If u buy miner instead of BTC then your speculation is riskier AND profit is LOWER Wink Thats why there is no point in buying miner that will not mine more BTC then it costs
Example:
1BTC=300USD
1.im buying s7 for 5BTC = 5BTC or 1500 usd spend
2. im buying 5BTC

few months later i got like 3BTC back from s7 and 1BTC=1000USD
1. i have 3BTC or 3000USD - electricity = wow profit 200% in USD hohoho great BUT:
2. i have 5BTC or 5000USD = 2000USD more than example 1.. profit more than 300%

If 1BTC gonna cost 200USD then:
1. i have 3BTC = 600USD -- you lost 2BTC and 900USD
2. u have 5BTC = 1000 USD - you lost 500USD so u have 400USD more anyway

Its Always WIN for buying BTC unless ofc u think your miner gonna mine more BTC then it costs.
There is one exception becouse you can sell your miner but if ppl would think then noone would want to buy it from you. And ofc your miner can burn or something. So more RISK and LESS profit.

P.S
And i want to add one more thing that if we all just buy BTC then we will help BTC price will go highter. If we are buying gear then yes we are buying BTC but then producent will sell this BTC soon for USD so we r not really helping BTC price to rise Smiley

I see it differently.
I have at the moment 31 x S7 + some water cooled S5 for  heating .  150TH/s  mining at this month daily 1.10 BTC  (Antpool PPS )

I have 3x 50A  220V   It is always full. Some of the miners have been at a friend's house - today 4 x S7 Max 12 euro day , in a month less as 400 euro.
My home electricity consumption is not more than 3500 euro in a month.
So total 4000 euro or less for electricity.

If the BTC  price is 300 euro , then if I can sell all mined BTC and  I got 9900 euro or more per month.

In this case, I have recouped the purchase of three S7  miners per month-  2000 euro (or less) per miner with shipping and 20% VAT

But I sold last my BTC, when 1BTC=350 .

With mining you can earn more than with the purchase of BTC and holding them.

But you must sell when the price is high .. And you must have a reserve to pay for the electricity when the BTC  price is low for several months.
If u gonna mine more BTC then you had to paid for 31xs7 then its ok.
And instead of paying for electricity when price is low you could just buy more BTC Tongue
Do your own math:
1. BTC you had  to paid (If you paid USD then BTC you could buy instead of miner) for that 31 S7 with shiping&tax. There is no need to count psu etc. + How much BTC you could buy instead of paying for electricity x any BTC price you want. Versus
2. How much BTC you will mine x same price as in 1.

If 2 = more euro then you did right choice (for making more money)
i know many ppl dont care and have enough money and just want to mine becouse its addictive Wink (i was miner too)

But at the end just for money making calculations:  if your mined BTC - electricity + BTC for your miner after you sold it = more BTC than you paid for the miner = WIN. If its less then it was better to just buy BTC and hold.

Its diferent if ppl using miners for heating like few posts above. Its almost always WIN ;p

We (who mine) are "buying" BTC just as you are buying BTC but in a different way.  You (the buyer) and we (the miner) can BOTH SPECULATE on an increase in price of BTC.  I'm speculating the price of BTC will increase at a percentage rate much higher than the percentage rate of difficulty increase over the next 9 months.  Just as you (the buyer) speculate on the price of bitcoin as well with Elliot Waves, bullish or bearish news or by whatever means you use in your speculation to have not only a return on investment (ROI) but gains to boot.

Is my speculation a bit more riskier than yours?  Yes.  However, where there are greater risks can also result in greater rewards if speculation for those greater risks come to pass.

If u buy miner instead of BTC then your speculation is riskier AND profit is LOWER Wink Thats why there is no point in buying miner that will not mine more BTC then it costs

no need to lower the price if people are buying it anyway Wink they would be stupid or something

and worth to mention is there is only 15 days warranty from shipping out on batch7 s5.. so thats probably like week warranty when u get miners Cheesy

bitmain i could understand raise in price, but at least give us back free shipping Wink

new miner, my chains are 11 degrees apart in temp.

any solution to this? my other s5 is only 3-4 degrees apart.

think this might be my power supply cutting power. the other one just did the same thing after I moved cables around. gonna lower the frequency settings see if it helps stabilize it. my outlet is telling me i was using 1207 watts with both at the stock 350m. good thing i have a 1600w psu on the way

What brand/model is your new PSU?   It's not so much the watts in some cases but the quality of the PSU.

Sadly cheap PSU's can cause problems.

It is an evga supernova 1300. I have an evga supernova 1600w titanium rated psu arriving today. i have the miner that drops in hashrate underclocked to 325 and it appears to stabilize. at 350m one of the blades intermitently lowers in temp to about 30c and my total Hashrate goes down to 500-700gh. im not getting any errors though. so my thought is that it may not be getting enough power, whoch would explain the temp/hashrate decrease. Im not an electrical engineer so im just guessing...I put in a ticket with bitmain and they want me to take the damn thing apart. and redo the thermal paste.

It's not a bad idea if you know which blade is hotter I woould start with that one.   You might just fix it in only one breakdown.

Best news is you have their consent to do it so does not void your warranty.  And I'm sure they will help you out.  If this does not fix it they will give another good suggestion.

Sucks to go through troubleshooting, but they are a good team to work with.  If in China or US you can easily call them and talk to them about the problem.

The weird thing is the blade that is lower in temp is the one that drops in temp to 31c and is probably not hashing full speed. the other blade stays around 60c.

50 - 60 c is nothing out of ordinary on running temp.  With it being summer it's hotter in a lot of places aswell.

When it get's in 30's I would guess it is wrong unless very cold ambiant.  I would do the thermal paste on that blade first.  I'm hoping you can fix it with only one blade needing redone.

Ill do the thermal paste after i get my new power supply today. I want to make sure its not my power supply. Thanks for the info.

If its psu then its broken or something
my evga 1300 working great with 2 antminers s5. So i cant imagine yours cant handle one miner
(edit) i see u r running two antminers too.... so just try only with that nonworking so u will see if its psu or not
If its gonna work with one then maybe u r splitting cables wrong Tongue
that one with 2 pcies should go to 2 boards not only one so its like 1 and half cable for one board

and try completly poweroff (remove power cable from wall) for 30 sek
mine did the same had like 100gh/s and almost all xses. After powering off and on everything is ok.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 25, 2015, 01:05:44 AM
evga1300 has 4x1pcie + 2x2pcie
use 2x1pcie + 1x2pcie for 1 antminer s5 and it will be ok (1x2 pcie connect to 2 boards, one single pcie to first board and second single pcie to second board. Do not connect 1x2pcie to 1 board and 2 single pcie cables to second board)

@BITMAIN

I have ordered 2 units for 320USD
I hope 320USD will be on invoice for cutoms and not 411. Can you pls confirm this ?
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 09, 2015, 02:04:44 AM

So why the difference?

sometimes the 5s hash does drop and sometimes it does rise, I think it has to do with the psu but I'm not sure. The average stays about the same so I know the miner is working at about 1.1Th/s which is where I want it with my current setup. I could always do more hashing but it doesn't seem as stable when it is not at this setting.

As an average as you stated dogie, I should be watching the daily hash on my pool and miner settings and now worry about the 5s and 30m, 10m on the pool?

I seem to be getting consistent payout, i guess that is all that matters.

becouse sometimes your antminer will find more shares and sometimes less, same as finding btc block - your ant trying to find many small blocks.

For the Bitmain team:
Is there any chance of having a page for network traffic stats in the next firmware update.
How much TX and RX data for a day, week or total TX and RX.

Its unlikely this will ever get done even if its useful as there are lots of things still to do higher on the priority list. Your traffic stats are going to be literally negligible in terms of bandwidth with appropriate difficulty.

As usual, another waffle response.
This data is actually already available from the UI via the Network tab.

I want to add it also count your connection to antminer S5 interface and not only antminer->pool
so more browsing changing settings = more mbytes ;p

i would like to buy antminer C2 ;p
