Something might have changed under the hood of explorer, that or he didn't pay some bills. It happens.

Lending rate on polo used to be amazing start of the year. Was getting around 15% month, solid returns, made it worthwhile keeping on exchange. But of course that couldn't last, shorters gave up,  someone dumped huge amounts on the lending market (probably the paid polo lending services moving in, but perhaps polo themselves?) yet to see any decent rates come back.
Shame, I did quite enjoy taking money from the shorters.

I also had an issue with factomd stalling on windows this week, was stuck at around the same height, clearing the ldb folder fixed it. No problems on the linux machine though.

Don't know much about Burstcoin, Factom will be using ports 8088/8089/8090/8096 by default, possible interference there, can change these in the config file 'factomd.conf' if you wish.
Unsure about how hdd mining really works though, it could be something completely different.

For one I'd be terrified if people in the company didn't own some FCT. It provides incentive, you should hope they own as much as possible.

Secondly, you are ignoring the fact that the top account is worth 5X the second account. It's widely assumed to be the Poloniex cold wallet. Now where are the other exchange wallets?

Thirdly, It has no underlying PoS, large bagholders present no threat. FCT isn't made to be a currency that transfers wealth, it's a software license, by holding FCT you are expecting that people will use the system to make entries.

Factoids were only ever intended as a payment to use the system, not to transfer wealth.
Always amazed FCT has so much volume on polo, where does it all come from?  Usage of the protocol is why Factoids exist and nothing else, these carboncopy tradingbots fighting each other in an echochamber of cups and handles is just noise.

As for polo lending, FCT lending rates have been solid nearly all year, only in last few months is there a huge pool available at very low rates.
Below 0.1% daily see no value in leaving money on exchange, they are highly coveted things by the nefarious. Even if your particular coins don't get stolen you'll still be forced to pay up for it à la Bitfinex

Every answer to the questions asked can be found in the whitepaper though, or in the faq on the website. And answered ad nauseum on bitcointalk, and on reddit, and in webinars/talks/youtube videos.

It seems only fair that if a person is truly interested in the technology and wants to point out flaws then they put in some effort towards understanding it before asking strangers on the internet to summarise a faq for them.
People are right to be sceptical otherwise. FCT is traded on margin, propagating false news or fud even if only for a few hours can truly reap rewards.
I think the community is incredibly helpful explaining things to most but that thread had a smell to it

Bought in bnktothefuture and own fct, still don't think there's any need to rush, do it right the first time. Can't see any problems with testnet so far, but too many crypto companies rushing things out the door. DAO anyone? There's no need for these guys to hurry, they aren't DASH/XMR/ZCASH all fighting it out in the same space.
Plenty of people think there's competitors, but have looked at them all and they ain't even playing the same game, yet to see one viable alternative who offers anything close to what Factom does. Take my dollars well seriously hey and this my observations.

Yeah seems to be what is suggested, once it they are happy with testnet it will switch over.
I'm sitting here spamming it with with crap entries and making a bunch of requests for my nonsense data. Test network seems to be holding up fine, even with only 6 fed servers.
Prefer they test it well rather than rush it out. Ain't no need to pander to the crypto community, they not the customers here.

From personal experience you can't just turn up in China as a western company and start doing business. It doesn't work like that, without a local presence to share expertise it's very tough, many things will work against you, in most cases a new entity is usually preferable to using the western company. Still, well keen to know if he'll be going solo or using the factom chain?

Network effect makes Factom a solid choice to stick with.

Business is different there, personally think it's easier once you understand, but so many companies fail to realise how different it is.

There's videos where Paul Snow seems to encourage other companies to sell access to the factom network, they don't have a monopoly on it, but undeniably the most talent and knowledge about the system by far, which is the selling point for the company

NEM still has some excellent applications, just think it's not going to win this one.

Would also add that Proof-of-Work is the only proven method today to ensure consensus. Proof-of-Stake has it's flaws, it's a preferable system and people are working to make it happen, because PoW wastes a damn lot of energy, but that's exactly what makes PoW so strong.

 You have to be very deep-pocketed just to attempt altering current btc blocks, and nothing less than nation-state level to change blocks a 12 hours old, beyond a few days it's computationally infeasible for anyone to do, even when quantum computers come along they won't have enough power to undo the bitcoin chain. Immutable.

Factom anchors into the Bitcoin blockchain, but without all the drama of trying to do so directly, this is it's strength.
