I hope there will be another dump. Seems my prediction that we'd slowly decline back into the 80s was wrong... Then again seems each high gets lower
From memory I've seen it do this 260 resurgence to 170 to 160 130 120 110
Something tells me it'll be a while before we see 120 again.
If we can have a regular cycle between 100-110 I'd be happy.
A nice sinewave across a week. You think it could happen with all the ASICs. hitting the market.
ASICs = more coins sold to pay for hardware costs = temporary increase in supply
Each low seems to be getting higher as well.

I donīt get it, who sells bitcoins at ebay for paypal. There are a lot of scammers outside. Or do they ship a coldwallet to the adress mentioned on paypal and reload it when sucessfully shipped ?
Doesn't matter how they send it. If the buyer calls foul, they'll be getting their money back. If the seller does his homework, he can easily spot 99% of scammers on eBay. Most don't. And even if you do, there's probably a group of buyers who suffer from buyer's remorse after price dropping who will threaten you with a dispute if you don't refund them. When I was selling on Ebay, I never sold a single BTC or lost a BTC after 50 auctions. I had a specific criteria for buyers, and they never met my criteria. Numerous scammers. I only ended up paying eBay fees for my troubles. So what was your policy? I tried selling some BTC on eBay a few days before the crash and the buyer messaged me with his bitcoin address saying that he would pay half the purchase price first, and after he received the full BTC amount, he would send the other half of the payment (yeah right). I told him I would send the BTC to the address he provided, and after they are sent I would message him blockexplorer.com link to the transaction. That way if either of us claimed to have been scammed, when eBay looks through our message history they will see proof of the bitcoins being sent to the address the buyer provided. The buyer only responded a week later claiming to have had his account compromised and that eBay was looking into it.

CampBX uses Dwolla. If you really want to trade on MtGox then buy your bitcoins at CampBX and send them to your MtGox account. Oh, and their fees are a tiny bit lower than Gox.

I'm curious how and when others on here first heard about bitcoin and what made them get into it.
Here's my quick story:
The first time I heard of bitcoin was sometime back in late 2009 when I was building an online store from scratch and wanted to avoid PayPal fees. I searched online for alternatives and found a site that listed several different online payment services and what their fees were. At the bottom of the list was "Bitcoin," advertised as having no transaction fees. I looked into it a little bit, but didn't understand it at all. I ended up staying with PayPal since most people use it.
Then in the fall of 2012, I was looking to buy a VPN service, and heard that bit coins were the preferred payment method because of the anonymity. I tried to buy some coins but couldn't figure out how to, so I just paid with my credit card.
Sometime around the middle of March this year I heard that the price of a bitcoin was $40 and rising. I remembered seeing the price at $12 just a few months earlier and so I did lots of reading and ended up putting almost all my savings into it.

I'd agree. I've been using CampBX since March and it's really nice. Someday I'll have to learn how to trade using all of their advanced features! I've mostly done just basic trading.

You do realize these "walls" tend to vanish once the the price gets close to them, right?
What would be the motive for somebody doing that? Why would they try to create a false sense of support at a certain price?

sure enough!
will buy 1BTC for $200
will you?
Hey I have a sell order at $199.93 for 10 BTC, if you put a buy order for that price, Gox will honor it at once! so please go ahead ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Nah.. Gox doesn't let you buy higher than the lowest current asking price or sell lower than the highest bid price. I found this out when I accidentally left a zero out of my asking price and it was executed immediately. I thought I had just sold a bunch of coins at about 10x less than the current market price, but then I looked at my trade history and was glad to see that it was sold at the lowest bid price.

I'll edit this post as time goes on to add information, but I won't delete anything. 2013-05-19: I think we will reach a high of $221 at some point from now until the end of the year, and then break through $360 around Spring of 2014 like a hot knife through butter. I would love to see bitcoin reach $500 by year end, and there is a very good chance it will, but I'm usually wrong so I'll stick with $221 for now..

Does your service still cost 2.5 BTC per month as in the original post stated or did the prices change? I won't scroll through all pages of this thread to find out the newest information..
This question was answered on April 5th of this year. I would guess that the answer is still "yes." Link to post.

I have USD $4,000.00 in my Dwolla account that I set up last week, and an additional $5000.00 that is pending and should be deposited by Monday. I did not fully read up on using Dwolla to buy bitcoins (I just took recommendations from this forum) and now I have learned that Dwolla apparently has a 30 day probationary period for transfers to certain high-risk merchants such as MtGox. I cannot afford to wait that long, as the price will likely continue to increase rapidly.
I would like to exchange my $9000 to USD in the shortest amount of time possible. What is the best way I could go about doing this?
By Monday all $9000 should be in my Dwolla account, but if I could transfer the $4000 that I have now, that would be even better.

well, I would consider my self an advanced user and a maths geek but i failed to find an answer so I post in a newbie section, cause I feel like one now ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) . what is probability to find 60 blocks in a time that all calculators guess 183blocks should be found? in all time of the test there was no change in difficulty. I think it should be like 1/100.000 but these functions are very unintuitional so it could be 1/500 and 1/10000000000000000000. Try rephrasing your question. I'm not sure I understand.

Coins become lost when the private keys to them aren't stored anywhere, and nobody is holding them. So though the coins never really disappear, they can't be moved anywhere, because no one has the private keys required to move them.
Can't the private keys be cracked the same way they are discovering new coins? I wouldn't have to bruteforce 115792089237316195423570985008687907853269984665640564039457584007913129639936 possibilities Have they invented -illion words for how much that is? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) 115 quattuorvigintillion, 792 trevigintillion, 89 duovigintillion, 237 unvigintillion, 316 vigintillion, 195 novemdecillion, 423 octodecillion, 570 septendecillion, 985 sexdecillion, 8 quindecillion, 687 quattuordecillion, 907 tredecillion, 853 duodecillion, 269 undecillion, 984 decillion, 665 nonillion, 640 octillion, 564 septillion, 39 sextillion, 457 quintillion, 584 quadrillion, 7 trillion, 913 billion, 129 million, 639 thousand and 936 ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Greetings everyone! I first heard about Bitcoins a couple years ago. Wish I would have set up an account then, but I figure I'm still pretty early to this revolution!
