if there's an an error message, please wait 60 seconds, and then reload.

But also please PM me the error message, and the stacktrace. Thanks!

Thanks.

Repaired ...
... and much improved.

Forex exchange rates now come from GoogleFinance.
Added many more exchanges. Some details fixed.
Might do a proper update post soon.

Until then, already one request: I am looking for proper charting pages for these exchanges:

  • coincheck JPY
  • foxbit BRL
  • hitbtc USD
  • coinfloor GBP
  • bitbay PLN

so that I can link them in the left column of http://http://btc.hopto.org
Style-wise I like bitcoinwisdom most, but if you know any charting site which does the above, please tell me.

Thanks - and enjoy the new site

Rene!

Nice idea, too bad it is discontinued!

It is not.

Just on ice.

The googlefinance function I have already implemented, it needs a few more things to be changed, then it is good to go again.

My main question is: did it help you or someone else to better anticipate market movements?

First of all: Yes, I got a really nice donation once, so at least someone did appreciate it enough, and is or was using it.

And: Yes, especially while BTC was still moving slower (approx 1 year ago), those psychological levels were quite instructive. People did react to when the price had crossed them.

China played a larger role back then, and this tool helped me to realize when the Chinese markets came close to whole-number-levels.
I guess I should add a Korean exchange now.

Also, I often used it simply as a shortcut to quickly open bitcoinwisdom *g* (left side)

And the time table "Who is awake right now?" was sometimes also really useful (top right)

To get a feeling for the range of arbitrage between the different exchanges was useful too (bottom right)

the trading volumes I watch with www.pairtracker.com
I see crazy things: sometimes volumes of a certain pair go up by 850% within three minutes!
Often others are alerted as well, and a tokens daily volume can easily grow a hundredfold
or more within a few hours - with predictable effect on price.

That is a very cool tool you have built there.
I will keep it running, with 3min/5%/100BTC, for a while, to get a feeling for it.

First ideas:

* "update now" button (to skip waiting once)
* please let me fill in numbers with the keyboard, not only the arrow updown buttons
* http://www.pairtracker.com?t=3&p=5&v=100 to be able reopen with the same settings, without manual interaction
* also show the PRICE, somehow. Perhaps no need to keep it in every column cell, but perhaps the last price once, per row? I need to see the price.
* per cell I do not need absolute volume AND relative volume change. Perhaps put the absolute volume only once per row, and the relative volume change into each cell?
* (perhaps perhaps: per cell relative volume change AND relative price change?)
* colors not ternary (green red white), but as a range of (log?) volume proportional color intensity?
* poloniex? hitbtc? binance?
* sound alert above a given volume change percentage?

just some ideas. Perhaps you want to keep improving it?

If you have ideas and find the time, you can reciprocate:
http://btc.hopto.org/serve/TODO.txt
http://btc.hopto.org/serve/changelog.txt

I think we're trying to solve the same equation here ;-)
not 100% agree - those two projects are pretty different.

But I really like your tool.

Perhaps I'll add a page/link/popup/hover-div "other useful tools" - then yours will be there for sure.

> MSc student Digital Currencies, University of Nicosia.
Cool, I am an alumni too, however only of the short intro class, 2015.
Very much enjoyed that, learned a lot - esp. how much I already did know ;-)
Also really cool to have been a student of Andreas Antonopoulos.

Happy trading!

I like shapeshift. And the website is great in explaining the frontend side of things. Going through the whole blog history right now.

I am asked to find out more about how shapeshift actually works.

Which texts/videos/blogsposts are out there which explain what precisely shapeshift is doing when I submit a transfer.
Are the coins bought on the fly on the cheapest exchange, does shapeshift hold a pool of coins, etc?

Any information much appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, I thought so.

It makes it really easy to check all of one's wallets, and then e.g. only go for the largest sum addresses.

Saves time, a lot.

So the unclaimed tokens by November will be redistributed to BTX holders for airdrop.
Interesting some big BTC holders are not interested presently in this project

Everyone's busy.
If the reward is small, but the work is much ... we ignore it, right?

This tool I have written helps for that.
Get a quick overview of all your balances, and then just sign a couple, and reap some BTX benefits.

And ... it is good for both groups:

BTX veterans, who could now e.g. check also those wallets which they ignored back then, too much hassle.
and
BTX newbies, who before did not know how to tackle the thing without loosing too much time.

Anyways ... may it help.  Myself, I do not have much coins, back then they were mostly on exchanges, and in altcoins - so please: Consider donating.

Thanks.

Ah thanks. That sounds more likely.

I suggest you remove that "10 gigabytes" warning from your current code.

Trying out the windows version now.

Is the warning real at the start of the program? "10 Gigabytes?" What for? You will hardly have created so many transactions by now, or have you?
What is the current, real size of the chain?

Is there a lightwallet?

Thanks in advance!

tar xzvf Linux-0-14-1-6.tar.gz

or

gunzip Linux-0-14-1-6.tar.gz
tar xvf Linux-0-14-1-6.tar

then the binary executables files are in the bin directory and the source code is in the source directory in case you want to compile

related question, Debian stretch:

Code:

I have literally hundreds of addresses.
And no clue which ones had balances on 2017-04-26

questions:

Do you have a fork of electrum for your coin?

or

Can electrum wallet files be imported into your wallet?
Can bitcoin private keys be imported into your wallet?

or

Do you have an API where I can quickly check a balance for an address?

Thanks

Good ideas. Who volunteers to do what? Or for what else?

Yes, I install the netstats server if there is enough people saying
"yes, I configure a netstats client on my node" (it is easy), and when
this phoenix looks like it's rising from the ashes (i.e. exchange/s).

But: I do not want to hold coins, nor do multisig. In turn,
I suggest you, martymcfly2015, to be part of that multisig group.

Technical question, whether anyone knows more about already existing solutions:
Could that premine also be locked into a (genesis?) contract, which pays it out
to a multisig account on a regular basis, over a timespan of e.g. 18 months?
(And the multisig holders distribute it for what is currently needed, or put it into
a savings account, for spending larger sums later, and provide regular reporting
about what was funded.)  - Does such contract code exist? Is is feasible?

During the past week (and year), I have really really tried my best. Not only to re-awaken this thread and community here, but I also worked "behind the scenes" to convince bittrex, to please give us a second chance:

REQUEST #... SOIL WANTS TO LIVE ON
...

Long story short:
  • The coin was on one exchange, and when that sole exchange closes the only market, a coin is literally dead.
  • The hangman was a merciless executioner.
  • bittrex has earned money via trading fees, while SOIL was going up to 128,000 USD coinmarketcap;
to understand that better, I manually summed up approximately the "more than 1000 USD volume per day" sums,
and my estimate is a total trading volume of 100,000 USD since SOIL entered bittrex,
so bittrex has earned 0.25% * 2 (buy and sell) * 100k USD = approx 500 USD. Correct me if I am wrong.
Related to the work time they had to invest, that is not even much money, so I understand them too.
  • I have not only invested a lot of time into this, but also lost a lot of money - like many of us I suppose. What a pity.
  • A sad day for ecology because an ecology oriented coin got killed.
But ... ETH and SOIL are PoW coins, and trying to marry PoW and ecology ... may become a stupid relationship anyways, I guess.
So perhaps it is even a good day for ecology?
  • To continue with soil, means getting it onto another exchange. There are dozens of them.
If you believe in it, please start contacting them now. Good luck.

For situation summary, see previous ~20 posts: I have a working smart contract and an oracle running, and very good manuals. And 2 testnet servers which I'll switch off soon, unless I am paid not to.

If you want to continue, get a group together, then contact me please. I might become active again, when there is another exchange (promising to be) trading SOIL.

I have 0 SOIL now.
If you have no use for your SOIL coins anymore, please send them here:

REQUEST #... SOIL WANTS TO LIVE ON

Quote
Andreas January 19, 2017 19:49

Hi Bittrex!

SOIL is targeted towards ecological and agricultural smart contracts.

I own a considerable amount of SOIL, because I think this new alternative finance world we are all creating together needs to include the REAL problems of our doomed species - and to not only make the (minority of) selfish people happy who want to get rich quickly.
Don't you sometimes think so too? I do.

That is why long ago I have invested a considerable amount of my hard earned money into SOIL.

Now you have decided to remove SOIL, and that announcement alone destroyed ~ 2/3 of the value of this (already much undervalued) currency, of my personal coins, and everyone else's coins.

Of course, I understand that Bittrex' motivation and intention in the cryptospace is to make money with trading fees - and as SOIL has had a difficult time recently, there was not much volume traded.

Acknowledged.

However, SOIL is in a special situation as it has only you as a trading platform: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/soilcoin/#markets

So if you go forward with this decision, in you will kill SOIL in 8 days from now.

Is there anything we can do about this?

What e.g. would happen if the trading volume went up?

The volume has already gone up to many many thousands of dollars in the past 36 hours. Doesn't that make you happy already?

Where would be your threshold?
Above which you say: "Alright, we have sympathy with this little player, and we will not kill it now just yet - let's give it another 6 months"

Or what else could be done to help you reconsider your decision?

Thanks a lot for taking your time, and perhaps taking this leap of faith.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Greets from London! We have blockchainweek and blockchainexpo here next week, very exciting.

Best regards,
Andreas

Thanks for your answer, Ryan.

So what you are saying is that

* sufficient volume is approx reached - but you still want to kill the

* so there must be other reasons why it is removed.

Please tell me specifically: *Which are the other reasons?*

Your suggestion to withdraw the coins is vain. Because SOIL is only on

that has formed around it. And you also kill the good idea, to connect
selfish cryptocurrencies with altruistic ecology.

"Interest" for you means "trading volume in BTC" - right?

Please sum up the BTC volume since you made the "is being removed"
announcement.

There has considerable trading happened now. Don't your euthanasia
criteria on that webpage of yours say 2.1 BTC or 3.5 BTC per week?

And in your frontend interface, doesn't the B: ______ mean bitcoins?

We are at ~3.38 BTC in 6 days now.
No need to close down the only marketplace where SOIL is traded -
because would kill the coin for sure.

Thanks for your reply. Running a VPS feels great  Wink

Yes, and you can do so much more with it! Try this (untested as little time until tomorrow, but approx like that):
Code:

sudo apt-get install apache2
sudo mkdir /var/www/html/me
sudo chmod 777 /var/www/html/me
echo "hello world" > /var/www/html/me/hello.txt

Then open your browser at
http://your.ip.address.here/me/ or at
http://your.ip.address.here/me/hello.txt

Just one example ...

P.S.: the chmod 777 is dangerously unsafe, but it circumvents access rights problems, until you have learned more about users, groups, chmod, and chown.
