1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain scripting contest on: May 04, 2014, 07:26:55 AM
I've been working on a Bitcoin Script debugger in my free time, which might be quite useful for these if they continue.

As a teaser, here's the output when I fed it the answer to Stage 2 above:
Script Debugger Preview

It can parse scripts as strings or as hexadecimal bytes.  As you can see if you look at the URL, I just pasted in the script string with very minor changes (my syntax for pushing hexadecimal numbers is different).

I've disabled any other input URLs for the moment (this one exact script in the only one it will debug), because this isn't really ready for primetime yet, but I thought you folks might be interested anyway.

Would you be able to release the source code behind this tool? The example on your site looks really neat and I'd love to have a play with it.

It's likely that I will eventually; I usually wait until I'm done and bored with something though XD  I'll be finishing it up within the next week I think though, and turning it on for general scripts at least.  It's actually just about done, I just need to lock down a couple of things so people don't try to misuse it too much and add an interface for actually using it without manually typing in the URL.

Just received mine today, looks beautiful!  Couldn't have asked for more.  The shipping was quicker than expected as well, took about 3 days of the estimated 6 (Arizona, USA).

4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Python code for validating bitcoin address on: March 18, 2014, 11:42:15 AM
A few people mentioned a 27 character bitcoin address, but there's been no mention that 26 character addresses exist. 11111111111111111111ufYVpS is an example.  The odds of it actually coming up in practice seem astronomical, but it is still valid (and a couple of the code examples here give a false negative for it).
5  Economy / Services / Re: Experienced Programmer Looking for Small Jobs on: March 26, 2013, 06:01:53 PM
Hi!

I'd like a set price for the following two-part job. Just ask if you need more details. I'd appreciate if you also specify your choice of method (language, dependencies, protocols).

Hi there, thanks for the interest.  I'll take a look this evening and send you a PM.

Edit: sent

7  Economy / Services / Experienced Programmer Looking for Small Jobs on: March 22, 2013, 04:28:24 AM
As the topic says, I'm an experienced programmer looking for small (less than five hour) jobs to build a reputation on here and get a couple of bitcoins to play with.

I am comfortable with C++, Python, Java, Haskell, HTML/CSS, PHP, Javascript, C, WordPress, Drupal, Linux, Windows and Android to name a few.

Reply here or PM me if you're interested.  My rates are negotiable, but for now I'm considering something around the range of 0.5 BTC per hour or we can work out a fixed price per project.  I can provide a few examples of work on request, PM me if you'd like.

Well, looks like Ditto mostly took care of what I was planning on.  I'll let him finish it up.

Sure, sounds like a plan.  If you give any extra info, could you post it here as well?

Hope I'm not stepping on your toes, rme, but I got interested and starting working on this.  I should have something to show this evening.

Let me know if you've already taken care of it or something like that, OpenYourEyes.

The newbie restrictions kinda suck.  Can't imagine that that's the best solution.  Spammers that are targetting this site in particular can just automate 5 posts and wait the time, right?  So how it is any more effective than one of those crappy hard-coded captcha things (like "What is 5 + 5?" when you register) and possibly a time-limit?

Well anyway, off to wait out my newbie timeout.

I can't imagine that the amount you could get would be worth it on any normal Android device anyway.  Even a low-end PC should be much faster for that purpose, no?

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: firstbits.com website down on: March 16, 2013, 07:42:22 PM
As far as I understand, there is no need (or possibility) to register at firstbits.  All you do is use the address in a transaction that makes it into the blockchain.  That's it.  If you're the first one to use a certain prefix, it's yours.  I am not sure the algorithm they use to decide what the important part of the prefix is exactly.
