1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2014, 05:17:04 PM
Having seen similar and greater forking problems hit other cryptos (and even BTC) in the past, I agree that there's no reason to panic and in fact the effect might be even opposite (IF it's fixed fast enough) and the coin comes out being perceived even stronger.

So, couple of hours into this situation I was actually looking to BUY a bit more around 3.6 mbtc. Bad idea?

Someone who has looked into Vericoin (VRC), does it classify as an appcoin or that's not the case? Thanks.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins destroyed if unused, to keep bitcoin supply known? on: January 22, 2014, 07:16:53 AM
Extra amusing how all these people fall for the hard troll OP, while accusing HIM to have been very stupid... :-D
6  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Official] Tradewave — Build your own automated cryptocurrency trading bot on: January 16, 2014, 03:37:08 PM
This looks promising.
Will all kinds of coins will be supported? Thanks.
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - Broken trend line on: January 15, 2014, 07:19:43 AM
This thread is sad.
1) Proudhon so-called trolling is miles away from being slightly funny.
2) Just drawing a randomly-selected linear line under random fluctuations and trying to make something prophetic out of it is neither practical nor funny either.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Confirmed Bad News Sources Thread - No FUD, Just Facts!!!1 on: January 12, 2014, 06:32:39 PM
...It's obvious bitcoin has gone as far as it can go, but any other thoughts about this devastating news?

This is very bearish too:

Wow!  You're right.  Thanks for confirming this.  I don't have time to do it right now, so perhaps you can list the major bad points from that link so those who can't read Chinese can understand just how bad it is.  Thanks again.

The major points are as follows (quite obvious, really):

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - Final Poll on: January 09, 2014, 07:05:28 PM
no matter what the poll results, I predict finney will catch on in practice
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - 1st POLL on: January 07, 2014, 03:17:13 AM
"bit" will never catch on for this unit, without context it is not specific enough to be clear what is meant by "bit". so it becomes useless to have this unit and still often be providing the context that we are talking about sub-units of BITCOIN.

However, for example "satoshi" and "finney" are specific enough that can be used without the context (only context is something countable) and everybody knows what they are.

Furthermore, if

1 XBT = 10,000 finneys
and
1 finney = 10,000 satoshis

and both sub-units are derived from people names
...it's perfect.

It's obvious, it's going to be finney.

13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone "all in" on bitcoin? on: December 27, 2013, 10:41:57 PM
I don't like the narrow way the OP question is formulated. For me it is:
Yes, my very little and all "savings" are held in bitcoin constantly. I'm all in.
No, I haven't had anything I could sell for bitcoin, nor have I EVER bought any bitcoin.
The few bitcoins I have I have earned. I have invested nothing but time and effort.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has the NSA already broken bitcoin? on: September 07, 2013, 08:34:10 PM
One thing instantly comes to mind: SHA-3

As revealed, previously NSA has made NIST to insert their backdoored PRNGs into the standards etc.
NIST organized the competition to find the function to be called SHA-3 and one must wonder if Keccak won and was titled the SHA-3 because of some useful weaknesses NSA discovered in it.
