, 07:44:49 PM
I would rather not risk it if it's not highly going to happen since you are probably risking too much in this just to invest in high volatile market. You should minimize the risk first before you could actually invest into something that you already understand. People nowadays are risking something that's important in their future it's like gambling in order to get what they want. We all know that gambling can't give you a high probability of winning thus, minimizing your chances to win. It's the same in trading because if you don't know what you are investing then you are just basically blindly guessing without knowing how the market works. More like a part of people who always invest during the FOMO instead of buying when it was on the dip.
