1  Economy / Services / anonymity/cryptography advice on: June 20, 2013, 01:22:15 PM
I am new to these concepts. I would like some advice on how to maintain anonymity online and the basics of different security protocols. Also, the strengths and weaknesses of different applications such as tor, bitmessage, tor chat, etc...
I am fairly intelligent, and learn fast so this shouldn't be too time consuming or frustrating! Most of my concerns are with tor, so I am looking for someone very well versed in this application.
2  Economy / Service Discussion / bitinstant on: April 13, 2013, 02:48:09 AM
I am posting this in a separate thread because I want a post that will catch all bitinstant users attention.
Has anyone been using the cash deposit (im planning on using walmart) to wallet option in the past few weeks?
I would like to try this, but I am worried because of the negative feedback. I'm hoping these are just isolated incidents. This method would make my life a bit easier.
thanx!
Oh yeah, this obviously would be for US based tx's.
3  Economy / Currency exchange / WTB BTC (who doesn't!) on: March 29, 2013, 02:00:07 PM
WTB aprox. 3-3.5 btc. The only payment options I have available are wu, mg, and mp.
Scammers, I'm not stupid, please give me a break, I will ask to use escrow.

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking too. Kinda forgot about them in my bitcoin seeking frenzy!
5  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending to qualified borrowers on: March 29, 2013, 05:06:14 AM
Srry guys, I meant to buy. He has a great rep, and a post referencing selling. Worked with him before, on a sale, NOT A LOAN.
I explained in my post why I decided to try the loan option when I actually have the cash to buy. I know its a bit confusing. Now I feel like I may have said too much or something. Im not really sure where to draw the line when it comes to discussing transactions. Hope I didn't just fuck up!
Look, I live in the middle of no where, no working vehicle. Nearest wal mart is 35 miles away. No BOA...etc. On top of all this, I am trying to get these before the weekend, hopefully tomorrow morning. Had a chance tonight, but it only came through after stores were closed, so no mp or wu.
6  Economy / Lending / Re: loan needed on: March 29, 2013, 04:55:36 AM
Thanks for the tip, but I thought bitinstant was having major problems? The other problem for me is that I live in rural wisconsin and don't have constant access to transportation. Even the closest wallyworld is 35 miles away. We have no BOA...etc. Its ruff.
7  Economy / Lending / Re: loan needed on: March 29, 2013, 01:54:15 AM
John, would you be willing to sell for money pak or western union?
8  Economy / Lending / Re: loan needed on: March 29, 2013, 01:53:09 AM
Maybe this will help. I'm having a hard time finding a seller with payment options available to me which also facilitate a fast transaction so I'm turning to a possible loan. I can provide any personal info requested--within reason--and will repay within 24 hrs.
3 btc.
9  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending to qualified borrowers on: March 29, 2013, 01:46:58 AM
I'm new to btc. About three weeks. Don't meet the posting requirements, and have only made one transaction. Trying to make my second, but it has become exceedingly difficult. I will provide any personal info requested. I am trying to find 3 btc. I can pay within 24 hrs after receiving.I am in a tough situation here. Really need to get these by tomorrow, or else I would just go through theymos, which I plan on doing next week. This would be a lifesaver for me, and would give me a nice chance to build my rep.
It's a longshot, I know. Or, maybe you would be willing to sell for mp?
wow, never thought it would be this hard!
Thanx either way, and you provide a great service which helps to bolster the community.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Forgot my passphrase on bitcoin-otc Help with bruteforce or finding another way on: March 24, 2013, 08:55:57 PM
Thats funny. I just did the same thing, but im an idiot. However, same situation; its really easy, but that was only because it was my test pass. I'm learning...and I don't want you to crack it. its driving me crazy, i just blanked it.
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Recent run on: March 23, 2013, 05:03:10 PM
I didn't hear about that gear related news, good info, seems logical. I need to keep up with this kind of info. I'm totally new to this world, not a programmer, and no next to nothing about the mining process. Seems to me though, that there must be some major links between determining behavior and aspects of the mining process. This is a totaaly uneducated assumption tho!!!
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: fox article on btc on: March 23, 2013, 04:04:07 PM
Yeah, I like the skeptical coverage. Helps avoid a puppet frenzy that could shake the infant foundation. I was also totally geeked to read an article that didn't specifically mention the you-know-what, while attributing the success of btc to it.
nice.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / fox article on btc on: March 23, 2013, 03:03:47 PM
http://www.foxbusiness.com/investing/2013/03/22/bitcoin-interest-explodes-as-cyprus-nearly-implodes/

Thought this was cool...“The rampant success of Bitcoin is a profoundly cautionary tale for global monetary systems. And we seem to be more in the introduction rather than the epilogue of the story,” said Colas. “If central banks and regulators actually ran their monetary policies to maintain public confidence in the value of their currency, Bitcoin wouldn’t have a chance. “
18  Economy / Goods / gpu on: March 23, 2013, 02:12:39 PM
I probly should have done more research before posting this, but I always have about ten things going at once and I dont always have time to RTentireFM! lol, anyway, I'm not really sure how gpu mining works as in how the card is utilized to process specific tasks. Unlocking the power of gpu's and the ability to use this for other tasks is highly sought. Especially in music production. Being so cpu intensive, if you could get a gpu to handle certain processes, maybe specific vst's, you could make a lot of money.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Catching Dead Cat Bounces With Current Wire-Delays? on: March 23, 2013, 01:13:58 PM
Current trends are beautiful, arent they? I'm totally with you. I think I am going to buy sunday night. I think well break 100 by the first.
Anyway, I have been very fortunate. I only became aquainted with btc two weeks ago today, and all of my transactions have been perfect. I'm not sure how many people do this, but when I purchase my btc teh one I'm dealing with will set my trade at the weighted av immediately after I notify the money has been wired. Not exactly instantaneous, but damn close.
Just ask for this. pm me, I may be able to do this for you also. With a low fee. Low, just to cover cost and turn a small profit. I'm thinking somewhere around 6%.
Just a bit more, here is my simpleton strategy: I do the wire transfer then start watching the market so when im ready to pull the trigger, its only an im away. Its fairly safe to say one is aware of the environment that will lead to a trade. Using this method, not only are you protected from your own knee jerk reactionary, emotional trades, but you are also able to get the price you want. I suppose i could ask that my contact use the current price vs the weighted av, but I prefer working with the latter number.
As much activity that trading on par with current securities market would bring to the table, (I say this all the time) I worry when this revolutionary concept begins to move through current financial avenues. We are dealing with something that could forever change, and fix, our current system. If the methodology used to exchange this new currency regresses into the ways we now use existing financial mediums, we miss our chance to change the system and then put control back in the hands of those who screwed us in the first place.
Wire transfers can remain in the system, before they are picked up, for weeks. Just get your money into the system first, then you can make quick trades.
The problem I'm trying to remedy now is the opposite: how to sell immediately. To me, this is more important. Without a trading account of course. It really gets me all worked up. If I cant dump when it starts to fall, my investment isnt very sound. IVe mostly just been using btc for purchases, so I buy the btc then make my purchase right away. but I really want to make a small investment, and this issue is the only thing holding me back.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: encryption on: March 21, 2013, 03:33:24 PM
Yeah okay, got it. Wow, that is kinda clunky isnt it? I didn't realize you had to right click the icon to get to clipboard. duh.
thanx!
